The Corrs -Old Hag
They came for him one winter’s night Arrested, he was bound They said, “there’d been a robbery” His pistol had been found
They marched him to the station house He waited ‘til the dawn And as they led him to the dock He knew that he’d been wronged
Defeat of the Red Branch - by Mychael & Jeff Danna
I saw your blog's on hiatus but I wanted to say I think your taste in music is excellent. :)
oh thank you!
sorry, yeah this blog's been on hiatus mostly. Once in a blue moon I might post something, but the past 4 years have been really hard to find joy and beauty, which is what the music always felt like to me.
hopefully times will be better soon.
take care, and thank you!
on hiatus

Buachaill ón Éirne mé 's bhréagfainn féin cailín deas óg Ní iarrfainn bó spré léi tá mé fhéin saibhir go leor 'S liom Corcaigh da mhéid é, dhá thaobh a' ghleanna 's Tír Eoghain

english:
I'm a boy from Lough Erne and I could charm a nice young girl I would not ask for her wealth as I am rich enough myself I own a good part of Cork, two sides of the glen in Tyrone And not to repeat myself I'm the heir of County Mayo I will go tomorrow to make ale in the wood Without a cot without a boat without a pinch of gruel with me But leaves of the branches as bedclothes over my head And think well done for you as you watch me from over there A cowherd, my pet, I've never been accustomed to be Instead of playing and drinking with the nice young women on the mountain side If I lost my riches I probably didn't lose my senses And your kiss is no more to me now than a shoe worn for a year
Wolfstone - Tall Ships
They used to make them tall Now there are no shipyards here at all They used to dig for coal here They used to scrape and crawl Now there are no coalfields here at all
Chorus: Steelmen miners shipwrights and sailors Steelmen miners shipwrights and sailors We'll never see their like again No more workers It's gone the way of all good things
They used to forge their steel there They'd sweat through every pore Now there are no steel works anymore They used to land their catch here The silver darlings run Ah but now the fishing is all gone
Tall masts would sail from shipyards "Pride of the Clyde" they'd say Now all the ships have gone away
this is honestly incredible I’m speechless
Here’s another of their instrumentals, definitely my favourite of their reels ❤️ if anyone is interested, they do some with words too!
