Heads up that Tumblr just rolled out a new layer of content blocking that’s set to Hide by default.

I haven’t found where to modify it on mobile (if the setting is even available yet on mobile).

On desktop, go to Settings > Account and scroll down until you see “Community labels”. Choose the setting you prefer from Show, Blur, and Hide

I think people sometimes forget that the Crazy Frog was literally a TV ad spot for a novelty ringtone. Which is such an unbelievably specific bygone era that its easier to imagine it as some kind of internet meme animation.

And then it was so wildly popular that the creators overlaid some of the sound effects onto bestselling 1984 movie soundtrack song "Axel F" and it was SO popular that people just imagine the song was written for the ringtone ad frog. From when you paid for ringtones. On TV.

“Hit songs born out of ringtones” was such an important genre of music brutally murdered but the incessant march of technology. The kids of today will never get it. They can listen to the songs but they weren’t there. They have never had someone trying to convince them to pay actual money for a ringtone via texting a phrase to a sketchy number read out on television.
