Amusement Park Interlude (2p! Italy Fic) - Part Fourteen: Ending
âYouâre back!â Casey exclaimed, the shock and confusion apparent in her expression when Ava entered their apartment.Â
âYou look surprised,â she couldnât help but laugh.Â
âWellâŠof course,â Casey said as Ava sat down on the couch with her. âItâs Monday. Iâm not stupid, I know Luciano was trying to kidnap you. When you werenât back after midnightâŠI figured you werenât coming back at all. Why did he let you go?â
Ava had shared the same feelings as Casey when she was given the option to go home. She could have tried to escape early that morning when she had woken up before LucianoâŠbut she had chosen to go back to sleep. She knew then what the consequences would be, and she had come to terms with it. But Luciano had shocked everyone when they were gathered for breakfast this morning.Â
That morning as she and Luciano were getting ready to join everyone downstairs, there was a knock on his bedroom door. Before he could say anything, it was pushed open.Â
âLuci, how long are you going to sleep? I made breakfast for once and here you are-â
Flavio stopped short, staring in surprise. Ava was already dressed, but Luciano was in the process of buttoning up his shirt.Â
âWhat have I told you about knocking?â Luciano snapped. âYou have no concept of privacy!â
But Flavio was more amused than anything.Â
âMi dispiace,â he grinned. âIâll see you both downstairs for breakfast, fratello.â
âHonestly,â Luciano sighed, clearly frustrated. âBastardo.â
âI meanâŠthat could have been worse?â Ava forced herself to chuckle.Â
Once he finished getting dressed, the two went downstairs for breakfast. It was way too late to have any thoughts of escaping. There was no way she would be able to, even if she tried. The fact she was here on a Monday morning told Flavio and the others all they needed to know about what happened after she left the festival with Luciano. As embarrassing as the interaction would be, she had no choice but to deal with it.Â
âLook whoâs here,â Kuro was staring at her, a wicked grin on his face.
âDonât look at me like thatâŠâ she muttered.Â
Lutz had been resting his head on the table, but looked up after hearing the exchange.Â
âCongratulations, boss,â he smirked. âTook you long enough.â
âDo you think you could have done better?â Luciano glared.Â
Lutz chuckled, but didnât respond.Â
âLeave the poor girl alone,â Flavio criticized, placing two plates of food on the table for them. âJust ignore them and eat, bella.â
Even though she was used to the teasing by now, she still didnât love it. The two sat down to eat with everyone. Flavio joined once he was finished passing out plates of food. Ava mostly remained silent as the group discussed the work that needed to get done for the day.Â
âAs much as I love your company, when do you need to be home, ragazza?â Luciano suddenly asked as they were finished eating.Â
She stared, unable to say anything for a moment as she tried to figure out if her ears were playing tricks on her. But the others were staring at him as well, as surprised by his words as she was.Â
âWaitâŠwhat?â She asked when she finally managed to form words.
âDo you want to stay~?â He whispered in her ear before placing a kiss on her neck.Â
Her cheeks flushed red. âItâs MondayâŠI thought I wouldnât have a choice.â
âThat wasnât an answer to my question,â he smirked.Â
âYouâre just letting her leave, fratello?â Flavio was baffled.Â
âFor the time being, of course. Or do you think itâs a good idea to keep her when the last place she was seen was Allenâs haunted house? Those first players would suspect the peace treaty had been broken.â
âOhâŠâ she realized. âYouâre right. They would probably be suspicious of that.â
âIf you let her leave, thereâs no guarantee sheâll come back to you,â Kuro was staring her down.
âOh, I think she will,â Luciano grinned.Â
He was definitely implying somethingâŠand in front of the others, no lessâŠ
âKeep talking like that and I definitely wonât come backâŠâ she grumbled.Â
âIâll just keep you here then,â he shrugged. âIâll deal with our counterparts when it comes down to it.â
She sighed. âIâll come backâŠThis is going to be a hassle either way, but this way it wonât be as bad.â
âYouâre going to be living with us!â Flavio grinned. âThereâs so much I have to do to get this place ready for you!â
âReallyâŠ?â She cocked an eyebrow at him.
âFratello, you arenât allowed to go crazy,â Luciano glared.Â
âI donât have the slightest clue what you mean,â he smirked. âSheâs going to be living in a home with a bunch of men. She has different needs. And Iâm going to be designing her room, of course.â
Luciano grumbled under his breath, but didnât say anything more.Â
âYou really donât have to do all that for meâŠâ she muttered.Â
âDonât be silly, bella. Of course I do,â he smiled. âWe have to make you feel at home.â
âYou arenât going to change his mind,â Luciano stated.Â
âAhâŠWell, thank you, Flavio,â she smiled.Â
âYouâre very welcome!â
âYou know, with how youâve been butting heads with our counterparts, I didnât expect you to want to stay with them much longer in the first placeâŠâ Luciano muttered.
