I mean what did Cinderella actually do in the grand scheme of her story that constitutes her as working to get the Prince? She worked for her step mother and step sisters but her Fairy Godmother did all of the work for her to get him. Not to mention that she knew him for a span of 6 hours at the most (and that’s me being generous because balls don’t start at 6pm but I’m giving Cindy SOME leeway) and the next day she was in love. Then, married him not after dating him or any formal courtship, but after not seeing him at all after that and then being able to fit a shoe.
Ariel’s story isn’t perfect, none of the Princess stories really are, but Cinderella’s isn’t inherently better because she had to work for most it. And if Demi really wanted to go there why not pick Tiana who actually worked for her dreams to come true? Or Mulan who saved an entire country and if my memory serves me correctly was not yet married in her second movie (though Mulan isn’t technically a Princess I still count her as one)
Basically Demi just needs to shut up. If Cinderella is your favorite that’s fine, but don’t give a bullshit answer that puts Princesses against each other and implies that one way of securing a Prince (which is ultimately what these movies are about anyway) is better than another way.
