It’s So Pretty
Pairing: Valentin x GN! reader
Warnings: none, just fluff
It was getting to be winter, your first winter with the blacklight to be exact.
It was late autumn and the days began to get bitter. One particularly cold day, you decided to visit Valentin down in the cells. As you walked down the steps, you noticed how the temperature dropped even further the deeper down you went.
You reached the floor level, and tapped your key card on the door lock. The doors opened quietly, displaying the long hallway of cells.
You approached the first cell on the left, your vampire friend already expecting you.
“ Jeez it’s cold in here.” You muttered, passing through the UV barrier. Valentin gave you a smile.
“ Indeed, it appears the Director would prefer me to die by the cold.” You frowned, you knew he was joking, but you made a mental note to get both him and Mrs. Carpenter some blankets.
“ So what has my favourite operator been doing? Killing vampires out in the snow?” He hummed, handing you a cup of tea as he sat down. You took a seat in the chair opposite him before responding.
“ Actually, I’ve never seen snow.” You spoke, taking a sip of your tea. He stared at you eyes slightly widened.
“ You’re kidding, surely…?”
You tilted your head in confusion as you set your tea down.
“ Nope, not joking…is that not normal?” He set his tea down, offering you a hand. You take his hand, giving him a confused glance.
“ Val..?”
“ Well that just won’t do.” He stated, pulling you through the UV barrier. He scooped you up in his arms, being careful to not crush you. The second he flew up the stairwell, the alarms started blaring.
“ I told them I could’ve broken out whenever I wanted, honestly I’m surprised they didn’t have more counter measures.” He commented, moving through the halls of the building.
Operators gave shouts of alarm as you passed, but honestly you were more worried about Valentin potentially dropping you. You clutched his jacket tighter, burying your face into his chest. He smelled like cigar smoke and fancy cologne. Nice. He smiled down at you, continuing his path out of the blacklight. You passed Jamie, who was slack jawed, and Larissa who honestly just looked super confused. He flew out the doors of the building, flying over the forest that surrounded the area.
“ You can stop hiding now darling, I promise you’re safe.” He spoke, coaxing you out of his jacket. You stared at the trees whizzing past, letting a smile overtake your face. He finally came to a stop, floating slowly to the ground.
Snow.
He had taken you to a snow covered meadow. He set you down gently, gauging your reaction. You bent down and picked up a handful of the frozen water.
It’s cold…weird.
It started to melt in your hand, you grabbed another handful, turning to Valentin.
“ It’s so pretty.” You mumble, looking from the snow to him. He gave you a small smile as you brushed the snow from your hands.
“ It snowed a lot back in my home country, winter was the best time of year.” He re - called, a trace of a smile on his lips. You noticed how the snow crunched beneath his shoes as he spoke, and gasped.
“ It’s so crunchy.” You muttered, entranced by the snow. Valentin chuckled at your antics. You picked up some snow and ate it.
“ Y/n, you’re not supposed to eat it, you dolt.”
“ Oh so you’re too good to eat the snow?”
“ Darling it’s not clean-”
“ It’S nOt ClEaN.”
“ Are you mocking me?”
“ Maybe,” You said with a smirk. “ But I mean it with love pretty boy.”
He froze, and so did you.
Fuck. Didn’t mean to say that last part out loud.
“ I mean it with love too dragostea mea,” He stated with a grin, “ That’s why I’m telling you that eating snow isn’t good.”
“ Shush, don’t ruin the moment.”