âWellâŠit has been really awkward, having to spend so much time around Ludwig and the others with all of the festival prepâŠâ she admitted.Â
âYouâve been butting heads with them?â Lutz asked.Â
âYeah. I kinda snapped at them over a bunch of things theyâve done when they tried to confront me for dating. Feliciano and Kiku were the only ones who apologized, and everyone else has been trying to act like it didnât happen. So itâs been super awkward. Weâve been busy with the festival, so thatâs been a distraction at least. Now that itâs over, things will probably be even more weirdâŠâ
âHehâŠâ Kuro smirked. âWho knew that your relationship with them would deteriorate like this when they were your trusty shields in the beginning?â
âLuciano really drew a wedge in between you all,â Lutz chuckled.Â
âIt wasnât just that. There were plenty of things before I got involved with Luciano that I chose to ignore. Iâve just opened my eyes to all of it, is all,â she shrugged.Â
âAnd itâs a good thing you have,â Luciano smirked. âIf not, I doubt you would be here with me right now.â
âProbably not,â she admitted.Â
Later on, Luciano drove her home.Â
âThings are going to be very different from now onâŠâ she muttered once they were stopped in front of her apartment building.Â
âDo you regret itâŠ?â
âGood,â he smirked. âYou better not.â
âBossy,â she teased, sticking her tongue out at him.Â
âDonât push your luck,â he leaned forward, taking her face in his hands.Â
She leaned forward, placing a kiss on his lips.Â
âNot good enough,â he whispered in her ear.Â
Before she could respond, he pulled her in for a greedy kiss. Their lips locked together as his hand dipped down, grabbing her ass.Â
âI-I need to go insideâŠ!â She managed to say when he pulled away to suck on her neck.Â
He sighed. âFine, Iâll let you goâŠâ
He tucked a lock of hair behind her ear with a grin. âBut youâll make it up to me soon, wonât you?â
âA-Alright, alrightâŠIâll talk to you later, okay?â
She got out of the car. As she passed the driverâs side, Luciano rolled down his window.Â
She smiled. âAnchiâio ti amo.â
Ava did have a few regrets. She would be leaving Casey behind, and she didnât want to do that. But her relationship with Luciano was too far gone for her to leave him. She was determined to be able to see Casey again, though. She was a civilian, after all. If Casey wanted to, she could come to see Ava.Â
As for everyone elseâŠmaybe someday the truth would get out and she could make them see why she had decided to leave them. That was probably wishful thinking, though. She couldnât picture a time when the first and second players could get along enough for that to happen. That time would probably never come, not with their prejudice against each other.Â
âLuciano let me leave,â Ava explained to Casey. âFor now, at least. I was ready to accept the consequences of my actions, but now I have a little timeâŠSince I was last seen at Allenâs haunted house, he wanted to avoid any suspicion that the peace treaty had been broken. Heâs making a plan to publicly kidnap me.â
âSeriously?â She grinned, throwing her arms around Ava. âIâm so glad! I didnât want you to leaveâŠeven if I was the one who encouraged you to tell him how you feelâŠâ
âYou donât need to worry,â Ava smiled, returning the hug. âYou arenât involved in the conflict. You can see me whenever you want.â
âYouâre right!â Realization dawned on her face. âI never thought about that!âÂ
âNeither did I until earlier. But thereâs one thing I am worried aboutâŠHow are you going to pay the rent on your ownâŠ? Youâll have to find a new roommateâŠâ
âOhâŠThatâs going to be difficultâŠNobody I know is looking for a new placeâŠand itâs not like living in the city is something people want to do to begin withâŠâ
âIâll make something work! Donât worry, okay?â
âDo you have a plan or somethingâŠ? You canât give me rent money if you arenât living here. Thatâs not fair to you.â
âLike I said, donât worry,â Ava winked. âI have an idea.â
âThe festival went on without any problems,â Ludwig said at the meeting with all of the first players later that week. âWe received more positive feedback from the experience than any of us could have expected.â
âEven the second players expressed that it went well, correct?â Kiku asked.Â
He nodded. âDuring the survey we sent out to the attendees, we asked if there would be a continued interest if we made it a yearly event, and the majority said yes.â
âIs that so?â Arthur was a bit surprised. âI do admit that it was successful, even though the preparation was exhausting. But if we keep that space reserved for the event so that we donât have to tear down the bigger attractions, there wonât be as much preparation down the line.â
