âStudent Mentorships:
To fulfill the requirements for their respective composition classes, upperclass and underclass music majors must either provide or receive mentorship with an assigned student for the upcoming recital. The piece must end up being performed by the mentee and meet instrumental technique and musicality expectations. Assigned mentorships are listed below.â
âOh boy,â Demyx sighed under his breath, pulling on the strap of the guitar case that was slowly slipping off his shoulder. His comp teacher had been mentioning a collaborative assignment for a while snow, but he really wasnât expecting it to take the form of a mentorship. At least it didnât sound too bad; Demyx would be able to handle mentoring, as long as it wasnât with a percussionist.Â
Demyxâs compositions were usually very melodic, so it doesnât really get along with percussion very well.
The guitaristâs cyan eyes hastily scan the list of students included in the assignment, until he sees who his mentee is and a smile grows on his lips.
âDemyx Lemerre - Tamaki Suohâ
Yes! Not a percussionist!Â
Itâd been a while since Demyx worked on the piano, but that surely wouldnât be a problem since his usual musical style would still translate well to the black and white keys. And although he never worked with Tamaki before since heâs an underclassman, he seemed like a really talented kid so it might even be fun mentoring him. Demyx pulls out his phone and sends the freshman a text, fingers tapping quickly on the screen before clicking send.
hey, tamaki! i just left jazz and saw that iâve been assigned as ur mentor for the music comp thing. lmk when u wanna start working on it!
