They made the bars so big for a reason
(TUMBLR SHES CENSORED PLS DONT FLAG!!!!!) (art by raelbe on 🐦)
If you want to see the the full thing where Travis isn’t being selfish and covering everything up you can click here by the way
Today is a good day indeed
There are times when Travis unintentionally reveals his attraction to Laura by trying to do the exact opposite - hide it. He lies and uses diversion tactics but they actually have the opposite effect. It’s a case of someone’s desperate attempt to try and cover something up actually revealing much more than if they had just left it alone.
This exchange between them is one such instance but the moment in question isn’t until the very end of the conversation.
Laura: The second we get out of here you’re toast, mother fucker!
Travis: Sure.
Travis: The second you get out.
Laura: Wait- Wait - We’ll…
Laura: answer your questions. (his face here LOL)
Laura: You just can’t lock us up in here with no goddamned explanation and expect us to be all butter and cupcakes, okay? Just work with us here!
Travis: You have nothing to bargain with. ⬇️⬇️⬇️
A lot of eye movement and blinking going on here.
His response, “You have nothing to bargain with.” doesn’t reveal much on it’s own but let’s take a closer look at where his eyes wander as he’s saying it.
This puts the meaning of, “You have nothing to bargain with.” in an entirely new light, a light that gives him away: a big-ass spotlight called Sexual Desire.
Also..
He’s lying because he doesn’t want Laura to know that he’s attracted to her. And he doesn’t want her to know that he’s attracted to her because it’s a weakness that she could possibly exploit and he can’t afford to risk that. Nevertheless, his lustful gaze betrays him and only serves to bring attention to the very thing he’s denying. Laura very much has something to bargain with should she so choose.
As he walks away, he smiles confidently and laughs to himself as if saying, Yeah, I did it! Take that, temptress!
He’s so proud of himself and thinks he’s just done an amazing job of hiding it when he’s actually failed miserably.
Instance number two..
While Travis’ approach in the previous one relied on lying straight to Laura’s face, his approach here relies on the aforementioned diversion tactic.
Travis: Nice job cleaning up.
Travis: The eye, I mean.
When he says, “Nice job cleaning up.” he is, indeed, referring to her eye but he very spur-of-the-momently feels the need to clarify this further with, “The eye, I mean.”
A bit of over-clarification, wouldn’t you say?
Why would he want to make extra sure that Laura knows he’s 100%, absolutely, positively talking about her eye and NOTHING else? It’s because he’s afraid she might take, “Nice job cleaning up.” as - You clean up nice, the famous pick-up line.
And the way he says it.. he puts stronger emphasis/inflection on the word eye, specifically.
“The EYE, I mean.”
He panics and overcompensates in his effort to make clear the fact he isn’t flirting, diverting attention away from the possible misunderstanding but consequently drawing more attention to it.
In other words, he isn’t flirting with her in this particular moment but because he’s madly attracted to her and doesn’t want her to know, he worries that she might catch on anyway and unnecessarily camouflages it. This has the opposite effect and makes his attraction stick out like a sore thumb.
If Travis was truly not attracted to Laura at all then the need to do this would not have even occurred to him. He would have just said, “Nice job cleaning up.” and been done with it. There would have been no need for any further clarification, no need to use it to cover up his attraction.
Also, he’s drinking and being under the influence makes one more vulnerable and open to persuasion. He would be much easier to seduce in this state and he knows it.
Reblogging again because yesssssss

How did you make that physical copy???
Ohhhh I'm soo happy you're asking! Bc it was my first time doing that and it turned out so good! 🥰 I formatted the story, the text itself, in InDesign and created the cover in Illustrator. If you look closely, you can see that the lines aren't exactly symmetrical, but that didn't bother me and I'm happy with how it turned out. I also added some small graphics, like the cocktail glass or the ornament around the page numbers. I was inspired by the AO3 story!🍸
Then I sent the PDF to a print shop, which printed and bound the book. That's it 🤍😊
Witchcraft, I say.
Adding this here. Was struck both by awe and flattery to have both Ted raimi and maja sign my copy. Words cannot fully express how truely enchanting and surreal that moment was for me. 🖤
Also died a little on the inside when the man opened it, started reading it and said something along the lines of "Oh, wow. This is a little spicy." THEN PROCEEDED TO TURN BACK THE PAGE TO UNDERSTAND WHAT HE WAS READING.
I am thankful for the friends I've made from this community, and blessed I was able to meet Kori, Maja, and Maria. I've learned so much from all three in the short days I was with them - and will forever apply the lessons to my life. Truely, my experience with my friends was a main chapter in my life, that I will draw back on.
Please don’t let fandom ruin something you love. Walk away and unfollow the fans and enjoy the thing by yourself, or find a limited circle of people who ignore the discourse, or get your irl friends into the thing and collectively ignore the Internet community, or blacklist from here to the moon if you need to and only ever scroll through your rarepair ship’s tag on AO3. But don’t let fandom distort a show or a movie or a book or a comic you used to love so badly that you can’t enjoy the original anymore. Please. It isn’t worth it.

Stuck between her dreams and the underground life of illicit activities, she must carve her way out or be pulled more towards the depths of the Underworld.
I am completely in love with the story that was written for me as part of the Hackearney Fic Exchange 2023! I'm so impressed with what was created out of my prompt and I am looking forward to the author's reveal so I can properly thank the so far anonymous writer.
(For this post, I stole the banner and divider from the author's AO3 fic without asking for permission bc lol author is unknown. I hope that is okay! 🌚)

@densofyarrow from here.
It was honestly amazing how fast this young woman before him could increase his blood pressure. He'd responded to overdoses, suicides, and broken up more than his fair share of bar brawls. Her? She tested his damned patience like no one and nothing before.
Before he can tell her just what she can do, she lists off a number of things not currently relevant to her situation. That blood pressure continues to climb. It causes him to grit his jaw tightly, the pressure making his jaw pop audibly.
When she suggests something actually plausible, he gives a slight shake of his head. "There ain't no way in Hell I'm giving you a portable camp stove." He let the sentence hang for a moment. "But maybe I can," he glances down at the tray with the messy sandwiches on it, "change up the menu."
She didn't know, after all, that this was coming right out of his pocket. No taxpayers were funding these meals. Money was tight at home, but . . . he could think of something. Cut back on his own dining out . . . show up for dinner at home more.
The thought made him uneasy. One of the perks of earning his own income, a decent income as far as he was concerned, was the ability to use it to put some space between himself and his family. Space was good when you had a mother like Constance Hackett.
As the gears in his mind worked, he ran his tongue along his bottom lip in thought. Decision made, he straightened and pulled out his notebook and pencil. Tapping the tip to his tongue, he pressed it to the paper.
"Any allergies I should know about?" he asked, loud enough for Brinly to hear, too.
Hacketts questions were starting to make her head spin. She had retrieved the dishes before he head jerked to him.
First, he forces her and only her to scrub the bars, then he asks her a personal question of her goals? Now he's making small talk?
That man is going to give her whiplash with his mixed signals.
"Uh...Rabies?" She bends over to slide the dishes under the bars. "It can't multiply in a host that can't keep a certain body temperature, the chances of a human surviving is almost zero percent, but other animals have like...a fifteen percent chance of surviving."
She begins rattling facts from the top of her head. "But - kinda. As long as you get vaccinated before the virus gets to the brain."
"It's all stuff you can just google." Laura shrugs. She moves to the jail cell, waiting for Hackett to open the door. It was so strange, how openly he was talking to her. She nearly welcomed conversation from someone other than Max.
15%. He didn't like those odds. But what was his brother, anymore? His niece? His nephew? They weren't humans anymore. Not in the strictest sense, anyway. They healed up fast. They'd never gotten ill since the bite. What if this particular infection had similar attributes to rabies but without the lethal consequences? To the host, anyway. Plenty of lethal consequences for anyone close to the host when it manifested.
But these were big ideas. And he didn't have a mind for it. Hackett was specifically good at the things he had been trained to do. Both from his parents and the academy. "You can't trust everything you read on Google," he waves her off. "Better to go to the source. Hands, please, ma'am," he gestures for her to put her wrists through the gap in the cell. "You know the drill."
Hackett removed the handcuffs from his belt, metal grinding as the cuffs open. His thumb brushes along the curve of it thoughtfully. It was clear he was still in deep thought about what she had said. Especially the bit about a vaccination.
"So, let's say a person gets the vaccination. And then they get bit by a creature with rabies. Does that person die? Or are they um . . . immune?" he asked. "Or is there a possibility for it to mutate or somethin'?"
Again, Laura frowns. She was hoping he'd relaxed his suspicion around her enough to walk her out without handcuffs.
She's tired of being treated like a captive.
Her hands thread through the bar slot, extending for him to restrain. He makes quick work, locking them in place around her wrists. Contact was breif and fleeting, but she found herself missing the heat of his touch as soon as he withdrew it.
Her cuffed hands draw back to herself, a mindless thumb circling where she was touched.
She was tired of feeling isolated as well.
His next question throws her off again. Her cuffed hands reach up to scratch the side of her face, not sure how to answer him. "Mutation is always possible, happens all the time."
She slowly walks to the door of the cell, eyes not leaving his frame. She didn't know what to think of him having this conversation with her.
A scene from a role play @sheriff-t-money and I have done. It's been a real treat to wake up and write snippets with you, starts my day off with a smile 🥰