âThatâs what we were thinking,â Ludwig nodded.Â
âIt will be great to do it every year!â Feliciano grinned. âAnd now that people have seen how much fun it was, more people will want to join in! It will just get bigger!â
âYour bake sale was a big hit, Ava,â Ludwig suddenly said, pulling her out of her thoughts. âPeople enjoyed the easy way to get involved. Danke.â
âNo problem,â she nodded.Â
Some of the others exchanged glances. She didnât answer him coldly, but the warmth she used to have towards them was no longer there.Â
âDid something happen between you twoâŠ?â Yao asked. âYou guys are acting weird.â
âIâve been thinking the same thing for a while now,â Francis agreed.Â
âAva, youâve been distant lately,â Antonio said. âWhatâs been going on?â
âIt really isnât a big deal,â she said to spare Ludwig and the others from an awkward rehashing of their confrontation.Â
âIt doesnât seem like the sunflower is very fond of you all anymore, da?â Ivan smiled. âMaybe Luciano finally succeeded in driving a wedge between you all? The next thing you know, sheâll be gone.â
He chuckled, making everyone uncomfortable. She stared, trying to keep her emotions hidden.Â
Does Ivan know something
âDonât even joke about that!â Lovino exclaimed as Feliciano tried not to cry.Â
âE-ExactlyâŠâ Arthur agreed. âOur counterparts stealing from us is no laughing matter.â
âIâm telling you, itâs nothing,â she insisted. âJust something stupidâŠâ
âYour feelings arenât stupid, bella!â Feliciano cried.Â
âT-That isnât what I meantâŠI was trying not to get everyone else involved, Feli.â
âJust tell us, dude!â Alfred urged.Â
âSheâs pissed at us!â Lovino snapped. âHappy now?â
âWe gathered sheâs upset, but nobody has explained what happened,â Arthur said.Â
âSheâs upset because she thinks weâre controlling and inconsiderate of her happiness,â Lovino huffed.Â
âPlease do not minimize the fact that Ludwig shot at herâŠâ Kiku muttered.Â
Everyone was silent. She sighed, shaking her head.Â
âThis is why I tried to say it was nothingâŠâ
âYouâre treating the rest of us coldly while youâre still the same with Feliciano and Kiku!â Lovino snapped. âHow is that nothing?â
âL-Lovi, you should calm downâŠâ Antonio muttered.Â
âFeli and Kiku actually apologized to me after that lecture Ludwig tried to give me!â She snapped back. âThe rest of you tried to pretend it didnât happen! Of course Iâm still upset!â
âY-You wanted an apologyâŠ?â He clearly wasnât expecting that.Â
âHonestlyâŠâ she sighed.Â
âWhat on earth were you trying to lecture her for?â Arthur asked.Â
âShe has been secretly dating someone for the last few monthsâŠâ Ludwig finally spoke up. âI had told her before that relationships interfere with her duties, so she was directly disobeying me.â
âDang, dude, really?â Alfred, along with almost everyone else, was surprised.Â
âHow was it an issue if nobody was able to tell she was in a relationship?â Yao asked. âClearly it was not interfering with anything.â
âI knew,â Ivan locked eyes with her, a knowing smile on his face. âI saw him dropping her off at her apartment on Monday. HeâsâŠan interesting fellow.â
Her face paled. So he did know.
âWho is it?!â Brian exclaimed.Â
âWhy should I tell you if sheâs keeping it a secret?â He chuckled. âNo thanks. Itâs more interesting to watch you all like this, frustrated that you donât know anything.â
For once, she was grateful that Ivan was like this.
They argued for a while longer amongst themselves before Ava got fed up and left. She was sick of it all. Lucianoâs plan couldnât come soon enough.Â
âNo!â Casey exclaimed, pulling Ava behind her by her arm. âYou canât take her! I wonât let you!â
The two girls were in town, walking back to their apartment, when Luciano showed up with Lutz and Kuro. It had been a little over two weeks since the festival. Since then, Ava had spent her time tying up loose ends and doing the things she probably wouldnât be able to do after moving in with Luciano. Despite being on rocky terms with the first players, she still made sure to spend some final time with them without letting them know it was a goodbye.Â
Casey was also prepared for this moment. The two didnât want to leave each other, so this is what they had to do.Â
Since they were in the middle of town, everyone around had either ducked inside nearby stores or buildings to hide or had completely run off. Nobody would even consider stepping in to help with a situation dealing with one of the Roleholders, especially not a second player.Â
âWhat should we do?â Lutz glanced over to Luciano.
