Mad that Maekar genuinely had the most peaceful reign in the last century of Westerosi history. Like this is not talked about enough, there were no major rebellions in those 12 years, no reports of famines or plague. My guys reign involved a long ass summer and getting crushed by a rock.
I think there's something weirdly tragic about Maekar being a good king. Because the man we meet at Ashford would not be a good king. Which suggests that when he does take the Iron Throne, he makes a tremendous effort to play against his character, and do the boring work of keeping the peace and tolerating people that he doesn't like. And it's hard not to read that as Maekar trying to be as like Baelor as he can be, because it should be Baelor on the throne, and it's Maekar's fault that it isn't.
i dunno if its funnier to put daeron or aemon's name here

Aerion is all smiles and chivalry so long as his father is watching, if the tales be true, but when he’s not…”

Did Maekar know that pulling out was an option?

dunk in the book is unironically thinking ‘prince maekar wasnt hit at all when he grew up, thats why hes such a sassy bitch’
I feel like Dyanna was an absolute menace and that's where all her children got it from. And that's one of the reasons why Maekar goes so batshit in trying to protect Aerion and keep all of them safe because they truly are what he has left of Dyanna.
And it doesn't help they all remind him of Dyanna in different ways with their personalities and appearance
The fancast I would like for young!Baelor, young!Aerys, young!Rhaegel and young!Maekar
