My Favorite Pokemon (Part 7)

Favorite Fighting Type: Hawlucha

Again, have the anime to blame for this one (XY/XYZ is my favorite of the Pokemon anime if you couldn’t tell). Ash’s hawlucha had such a fun personality, prideful, brave and determined, and I loved its relationship with noibat/noivern as its mentor/big brother. One of Kalos’s coolest pokemon (that, spoilers, recently just got a mega confirmed for Legends ZA which looks AMAZING)! From what I’ve heard, this thing can be absolutely BROKEN in competitive pokemon, but I’ve only used it one once and I’m the least competitive player I know so 🤷‍♀️.

Strong opinion, I honestly wish this was Ash’s ace/main pokemon rather than Greninja in the XY series. No hate to greninja, but I’ve always liked hawlucha more.

(But can someone explain to me how the HELL it beat a spritzee and slurpuff (the former being a flying/fairy type against a flying/fighting type that only knew fighting and bug type moves), lost to an Avalugg and slacking (The former more so because Slacking is broken as hell and we all know it, but avalugg is PURE ICE! Sure hawlucha is also flying type, but its fighting typing would’ve made it neutral damage at most. It got benched for pikachu during Ash’s rematch against the ice gym leader, AFTER beating his ace pokemon!) and tied with Froakie? Ash, could you not of given this guy at least one flying type move? Bro has three fighting and one bug type move (yes, flying press TECHNICALLY is both fighting and flying type but my point still stands), at least Bea’s Hawlucha had moves like Hone Claws and Sky Attack.)

But anyway, that’s neither here nor there, I still love this luchador bird, but man did the anime treat it dirty on occasions.
