A few years ago, I created and published a comic called Seren and the Werewolf. It was a fantastic learning experience, but this time around, I wanted to try something very different.
I thought it would be fun to take you inside my process and build my next world with you.
I’m excited to introduce my latest project Nightraven and the Airship Captain.
It will be set against the soaring, misty Swiss Alps. The story follows my alter ego, Nightraven, on a desperate quest to find her missing scientist grandfather.
Her family dismissed his work as obsession but Nightraven discovers his field journal and learns he vanished while chasing centuries old legends about dragons in the treacherous passes between Mount Rigi and Mount Pilatus.
She discovers that her only way into those lethal, fog choked heights are stepping aboard an airship captained by an air wise reckless adventurer brave enough to fly there.
This comic will also be a tribute to the three years I lived in Switzerland looking out my window at the Queen of the Alps, Mount Rigi and getting little glances to the side of her of Mount Pilatus.
As a tribute to the rich regional folklore that inspired it, I will also be creating a full High German edition alongside the English release.
Instead of keeping everything under wraps until a final book is printed, I’ll be sharing character concept art, tactile page layouts, translation notes, and background photo. Eventually, completed pages will be serialized directly to your inbox.
Below is the very first concept drawing of Nightraven, dressed in her aviator leather coat, goggles, and holding her grandfather's leather-bound journal (Das Tagebuch).
A Fun Challenge
Can you help me decide a detail. Should the Airship Captain have a Zeppelin Style airship with a nostalgic interior or should he have a more whimsical vessel hanging from a huge balloon. Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
Welcome/wilkommen
