But like, why?

I'm starting to sound insane but this genuinely might be my breaking point. I can barely put it into words how disheartening this is, all of these changes are not even just pointless, they are stupid and this one in particular is probably the worst one yet.

There are so many meaningful and important moments that revolve around Percy's birthday. His 15th in botl being bittersweet bc he thinks is probably the last one he will ever get to celebrate, annabeth (and tyson)'s birthday cake after the battle, but most of all, after actually surviving everything, Percy has to spend the rest of his life knowing that his birthday is the day dozens of his friends died. He has to carry that with him FOREVER.

His birthday is his and annabeth's anniversary, it's luke's death day, it's the end of a centuries old prophecy, it's the day the battle of manhattan ended. And you're just gonna throw away this whole thing, the whole entire fucking story just to "fudge it a little"? TO WHAT END? What can the narrative possibly gain from losing this? I don't understand

I've been aggressively planning SoF and as I've been doing that I've been rereading parts of canon. And I keep having a funny moment reading canon where I'm like "wait, where's reyna?" And its like dude. She's at camp.

Planning SoF is going well, at this point I've planned most of it. Right now I'm just making some timing decisions and making sure i get all of the characters subplots down.

ive always rly liked the idea of a member of a group of adventurers having what everyone assumes is very well trained hawk and then at the end of their journey its casually revealed that thats actually just his buddy whos a shapeshifter and just rly likes being a hawk

the guy also like thinks everyone knows bc he never tries to hide the fact that the hawk is a person but everyone assumes hes always just joking. like the others being like "damn its crazy how he knows exactly what you want him to do its like he knows english or something." and the guy is just like "well yeah thats his first language so ofc he's fluent??" and they all go "haha good one" and move on, leaving him confused

they just think hes a quirky guy that really loves his pet and says things like "the 9 of us" even tho there are clearly only 8 people! he just cares about the bird so much he counts it as a group member haha !

thalia being like i can't be the hero of the prophecy it has to be percy i'm not the one ill stagnate my age because i can't be who it needs me to be

and percy being like ok cool but not really understanding the gravity of that or fully deciding he will be the hero until he sees nico and is like if it's not me it's this kid and he's gone through too much already and i'm not letting him go through more it has to be me it will be me

and nico not even realising that percy is looking at him and promising that and then being told by hades that he's a failure because he's not the hero and he's not his sister, hades trying to kill percy so nico has a chance to be a hero. not for nicos sake, for his own.

Preserve or Raze writing update:

Chapter 74 is almost done, Chapter 75 will be done shortly after. The fic will end with 75 chapters.

I have been doing intense planning work on the sequel, which will be titled Storm or Fire, and will follow the Prophecy of the Seven quest. My goal will be to have regular updates-- hopefully a new chapter every other week. I've been working hard trying to regain a productive writing schedule and, while it's still a work in progress, I do think that update schedule will be attainable.

So excited to continue this story!!!

The culture between being a demigod who is a year rounder vs a demigod who only comes for the summer has to be sooooooo different. A summer-only is talking about how they're going to driving school and they wanna work at starbucks, while the year rounder is like "it was pretty fun when we went to the lake and naiads only tried to drown three of us, I think they're getting nicer! 🙂" Imagine ur trying to tell ur year rounder friend about a post on social media and ur year rounder is like "haha that's so like when we had the trend of flying backwards on the pegasus and davie broke his spine 😂" like what the fuck are you talking about bro 😭😭😭😭
