Brushing your hands through Sabito’s coral-toned locks, you looked upon the peaceful forest ahead of you. It was mostly quiet, except for the occasional soft snores that left his and Makomo’s noses. She was leaning on a nearby tree, fast asleep. Sabito on the other hand was lying with his head in your lap, your singing having put them to sleep a while ago. You weren’t exactly sure how long they had been resting, for time was really difficult to measure here-and you weren’t exactly sure where ‘here’ even was.
Before your parents had been eaten by a demon and you had been orphaned, they would tell you stories about the afterlife. This wasn’t exactly what you were expecting though, and it didn't line up with anything you had been taught. Instead of a mass of white fluffy clouds and an endless blue sky, you were greeted with a never-ending forest of shade. It made sense though, you had guessed. This was where you had been trained by Urodaki before your demise during the final selection. While you were unsure why this place was chosen to be where you spent the afterlife, at least you weren’t alone.
There were a plethora of other children there, which you had later realized had suffered the same fate as you. You weren’t the most skilled out of the children and teenagers that Urodaki had taught in his many years, but he surely wasn’t braced for losing you like he did the others. He of course wasn’t prepared for any of you never to return, but he still held out hope of course.
Sabito was the first person you befriended when you got there, also being the one to explain to you what happened. Surprisingly, you hadn’t reacted the way he had expected. While you were still obviously shaken up when he explained your fate and why you were there, you accepted the information calmly. The last thing you could recall was the huge demon in the forest grabbing you out of thin air before you even had the chance to swing your sword at him. Befriending the other children that had suffered the same fate as you as well, you still remained close to Sabito.
Once Sabito had returned from helping to train Urodaki’s newest student, Tanjiro, he came and sat next to you on the forest floor.
“Do you think he will be able to defeat the demon?” After spending what felt like several years in this place, you’d come to realize that it wasn’t the afterlife-not exactly. That demon that had killed all of you needed to be dealt with before you could actually have peace and move on. After you leaned your head on his shoulder, he leaned his on top of yours and interlaced your fingers together.
“I sure hope so.” He responded, closing his eyes.
Oftentimes, the other children would ask you to sing, bringing them some comfort in this time of uneasiness. Being one of the oldest there (a year younger than Sabito), you were happy to do whatever you could to bring everyone some peace. When you stopped singing and combing your fingers through his hair, he opened his eyes in confusion.
“[First Name] what’s wrong?” He asked out of concern, sitting up.
“Look.” Following his eyes to where you pointing, he saw a distant light at the edge of the tree line that wasn’t there before. Instantly knowing what it meant, he smiled in relief. “He did it.” After you both woke everyone up and explained what had happened, you looked over at the boy you had come to love.
“You ready?” He asked, taking your hand in his own and rubbing his thumb across the back of it.
“Yes.” You replied, smiling back at him gleefully.

