David Foster Wallace - “This is Water”
So happy this video is available again. (I think DFW’s estate DMCA’d the original post a few years ago booooooo)
I can recommend watching this a couple times a year. We all really need to hear it.
Panda Bear - Boys Latin
It’s past midnight, and if you’re under some kind of chemical influence, please let Panda Bear be your electronic sherpa for the next five minutes. The experimental musician and Animal Collective founding member recently took over a late night slot on Adult Swim to premiere this suitably trippy, computer-animated video for “Boys Latin,” the 2nd single from his forthcoming album Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper.
Directed by Isaiah Saxon and Sean Hellfritsch from Encyclopedia Pictura, the hallucinatory video follows a woman as she wanders through a surreal, pulsating fantasy landscape of hills, tidal pools, and familiar aquatic creatures. This peaceful stroll quickly escalates into a bad trip after she curiously touches a sea anemone and becomes the victim of some truly spectacular body horror. She later stumbles upon a man being swallowed by another anemone, and the two transfigured travelers become entangled in a phantasmagoric duet of chaotically colorful synesthesia.
As if this video wasn’t already mind-warping and visually arresting enough, Panda Bear just yesterday added another bizarre piece to the digital rollout of his new album (out on January 13th): an interactive website bursting with more striking psychedelic visuals and sounds. You can navigate through the site on your computer or mobile phone (Chrome is recommended), and it’s a bit like flipping through channels on some kind of nightmarish television set from hell… which is to say you should definitely go check it out once you’ve unglued your eyeballs from this video.
Find it on Amazon or iTunes.

The Brooklyn Beta wave.
Back in November 2012, we released Tumblr for iOS 3.2, our first fully native version. Version 3.0, a from-scratch rewrite which came out the previous June, had plenty of native code as well but used web views to render lists of posts. At the time, I wrote:
