Camp Kesem Opportunity

Camp Kesem DePaul is a chapter of Kesem National and was first established in 2016 with the goal of helping children throughout the Chicagoland area whose families have been affected by cancer. In its second year, Camp Kesem DePaul had nearly 40 campers and over 20 volunteer student leaders. Camp takes place in Fredonia, Wisconsin, and is a week of fun and fellowship, while also providing an environment of communication and support that directly impacts the development of campers during this hard time in their lives. The ages of campers range from 6 to 17 and counselors must be current DePaul students (Spring 2019 graduates are able to apply) with a passion for helping others.  Camp this year will take place from August 18th – 23rd, and we are still looking to recruit counselors! Participating is a life-changing experience and a great way to gain leadership skills and volunteer experience.

Summer Program Support Team, Beth Osten & Assoc

Beth Osten and Associates is a pediatrics-focused clinic in Northbrook, Illinois. Our clinic is unique in that we offer a variety of services to children with special needs and their families, including occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech-language pathology, developmental therapy, and mental health.

We are looking for interns/volunteers for the Summer 2019 day camp season. Students involved in your program may be interested in applying to become members of our Summer Program Support Team (SPST).

Examples of recreational day camp programs offered during the summer may include: art, various sports camps (golf, tennis, “American Ninja Warrior”-style, traditional sports...etc), cartooning, dance, musical theater, outdoor adventuring, cooking, and creative writing.

SPST members can help therapists plan and run these recreational day camps while learning from their interactions with our clients, families, and staff. Participating in our program can also be a great opportunity for students to explore different potential career paths in working with children, as well as provide the opportunity for valuable experiences when applying for employment in the future.     

Beth Osten and Associates has been supporting families in the northern suburbs of Chicago for over two decades. We are excited that we now have the chance to further expand and develop that support with our SPST!
