this is fair! i made this post very quickly originally, so i didn’t exactly think to throw in any examples, since i was pretty positive most people seeing it would have come across their "art" at some point or another recently. so here goes.
all of their metalocalypse related posts feel extremely detached from the show. if you’ve ever watched it (presuming most. of you have bc of my follower base) i’d hope this was pretty obvious. it very much reads as though someone just slapped a prompt into a generator to get something, y’know, pretty much related! in my opinion it’s soulless. the first image with nathan feels that way to me, and don’t get me started on the second with toki. it’s very obvious they trained it off of fifthnail and their depiction of the character. plus, this constant animal motif in their metalocalypse art bothers me, the way they’re just slapped into the background of the piece.
the second one is a variation of the first toki piece, which i feel just screams the ai thing even more. in my opinion they trained it off fifthnail’s work, then just threw in a photo of toki in his outfit from the dethkids episode, and so on and so forth.
so many of these pieces are off. but it’s especially present in the ones including the person’s oc (character with the bandana and braids.) in the first image we see this animal motif again- and look at the mask they’re wearing. the pieces towards the sides seem all jumbled up without true direction or sense.
in the second photo, it’s extremely obvious to me. the pattern on the bandanas is muddy and weird, and if you look at the character’s arm, the texture from the background is melting into it! it also just has that very weird, dramatic lighting thing going on that you see in a lot of ai generated "art."
also, what’s going on with the last guy, the threads are connecting to his fingers with nowhere to go. it doesn’t make sense to me.
in this one, it might not be as entirely obvious. it looks pretty neat, but once again, the pattern on the bandanas is off, and it has that odd dramatic lighting thing going on again.
after looking through all their posts, their art is unequivocally ai to me. i’m just assuming that they use a well-trained model to generate these images, along with probably cleaning up in certain spots to make it look more human. i ran each piece through a detector and each one was flagged as ai.
so, anyways, i hope this helps! ai "art" isn’t real art, and it never will be. pick up a fucking pencil.
