I was binging the new episodes of Inside Pixar, and one of those episodes was called Inner Drive. In that episode, they talk about vehicles in Pixar movies and how the vehicle reflects it's respective character's personality.

I had high hopes for the episode, especially since it literally started with the clip of Barley driving up to New Mushroomton High in Guinevere.

Yet, apart from that clip, and breifly showing Barley saluting to Gwen near the end of the episode, there was no mention of Guinevere and Barley at all.

That makes me so disappointed because I feel there is so much you can see about Barley through Gwinny, but they went on about Mr. Incredible's car and the Pizza Planet truck instead... Come on...

So let me say what Pixar didn't...

Guinevere does a great job at showing who Barley is. She is a little beat up and not very put together, messy around the edges. Yet, she's got so much life in her, just like Barley. Her interior seems to be Barley's safe space, filled with all the things he's passionate about. Barley is so proud of Gwen, she's the first thing he wants to show to his dad.

Guinevere is his prized possession, but Barley sacrifices her so his little brother can get a chance at something he's always wanted.

Ian understands what his brother did for him, sacrificing his favorite thing, so he tries his best to pay it back to Barley with his painting on the side of his new van, hoping it can mean as much to him as the original Guinevere did.

Pixar really needs to stop leaving Onward in the dust... We love it so much!

I was thinking about how many other films have such horrible sibling relationships. Like, I can imagine Barley watching his world's version of Zathura and just yelling at the TV, "That is NOT how you're supposed to treat your little brother, you awful JERK! D:<"

Omg, yes, that is very accurate.

Any movie where the older sibling is being an ass to the younger sibling, Barley will complain and instantly hate it.

Ian and Barley beach day headcanon

Ian wears board shorts and a tank top. He's body conscious about not wearing a shirt

Barley wears swim trunks. Debating if he'd wear speedos, but if he could get away with it he would go skinny dipping

Ian spends time wading in the water, collecting sea shells, and walking along the shore. He wears flip flops when he takes a walk though, he's afraid of stepping on something in the sand

Barley plays in the water and waves and the sand, and sometimes like to toss Ian in the water

One thing the boys like to do together is make a sand castle

Oh, and Barley usually gets a sun burn, while Ian actually remembers to use sun block

Not only directed it but starred in it, took care of Mara Wilson (Matilda) while her mother was in hospital with cancer and even managed to get an advanced copy of the movie for her to watch before she succumbed to her illness. The man is a treasure.

The best story I’ve heard about the production of Matilda was: 

The scene where Matilda was dancing around her living room making things fly around to the song “Little Bitty Pretty One” was very nerve-wracking for Mara. She told Danny that she was anxious to do the scene, and he said, “You know why? Because you’re the only one dancing! We just have to have everyone else dance too! Then it won’t be scary!” 

So everyone–the crew, the rest of the cast, the people at the craft services table, everyone–danced along with the song, at Danny’s insistence. Apparently the only one who wasn’t doing the full on dance was the camera man, who just did a foot shuffle so the camera wouldn’t jiggle. 

If that’s not the sweetest thing ever I don’t know what is.