an: long time no see! I altered the request some so it would align more with the end of the manga, I hope you don’t mind🥲.
With the harshness of your injuries, you could only listen to the frantic voices around you and stare at the clouds as they floated on by. Muzan had thankfully finally been defeated, but it came at a large cost. More than half of the demon slayer corps had been wiped out or severely injured, including yourself. Although you could still feel the pressure that Yushiro was placing on the wound that covered a great portion of your abdomen, you knew it was no use. There was such an uncomfortable amount of dried blood on your skin, your [skin color] complexion underneath was barely visible and tufts of [hair texture] rested in matted clumps.
Placing a hand on your closest friend's cheek, he looked up at you with a frustrated yet tear-filled expression-but you only returned it with a gentle smile. Before the battle had even begun, you had accepted that your current fate could be your outcome, but Yushiro clearly wasn’t ready to do that. Having already lost Tamayo, you were the only person that he had left. Attempting to sit up, you coughed up even more blood, with Yushiro wiping it away with a spare cloth and trying to usher you back into laying down.
“You should be resting! If we don’t stop the bleeding then you’re going to die!” He scolded, fussing over your other injuries located on various other parts of your body. Though he had successfully bandaged everything up, there was no way you could survive this, especially since there were many other injured as well besides yourself.
“It’s no use.” You stated calmly, only enraging him more, clearly not ready to accept what was going on.
“You don’t understand!” He yelled. “Yo-You’re all I have left. I won’t allow you to die on me!” Placing his arms underneath your back and knees, he picked you up off the ground. Hurriedly looking for a free doctor around you, he scurried around all of the other injured that were lying on the ground. Though today was a great victory with the defeat of the demons, there was still a heavy thickness of sadness in the air as well.
“Hey Yushiro, you remember the first time we met?” You reminisced, resting your head on his chest and closing your eyes.
“Shut up idiot! Stop talking like you’re going to die!”
Several minutes later, when he finally did find a doctor that wasn't occupied with sewing up someone’s stitches, he received the worst news of his lifetime.
“I’m sorry, that young girl is already dead.” He responded, adjusting his glasses before turning to tend to another one of the wounded. Looking downwards at you horrified, he realized that hadn’t even noticed you going limp in his arms, and inevitably... taking your last breaths.
Laying you on an empty piece of fabric where the other deceased was lying, he crouched over beside you and choked out a sob. What did he ever do to deserve such a cruel fate as this?
“Yushiro,” Tamayo spoke gently, gesturing to you in the doorway. “This is [First Name], she’s a demon slayer from the corps. She’s just here to pick up some medications. I’ll be back in a moment.”
Staring at you with a glare, his usual frown deepened even further. They already had enough problems trying not to get found by Muzan, he didn’t need some dumb girl messing it up for them.
“Hi, it’s great to meet you!” You greeted cheerfully, smiling at him. Even only receiving an eye roll from him in return, you weren’t swayed in the slightest. When Tamayo returned, she held several of the medicine bottles that you had requested.
“Here is some of the medicine that you have requested, the final bottle should be downstairs in the storage room. Yushiro you don’t mind taking her down there to get them, do you? I have somewhere I need to be.” Though he wanted to say no, Yushiro was never one to deny Tamayo so he led you downstairs after you both bid her farewell.
“It should be in here.”
“Thanks so much.” You responded genuinely before scaling the ladder of the shelf where the last glass container of liquid that you needed was located. After retrieving it from the top shelf, you missed one of the lower footholds and went flying backward. Before you could hit the ground, you felt a pair of hands grab your waist and then set you gently back onto your feet.
“Care to not be so clumsy?”
You only giggled nervously, hands clasped tightly around the medicine jar in your hands.
“Thanks for catching me.”
Years into the future, Yushiro spent the majority of his time painting Lady Tamayo-amassing hundreds of portraits. There was a lot of recent buzz over his most recent painting, which happened to be the only one that wasn’t of her. This caused many more visitors to his gallery than he was accustomed to, making him far more grouchy than usual.
“The gallery is closed in five minutes and I said no more reporters!” He shouted, taking one of his paintings that had recently been sold at an auction off of the wall, not looking to see who walked in.
“Sorry! I just got out of class and this is my only free time.” Now somewhat intrigued, he began to head towards the voice. “I’ve always been a fan of your work and when my friend mentioned you painted someone who resembled me I just had to come to see it.”
His most recent painting was a portrait of you, the close friend that he had lost so many years ago. Yet, here you were, standing before him. You obviously looked different, wearing modern clothing and holding a school bag-with the same gentle yet nervous smile gracing your features. But upon making eye contact with him, your smile dropped and something changed in your eyes-could it be recognition?
Yushiro dropped the painting he was holding in shock and it clattered to the floor.

𝙖/𝙣: I did it in this format because the ask included spoilers and I know everyone isn’t caught up with the manga yet. I altered the scene a bit to match the request more, I hope no one is too occ.

𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙙 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩: 538
He knew that you were already gone before your body hit the ground, making an audible thump in addition to your sword clattering a few feet away. The patterned [favorite-color] haori was gradually dampening with crimson liquid, coming from both your lips and the wound in your chest. While the rest of your expression was sullen and blank, your [eye-color] eyes were wide open-frozen in fear-but they had lost all liveliness.
Zenitsu’s frightened expression immediately wore off into one of a sickeningly calm, no longer giving off any emotion as he tightened his grip on the hilt of his sword. This confused Kaigaku, who was questioning why his former friend wouldn’t be a blubbering mess on the ground right now. He had just slaughtered his fiancé after all. He thought that if he did so, Zenitsu would just lose the will to fight anymore-but he was mistaken.
In your attempt to shield him (who was too frightened to make a move against the upper demon moon, almost foaming at the mouth), you lunged in front of him with your sword-which, unfortunately, proved fatal. It wasn’t like you weren’t a skilled demon hunter, you were the current tsugoku of the love pillar in fact. But you weren’t in the best headspace at the moment, truthfully no one was. How could one be calm exactly at a time like this? Especially after what happened a few minutes prior to your battle starting.
“I’ll do it!” you squealed, causing the blonde blubbering at your feet to cease his sobbing. He stood back to his feet and took your hands in his own, populous tears still rolling down his flushed cheeks.
“You’ll do w-what?” he questioned, tilting his head in confusion, his voice cracking and faltering. This surely had to be some sort of cruel joke.
Rolling your eyes at his bewilderment and wiping your own tear ridden face clean, you leaned your head onto his shoulder.
“I’ll marry you once the final battle is over. I-I don’t want to be without you ever again.” you responded, mentally cringing at how cheesy your words sounded-but it was, in fact, the truth. Although he often went around flirting with every girl he could get near, you were the only one he actually held feelings for. Luckily for him, you felt the same. The issue was that you were always too afraid to say anything about it. The only reason you had decided to do so now was because of the uncertainty... the uncertainty that both of you would survive this.
In response to your confession, he only started bawling even more and enveloped you into an embrace. Little did either of you know, it would be your last.
Once he had defeated Kaigaku, he never got back to being his normally cheerful self. Even after all of the demons had been successfully conquered, he still struggled to find any happiness. Even when Tanjirou and Inosuke tried to help him, nothing seemed to work.
Of course, at times he could find temporary joy in some things, but it never lasted. The images of you taking your last breathe saving him would always be engraved in his mind. He would never cease to miss you.

we can already see how protective he is of his blood brother senjuro, so it’s most likely that he would be the same way with you.
being his fellow pillar you often accompanied him on a lot of his battles, so it wasn’t like he hasn’t seen you in danger before-he just didn’t expect you to jump in and take the hit for him.
after realizing what happened, his first priority would be to make sure the the demon that y’all were fighting was defeated.
secondly he would make sure that you got help as soon as possible, regardless of whether it was a serious/life threatening wound or not.
while he would be thankful that you took the hit for him, he’d probably give you a long talk and ask you not to do that ever again.
he considered you to be family, and he’d rather it be himself getting injured rather than you, even if that means he’ll lose his life. protecting his family will always be his first priority.

honestly, you’d probably have somewhat of a better relationship that he currently has with genya.
having said that, unlike their relationship yours was much healthier. you both were good friends and very protective of eachother-which is saying something in itself because sanemi is not someone that is easy to get close to.
it wasn’t unusual for y’all to get into arguments (like normal siblings do) and they were usually based around you being careless about your own safety.
so when you did decide to take a hit for him you should have been prepared for an earful.
once it happened, his first instinct would probably be to scold you for your actions while getting someone to help you with your injuries.
that wouldn’t be the last of his yelling, you would have to hear about it for quite some time. tough love I guess?
it isn’t that he’s mad at you, he just wants you to be safe and not recklessly in danger yourself.

like one of the real upscale ones where you have to make reservations and they usually aren’t too crowded.

since inosuke was raised by wild boars, it’s no surprise that he would have a hard time handling certain emotions.
as we saw with uzui, he gets attached to anyone that he thinks is more powerful than him, and it was the same with you.
and when I say attached, I mean it! he was like the annoying younger brother you always wanted: always copying you and following you around everywhere.
yea he could be a bit annoying and wild at times, but he was still your lil bro yfm?
so when the day came and he heard your crow return saying “[last name] has been killed in battle!”, it would honestly break his heart.
the worst part is he probably wouldn’t know how to properly cope with it, so he’s most likely react in anger unfortunately and get wreckless.
I can see him trying to go after the demon that killed you, but then being stopped by another pillar.
of course he would get over it eventually, but he’d be in broken spirits for some time. like you remember when he got all quiet after that one battle? it would be like that but a lot worse :(.
tanjirou and zenitsu would do their best to help him cope, but it would be awhile before he got back to himself again.
once he was, I still feel like his main priority would be to avenge your death, and no one could get in his way.

