Sometimes he struggled to fit in. He couldn’t switch off, couldn’t relax. He just struggled with people, I think. He was rude, yeah. Arrogant. Apparently lacking in anything resembling empathy. But I’d forgotten just how funny he could be. He was so charming. So…human. It’s bizarre because most people would say he was the most inhuman person they’d ever met. But he wasn’t. He was everything a good person should be. He’d just often say what he was thinking rather than lying to protect our feelings. Maybe we should all be more like that?

“How long have you two been together?” Mary asks, smiling softly as Cas holds on to Dean just a few seconds longer.

Dean’s still in shock. His mother. He knows Cas is just happy to see him alive, just relieved that he didn’t go up in an explosion with the Darkness, but he can’t focus on the angel’s hug, can’t return it. He can only stare at his mother, beautiful and magical and very, very real.

Cas answers for him when he can’t find words. “Almost eight years,” he says.

Mary’s eyes widen, but she doesn’t say anything. She just nods, her smile growing wider as she watches them.

Dean finally registers what Cas has said, what Mary must think, but he’s got other things to concentrate on, and lets it slide. He’ll deal with it later.

Only he never does. He doesn’t deal with it over the next month while they look for Sam, while Dean adjusts to having a mother again. There’s no time, and he’s much more interested in protecting everyone than correcting Cas’ statement.

He doesn’t deal with it for the first couple of weeks that Sam’s home, as they recover from one more near-death experience. Sam is more important, and Dean is too busy basking in having an almost complete family to care.

He doesn’t deal with it the first time Mary mentions that Dean and Cas never touch in front of her. “I’m not a prude, you know. You’re allowed.” Cas frowns like he’s thinking, then shrugs and reaches for Dean’s hand. Dean wants to laugh, to tell Mary that it’s all a misunderstanding and now Cas is just taking her statement far too literally, that it doesn’t mean what she thinks. But Cas’ hand in his feels so solid, so familiar even though it’s never been there before, that he doesn’t say a word. Mary beams.

He doesn’t deal with it until Cas is staying in his bed every night, their limbs tangled and tired, bodies flushed and sweaty, pressing sweet kisses into each other’s skin sleepily, unable to stop smiling. They stumble out of Dean’s room for breakfast, looking particularly disheveled, and Mary grins knowingly.

“I can’t believe I’ve never asked,” she says over coffee, “but how did you two get together?”

“That’s a funny story, actually,” Dean chuckles, and explains how it was actually her that brought them here, finally.

Mary reaches out to brush her fingers through Dean’s hair. “I guess Amara really did give you everything you needed.”

Dean glances between his mother and Cas, knowing Sam will wake up and join them soon. “Yeah.” He swallows hard. “I guess she did.”

FOREPLAY, FOREPLAY, FOREPLAY!!! You want to be good and turned on, like super turned on, coz the more you’re aroused, the more pliant and warm your vagina is going to be, and it’s more likely to allow a dick in without tearing. Like even when you’re giving birth, doctors nowadays will actually massage the outer rim of your vagina so that everything loosens up and allows A FUCKING BABY TO BE BORN WITHOUT TEARING YOU.

PREPARATION (WHICH IS SOMEWHAT RELATED TO FOREPLAY)!!!! If you have never had anything in your vagina before, you’re probs gonna need a couple fingers in there to help you loosen up. This can easily be tied into foreplay.

A GENTLE, UNDERSTANDING LOVER WHO KNOWS AND RESPECTS THE ABOVE HINTS!!!! You don’t have to be in love with the person you first have sex with, but it should be someone who respects you and your boundaries!!! Before having sex with someone, explain to them these things and your masturbatory experience, your wants and needs. If they don’t respect that THEY HAVE NO RIGHT TO BE ANYWHERE NEAR YOUR VAGINA.

Basically it comes down to this: if your partner says “it’s normal to bleed the first time,” sit him (or her) down and talk to them about what actually happens and how it’s supposed to go. If you have health problems that legitimately make vaginal intercourse hurt, there are a billion other things you can do with your partner, and you should communicate your health issues to every single partner. Again, if they respect that, rock on. If they don’t, tell them ‘adios’ and leave the bedroom.
