for context im thinking what happens here is that petey does smth that could be perceived as dangerous and dm tries to exorcise him specifically bc he thinks that hes a danger to lil petey . so he was js trynna protect lp . except yk. lil petey stops him . and lil peteys just a baby and hes under this huge amount of pressure so obvs he cant rlly control his emotions . so he just lets it slip that peteys his dad .

anywyas after that they put lil petey to sleep or smth bc he was probs exhausted after that stressful shit ass situation and then its just dm and petey and its kinda akwward. and then the comic happens

and as for why its so jarring to dm that petey is bowing to him . the "bowing to priests is improper" thing is one part of it and this is bc a huge part of priest stuff is being . yk . humble. servant of god. but also this situation of petey subordinating himself to dm is Concerningly out of character . their relationship is at the point where they both subconsciously care about each other to some degree (so its not entirely antagonistic) and it makes dm uncomfrotable to know that he has a degree of power over petey in this situation and that petey thinks he has to go this far to keep lp safe . anywyas. #yay. i love being crazy