tanjirou has always been the elder sibling taking care of everyone else (not only with his family but also with the kamaboko trio), so it was nice to have an older sister figure in his life.
he could go to you whenever he needed advice or comfort, and you were just happy to have such a great little brother.
he’s already lost so many people close to him in his life, so I feel like when he heard the announcement he probably wouldn’t believe it at first.
once reality finally set it, he would probably give himself some distance away from everyone else so he could grieve properly.
unfortunately, this would probably bring him to a pretty depressive state for awhile.
I mean like I said earlier, he’s already lost so many loved ones in his lifetime, and now you? how could the world be so cruel?
once he was over it enough to the point where he could start going on missions again, he would want to avenge your death too.
but unlike inosuke, he would be more careful about it and consult another friend to come with him.
overall neither of them would ever fully get over your death (honestly who does tho?), you will always hold a special place in each of their hearts.

✄ after returning from a mission, whether it was high stakes or not-rengoku would most likely be glued to your side. he is a very touchy and affectionate boyfriend in general so this is a regular occurrence. he won’t go overboard though, especially if you aren’t comfortable with that. anywho, he would be very cautious and protective of you after you had been injured on a mission. even if it was something as meager as a small bump or bruise, he would be very caring and cautious.
✄ if the injury was more serious, he’d restrict you to bedrest until you were fully healed, no exceptions. I also feel that he would be the boyfriend that would lay in bed with you while you were injured, so he could be there if you needed anything (including cuddles ofc). rengoku would also be the type to cook all of your meals-like breakfast in bed and all that jazz. he probably won’t let you do anything on your own until your wounds heal. ngl he might get a tad bit overbearing, but it’s just because he wants you to feel better.

✄ so we all know giyuu kinda already acts like a dad to everyone so don’t think you’re going to be excluded from that just because you’re his s/o. even if you don’t have any injuries after a mission he’ll still be really careful with you regardless. even though the butterfly manor is reserved for taking care of all injuries, I feel like he’d want to do them himself if they were minor. why? because he’s stubborn and wants to ensure that they don’t hurt you (even though he doesn’t really know what he’s doing).
✄ once all of your wounds are bandaged and treated, he will literally refuse to let you complete any task on your own. need food? he’ll go cook some and bring it to you (I headcanon him as a pretty good cook). need some fresh air? he’ll carry you outside. this can get annoying but he just wants to make sure you don’t reopen any wounds or strain a muscle. our boi just wants the best for you :(. he probably wouldn’t lay in the same bed as you just bc he’d be scared of hurting you in his sleep, but he would still remain in the room to keep a watchful eye.