âThis is taking too long,â Luciano looked extremely annoyed. âIf she wants to play hero, bring her along as well.âÂ
âWhatâŠ?!â Casey squeaked under her breath, but then put on a determined face. âI wonât back down just because you threatened me!â
âCasey, no!â Ava fumbled to pull her gun out.Â
But in one swift moment, Kuro had knocked the gun out of her hands with the sheath of his katana. Luciano was simply watching, a confident smirk on his face. This was going his way. Nothing had happened that he wasnât already prepared for. But if the first players showed up, that could change. It was clear he wanted this to go as quickly as possible, yet still put on a public display.Â
âLeave her alone!â Casey yelled, moving to go after Kuro.Â
Lutz was too fast for her. She was thrown over his shoulder as she kicked and screamed for him to let her go and leave the two of them alone.Â
âStop it! Let her go!â Ava tried to run over to her, but Kuro grabbed her.Â
A car suddenly pulled up directly beside them, its tires screeching to a halt as it stopped. She flinched at the loud sound, giving Kuro the opportunity he needed. Before she knew it, she and Casey had been tossed into the back of the car, sprawled over each other, along with Lutz and Kuro as they got into the back seat. The car was moving again just as quickly as it had stopped.Â
âOwâŠâ she muttered, attempting to move off of the three people she was on top of.Â
Somehow, Casey had already maneuvered herself to sit in the middle of Lutz and Kuro. There wasnât much room left, so she had no idea where she was supposed to sit. Casey shoved Lutz over in hopes of making more room on the seat for her. But it really didnât help much. The four were squished together no matter what they did.Â
âWhy, exactly, couldnât you have driven a bigger car?â Kuro asked, extremely annoyed.Â
Flavio glanced back. âThere is absolutely no way I would be caught dead driving one of your tacky cars. It was either mine or Lucianoâs, and mine happens to have more space.â
âYou couldnât have sucked it up just this once?â Lutz sighed.Â
âStop complaining,â Luciano ordered, from the comfort of the passenger seat. âWe were successful, thatâs all that matters. You and Gilen did your part, right fratello?â
âSi,â he chirped, cheery once more. âWe got everything they wanted from their apartment.â
This was a part of the plan Luciano had decided on with Ava and Casey. The two girls had packed everything they had wanted from their apartment so that Flavio and Gilen could pick it up while the two girls were out. Ava had made sure to give Flavio her keycard and apartment key so he could get into the building without any problems.Â
Casey didnât want to find a different roommate and didnât want to stop living with Ava in the first place, so they had come up with the only solution possible. Casey would have to be kidnapped as well by trying to play the hero.Â
Luciano had agreed to it, saying he had plenty of space for her as well. Flavio was more excited than anyone. He kept gushing about being able to remodel two rooms instead of one. Apparently, Luciano always stopped him from redoing rooms that werenât being used, despite how much he had wanted to. Flavio had visited their apartment since then so that he could analyze how their rooms looked and would use it as a basis for the remodel. Ava had no doubt it would be impressive, considering his work as a designer.Â
âGoodâŠâ Casey let out a relieved sigh. âI was worried this wasnât going to turn out well.â
âI was worried the first players would find us and interveneâŠâ Ava agreed.Â
âWe would have given them quite the fight if they had,â Lutz had a dark grin on his face.
âIt would have been troublesome, but there was no way they could have stopped me,â Luciano shared a similar look.Â
âLetâs just be glad it worked outâŠâ Ava muttered.Â
Casey nodded, grinning at her. âI feel like I should probably be more concerned over what just happened. Even if this is what we decided on, this was still a kidnapping.â
âItâs too late for regrets,â Lutz seemed amused. âItâs better not to think about it so that you donât have any.â
Flavio pulled into the large garage of Lucianoâs home. Kuro was the first to get out, looking extremely relieved to have his personal space back. Lutz and Flavio followed suit.Â
âI think itâs inevitable to have some regrets,â she said, glancing at Casey. âBut itâs fine as long as we donât regret letting this happen.â
âDo you?â Luciano was watching her carefully.Â
Casey seemed to realize this wasnât a situation she needed to be a part of, so she quickly went after the three boys into the house.Â
âNo, I donât regret it,â she smiled. âIâve dragged my best friend into thisâŠbut I know she wanted to do this with me, so I think itâs okay. Even though the first players were good friendsâŠat least until recently, Iâm not cut out for dealing with all the conflict, and all I wanted was to have a normal life with my best friendâŠand with you. This wasnât the normal I had in mind, but Iâm happy with the decision weâve made. So donât worry, okay?â
She leaned forward, kissing his cheek. He smirked, wrapping an arm around her waist.Â
âDo you finally believe me? I always get what I want, ragazza.â
She playfully rolled her eyes. âI guess you do.â
Before he could reply, she wrapped her arms around him.Â
He smiled, kissing her forehead. âTi amo di piĂč.â
