Welcome to the River (of denial), where we spend half our time living in the most unserious dorm room sit-com you'll ever see, and the other half violently unwell! Safe to refer to everyone as River, but honestly it's usually the host piloting this thing anyways. This place is a shitshow and I'm pretty sure someone's fallen down somewhere
Under the cut is headmates, important info, and DNI! Spoiler alert: it's not that deep! Have fun, don't drown, we aren't liable for any water damage caused. Current count: ~14
》 Fair warning, we're making this up as we go along! This isn't intended to be anything of importance, but seeing as this is a pretty big learning process for everyone, I made this blog as a sort of personal journal to use at our discretion. Might include some actually heavy things, but it's mostly bullshit and whatever we find to reblog
》 No, I'm not diagnosed with any CDD. No, I do not claim to be, nor do we use the term "system". Yes, we're still figuring things out
》 I see that there is discourse. We simply do not care. It's annoying. We're fucking tired. Don't even start with us. Yes we have trauma, no I will not be elaborating. Probably
Some of us might make individual, more detailed descriptions/intros, but here's a rundown! Whatever. Go my roommates /ref
《☣️》 Kit/Kitty (she/they/it/he/any); Host, running the blog.
《🗡》 Alex (he/him/they); Secondmost authority, usually some level of present.
《🪶》 Heather (she/her/they); Former mediator figure, usually absent.
《🌶》 Pepper/Pepsi (she/it/pop); Hyperactive raccoon, usually present.
《🌌》 Illuminus/Lumis (he/they/void/vae/hy/hyx); Watcher fictive/fictionkin, usually absent.
《🐾》 Bug (she/her); Semi-host and little, usually absent.
《🩻》 Simon (he/him); Iron Lung fictive?, unknown activity.
《💠》 Jester (they/he); generally an annoyance, unknown activity.
《 ? 》 (No name) (she/her); nervous, unknown activity.
》 Keep in mind, we struggle a lot. There's a lot of denial (see also: username) and uncertainty and weird ass feelings about this. Host has a tendency to get in her head, so Kit's made a tag to avoid any trigger warnings: 《.biohazard warning》
DNI: Ha, you thought. Honestly, that shit doesn't really work anyways, and half the time it's easier to just block people. No justification needed, it's not always personal, but follow your own DNI I guess
Sometimes my brain does what I call a split second mental “refresh” which leads to me abruptly getting disoriented and going “ah! I just had a refresh.” It is unclear what to make of this because I made the term up
to carry on from my last post about how the psych industry is incredibly biased and imperfect. we HAVE to stop pretending the current understanding of the human brain is the ABSOLUTE FINAL TRUTH with NO WIGGLE ROOM and NO POTENTIAL FOR CHANGES IN THE UNDERSTANDING OF ANY PART OF HUMAN PSYCHOLOGY.
you know how up until only 40 years ago, people thought autism was a male exclusive phenomenon? how common psychology facts are constantly being restudied and debunked every year? that will KEEP HAPPENING! AND THAT'S OKAY! PSYCHOLOGY IS AN EVERCHANGING FIELD! all you have to do is use the current information and frameworks available as a STEPPING STONE. the current understanding of psych is incredibly useful! but it's NOT THE CONCRETE UNCHANGING TRUTH OF THE UNIVERSE'S MECHANISMS.
with all that out of the way. speaking as someone in a system with substantial trauma. can I please ask that people spend less time being unkind to systems without substantial trauma? thank you kindly!
we saw the plural vaporeon and thought it'd be super cool to see a plural eevee in the same colours, we think that'd be amazing pretty pretty please,, (eevees can also be multiple think of the parallels :3)
It's really, really common for newly-discovered systems to struggle with certain things.
It's common to have a hard time talking to each other internally. If you can talk to each other, then it's common to struggle to know who's talking.
It's common to have a hard time knowing who's in control, who's talking to you, or who's in your head.
It's common to struggle with spotting or controlling switches.
It's common to struggle to get along with some or all of your system.
It's really common to struggle to believe that your experiences are real (even when you know that you find the framework of plurality helpful for explaining your experiences!).
These things are all skills. You can and will get better at them with time and practice. Struggling is not a permanent state or personal failing. We live in a world that doesn't teach you these skills, and you're trying to learn them anyway. That effort is something to be proud of.
Working with your system (and fighting off denial/doubt) gets easier the longer you've been doing it. You learn what works for you. You won't always feel like it's all overwhelming, messy, fake, or whatever other "I'm not good enough" feelings you might be having now.
The systems you see who seem to have it all together have had more time and practice at working with their systems. Sometimes, they've had life environments that gave them a head start in building these skills, but your life circumstances don't decide whether you can get better at these things. You can still learn these skills without that head start.
You might struggle with other feelings in the future, and there will always be something to work on, but the things that you're struggling with right now will get easier. The systems who seem to have it all together are still learning things too.
If you're about to send an angry or hateful ask or comment, then please do yourself a favor and block this blog instead. We will never answer these messages, and we will block those making them. Please enforce your own boundaries and save us both the trouble.

Common Plural Experiences: A fairly well-rounded list of common plural experiences. Some of these experiences are common in non-plural folks, but if you're checking a lot of boxes or these things happen to you more intensely than seems typical, then it may be worth questioning further.
Plurality is not a checklist. You may have a lot of the experiences in the above resource, but that doesn't inherently mean that you are plural. There's no sharp line in the sand between plural and singular experiences.
Am I Plural?: Plurality is not a specific diagnosis or absolute thing, but a chosen framework for understanding your mind. If it works, then you get to use it.
On the topic of "is this a headmate or [something else]?": It's not necessarily about what it is, but what helps you live with and understand it.