Can I request a scenario for Tanjiro and Giyuu reacting/how they handle seeing Uzui always flirting and asking their crush to be his wife? Just a random idea! Lol
Being an [Element] pillar for over several years, you were used to the current sound pillar: Tengen Uzui’s bothersome antics. Even though it was normally harmless flirting (even though he already had three wives of his own) and playfully pestering you to be his fourth wife; as someone who already has a romantic interest you couldn’t be bothered to care.
Your relationship with Giyuu could be plainly described as being close friends for a couple of years. His aloof and serious personality meshed with your reserved one quite well, you understood each other better than other pillars. Friendship aside, you had been silently harboring a crush on him for the past two years. Well, there were some other pillars who had their suspicions (*cough* *cough* shinobu and mitsuri *cough*) and would often tease the both of you, but he didn’t seem to care. To be fair he didn’t get upset about either-but ended up simply ignoring them. This is what caused Shinobu herself to hatch a plan to get you both to admit or realize your feelings. So that's how she ended up asking Uzui to flirt with you somewhere Giyuu would be able to see it.
Normally Uzui would quit trying to make advances towards you after a few minutes but this time around he was being rather persistent. Not giving him the time of day as usual, you attempted to side step him and carry on with your day. Sensing you were trying to leave, he kabedonned you against a nearby tree, making it more difficult for you to escape.
“Move Uzui.” you stated with a deadpan expression, not in the mood for his foolishness for the day. He only grinned in response and let out a hearty chuckle (probably thinking about the sum of food that Shinobu promised him for doing this).
“Not until you agree to marry me.” he responded, leaning uncomfortably close to your face. You were used to his annoying joking, most of the other female pillars dealt with it also-but this was getting to be a bit too much. You knew he would never dare to seriously cheat on his wives, Makio would surely have his head for it. Before you could even make another run for it, you turned your head to see someone familiar approaching.
Giyuu was on his way to deliver some supplies for Shinobu (who happened to be hiding behind a bush close by) when he noticed your current...situation. Unbeknownst to you, he had been feeling the same as you for quite some time now-so seeing Uzui pin you against tree made him feel some type of way. Sensing that you were uncomfortable by your facial expression, he took it upon himself to intervene.
Before you knew it you were released from Uzui’s grasp and face first into Giyuu’s chest with an arm wrapped snugly around your waist. You were used to him being protective of you during battles (you were friends after all) but not in this way.
“She’s said no before. What makes you think it was okay to continue pestering her about it?” he asked him, his cheeks flushed and a bead of sweat rolling down his forehead.
“I told you it would work!” the butterfly pillar shouted gleefully, springing out from her hiding spot with her hands raised.
“WHAT?!”
“Um, excuse me?” you questioned as kindly as possible, curious as to why the sound pillar was so interested in you all of the sudden. You had witnessed him playfully flirt with some of the other female members of the demon slaying corps, but he’d never come after you before.
“I could really use your help on an upcoming mission I have in the red light district.” he responded with a smirk, playing with a strand of your [Hair Color] locks before placing it behind your ear.
“I’m sure you’d rather ask someone with more experience right?” you responded backing away from the tall man, giggling awkwardly. “I am only a Kanato rank after all.” He only laughed at your words and stepped closer, taking your jaw into his palm.
“Oh but I need you for another reason.” he replied, leaning even closer, a bit too close for comfort. Your safety wasn’t exactly being threatened or anything of that sort, you came to understand that the man sometimes just had an interesting way of doing things. But this didn’t stop Tanjirou who happened to be passing by from assessing the situation negatively. From where he was standing it looked as if Uzui was about to attempt to kiss you, which didn’t sit well with him at all.
He knew that Uzui wasn’t one to attempt seriously cheat on his wives, but he wasn’t just going to allow this to happen. Approaching you two, Tanjirou pushed Uzui’s hand away and shifted you behind him, his cheeks reddening.
“I understand you like joking but I think you were taking it too far.”
“I just needed her for a mission but never mind.” Uzui responded, rolling his eyes and walking away.
“Oh, my bad.” Tanjirou chuckled in embarrassment and stepped away from you. There was no going back now, he was eventually going to have to disclose his feelings to you sooner or later. Little did he know you felt the same way.

