Don't think I'm weird but...
I am a big fan of the horror genre, both historical and fictional. When a scary movie comes out in theaters you better believe I am the first person in line to see the midnight opening. I love being scared, scared to the point I can't sleep after I see a particularly good scary movie and I can't stop talking about it for the next couple of weeks. It's not the gore I find interesting; I'm obsessed with the psychology of the criminal mind and psychological thrillers. The mind games and depravity the human psyche conjures up is fascinating, both in the creative mind of a writer or director and the dark recesses of the criminal mind. I don't know where this interest comes from, but I may have inherited it from my mom and grandma. They enjoy reading Stephen King books and watching shows about true crime. My mom, grandma, and I often watch shows together on Lifetime and the Crime ID channel. I enjoy the stories people share and find their interviews about the real-life situations they have been through fascinating. I think I'm obsessed with trying to make sense of what human beings are capable of doing to one another because of my interest in abnormal psychology. At one point, I considered majoring in psychology simply to gain more education and insight into the criminal mind. I've even gone on the Manson murder tour in Hollywood. The back story of the Manson murders has been an interest of mine since I was old enough to grasp what happened. As I did with the Manson murders, I find myself spending hours on the Internet googling everything about the case after reading or hearing about a particularly intriguing crime. Horror movies help keep this weird part of me entertained but I must say, scary movies have not been very good lately. I find them stupid and predictable with too much emphasis on gratuitous gore which provides nothing but shock value. And if it's not all about the gore then it's all about exorcism and that is not what I find scary or interesting at all. That's why I'm so excited for my favorite show, American Horror Story, to start back up again. Ever since the first season of the show I have been hooked. They provide everything entertaining about horror and it's very well written with amazing actors. The first episode of the third season was on Wednesday and I'm already so excited. It's gonna be a great season! #CPPCOM317
