Personality Tests
The first test that I took was the MBTI. At first, I was surprised with the result I got. I already took this test when I was in high school, and the personality I got was INTJ. When I took the test now, the result I got was INFP. I was surprised with the result I got because I always felt like I resonated with the characteristics of an INTJ. Although, I feel like I also see the characteristics of an INFP in me. When it comes to the careers, I resonate more to the suggested careers of an INTJ. I believe that these career paths are more suited for me, but I am not completely shutting the carreer suggestions of INFP down. The suggested careers for the INFP are more of a second choice for me. I believe that it is vital for an individual to take these tests because it gives them an insight on their own personalities. Like with me, I do not have a full grasp yet of who I am as a worker and an individual. In order to become a successful business leader, you must know your own strengths and weaknesses. The MBTI tests are one of those tests that I can take in order to further determine my attitude towards work and my potential input in an organization.
The second test that I took was the OCEAN test. The results was very similar with regards to the introversion. I have also noticed with myself that I am a person that keeps to herself. I prefer quiet spaces rather than loud and crowded ones. Although I do engage in coversations, I am not usually to start one. What I noticed with my result is that I have a high score under Intellectual/Imaginative. I have also realized that I am one who gets lost in her thoughts. I usually catch myself thinking of different thoughts that are not conventional. I also noticed that when I’m faced with a problem, I usually offer two kinds of solutions. I offer technical and clear solutions, while I offer out-of-the-box solutions. This strength gives me the ability to look at situations at a bigger picture. With regards to the Agreeableness and Emotional Stability, it is somewhat parallel to the results of my MBTI test. I tend to be emphatic to the concerns of people, and I do not take the feelings of others for granted. I can say that all in all, the MBTI and the OCEAN tests yielded the same results. Overall, the two tests gave me additional insights to my personality. I have also noticed that my attitude changed over time, and it manifested on the MBTI test. I became more grounded and more aware to the environment and society around me. This is vital as I continue to understand myself and my capabilities.
The profile I got from the R-I-A-S-E-C test is consistent to how I know myself today. My types with the highest scores are Investigative, Artistic, and Enterprising. These characteristics are consistent with my results from the MBTI and OCEAN tests. As with the suggested jobs, I find myself highly interested with the options I was given under my types. These are the types of jobs that require only moderate levels of socialization, although encourages high collaboration. One of the suggested jobs was copy writer, and it is already aligned with the college program I am taking right now which is Advertising. I can tell that if ever I do end up im one of these jobs in the future, it would be highly fulfilling for me, especially the jobs found in Job Zones 3 to 5. Not only will these jobs allow me to grow further and improve as a person, these are jobs that allow me to contribute to the betterment of society. I do believe that I will be able to feel fulfillment if I know that I am doing my part in improving the society. I do agree that my introversion level is aligned with the results that I got from my R-I-A-S-E-C profile. Most of the jobs suggested require me behind the scenes and less in the spotlight.
What I learned in my SelfStir assessment is very similar to the insights that I got from taking the previous three tests. It provides more concrete evidence to the personality characteristics that resulted in the tests. According to the results, the greatest strength is accountability. I do believe that in my work and in my other responsibilities, being accountable is vital as a worker and a leader. It takes a lot of strength to own up to successes and failures. As an individual, I value how I will be able to improve from my mistakes and the first step to that is accepting that I have been in the wrong. My greatest weakness is motivating others. It aligns to my introversion level because I find it hard to trust people. I am the kind of person who keeps a small circle of friends, and therefore are wary to peers and strangers. Therefore, I find it harder to connect to other people and to further motivate them. I am surprised that my peers, family, and friends rated me high. I am glad that my strengths are seen by others and it helps me improve on my personality more. Upon understanding their impressions of me, it helps me understand their perspective and therefore, improve myself. A 360° assessment is vital in the workplace because it allows you to determine your own personality. It helps the managers and your co-workers build the connection stronger in the work environment. The assessment helps make sure that needs are met and that the human resource is satisfied.
All in all, the assessment and the tests allow me to understand myself deeply not only with my own perception, but also the perspective of the people that I interact with and affect. This will help me become an effective leader because I myself know how I see myself and how other sees me. It allows me to adapt better to my environment. It also allows me to know my strengths and weaknesses, and improve upon them. I also start to form my expections from myself and what others expect from me. With this, I am able to be more realistic and build a better connection with my peers, friends, family, and the potential organization that I might work with in the future.