Reaching a hand up to wipe a meager bead of sweat off of your brow, you wince slightly when your fingers brush over a healing bandaged wound. Letting a sigh escape your lips, you continue to trudge behind a fellow demon slayer you had been paired with on this particular mission. Even though the demon had been successfully defeated, the two of you didn’t escape unscathed by any means. While you both were littered in bruises and cuts of various sizes, you were also somewhat short of breath due to exhaustion. Upon hearing your shuffling footsteps soften behind him, Sabito turned around to you with a concerned look on his normally stoic face.
Although you wouldn’t consider yourselves as best friends ( certainly no one could come between his friendship with Giyuu), you were somewhat fond of each other some other pillars would say. Both of you had been paired on several missions together due to the fact that you got along so well. Despite getting teased by Shinobu and Mitsuri about how much time alone (even though it wasn’t like you had a say in it) you were spending alone together, you couldn’t say that you saw him as anything else other than a comrade. Though the other pillars jokes would get to your head at times, and you’d find yourself daydreaming about if things were different.
Approaching you cautiously and scanning your face worriedly, he leaned closer so you were at eye level and asked: “What’s wrong [First Name]?”
Flustering at the close distance and stepping back a couple of feet, you responded with a shaky “Um, I’m just feeling a bit out of breath, I’ll be fine though I promise!”
“If we want to get to the inn by dusk, we should probably hurry up.” His face returned to its normal state and he turned around and bent over slightly. “Climb on I’ll carry you the rest of the way.” After standing in shock for a couple of seconds, you begrudgingly climb on his back.
The rest of your journey to the inn located in a small fishing town was in comfortable silence, other than Sabito questioning if you were alright every 30 or so minutes. Grateful for your friend's actions, you couldn’t stop yourself from asking why he had done it? It seemed to go beyond just helping out a friend, or maybe you were just thinking too much into it as always. But one thing that you couldn’t deny was the weird not necessarily bad feeling that was beginning to flutter around your stomach. Eventually just summing it up to being tied to your exhaustion, you let yourself give into slumber and rested your head into collar of his haori.
When you next woke it was obviously several hours later. You lied bundled up in several blankets atop a tatami mat, and upon observing your surroundings-Sabito lied several feet away but on the floor. Noticing that you had awoken, he gave a shrug and stated: “They were out of mats and I figured you probably needed it more than me, so rest as long as you need.”
Frowning, you replied with: “But you just carried me several miles, you deserve a place to lay down.” you weren’t sure where you gained all of this confidence from but you then lifted the edge of your blanket slightly. “snuggling helps with a lot of things, so come here.”
An awkward period of silence took place after you said that. Only after watching his face grow into deeper shades of red was when you realized the weight of your words. “I’m so sorry! I wasn’t-I shouldn’t have suggested-Um.”
“[First Name], it’s fine,” he replied, brushing you off and scratching his neck awkwardly accompanied by a rare smile.
“Okay, well I still don’t want you sleeping on the floor.” He slowly crawled underneath the covers next to you. Of course, it was awkward at first but the two of you eventually fell asleep. Upon the return back to headquarters, you couldn’t push one thought to recurring in your mind, was he still just a friend?

no problem! as a woc myself, I’m trying to make it to where every skin tone can feel included when reading. I’m also trying to make sure everything is gender-neutral but I know I need to go back and fix some older scenarios.
What jobs do you think Giyuu, Muichiro, and Sanemi would have once all of the demons are defeated?
✰ Aight so right of the back I have a hard time seeing Giyuu fit into any profession after he is no longer needed as a demon slayer. As far as we know this has pretty much been his only job or occupation since he was younger so I don’t know what else he would particularly be interested in doing? Also, Giyuu is more on the reserved side so he probably wouldn’t want to be involved in anything with a lot of people. Even having said that, I can also see him maybe being a teacher of some sort? Not one who teaches in schools but maybe more so swordsmanship? Probably still staying in the realm of martial arts. It wouldn't be surprising to me if he took this route because his former master Urodaki taught him and I can maybe see him wanting to do that for others like himself.
✰ For starters I’m just going to use the age that he is now for the age he will be when the demons are defeated. At age fourteen Muichiro is still pretty young and a teenager so I don’t think he’d have a serious life long job yet? He’s an airhead and seems to get bored really easily so nothing too complicated would be ideal for him. I also think that he would get easily bored with something that might be repetitive or unchanging from day to day. So, I headcanon him maybe wanting to do something creative or artistic? Maybe a writer of some sort?
✰ So for Sanemi, I think he would want to stay in the realm of helping and protecting others. I don’t know why but I can see him as an officer or something like that? Like maybe after the demons were defeated he might move to Tokyo or another large city for a fresh start considering all that he has seen and been through. I also think that he might fit the occupation of an officer well due to his stern nature and already having a long background in the area of ‘helping others’ due to formerly having been a demon slayer like I said earlier.
a/n: I’m sorry these headcanons were shorter than usual! I did some research on jobs and occupations during the Taisho era and I couldn’t find much and I didn’t want to make any incorrect assumptions so I tried to keep their jobs as vague as possible.
edit: (spoiler warning) these were written before I had read the chapter where Giyuu gets his injury.
