Yes, it’s been months… once again… but the latest chapter is finally here!

So… as you’ve probably guess, the comic idea didn’t work out. But I have good news…

DESCENTALE HAS BEEN UPDATED WITH CHAPTER THREE!

I am so sorry for all the silence. I wish I had a better work ethic. I wish I took better care of myself so that I wouldn’t be too tired to actually get things done. I wish I had said something, anything, to indicate what’s been happening behind the scenes.

I don’t know what to say or do except try my best to keep going. It’s not easy to write fanfiction when you’re as all over the place as I am.

Strengths: Impossibly strong for a man of his build; suplexing a boulder would not be out of the question for him. Unquestionably loyal to Reed, even putting his life in danger for him. Has an insane amount of discipline. Also has one hell of a poker face; if you looked up “stoic” in the dictionary, you’d find Johnson’s picture.

Weakness: Johnson is never permitted to show or express any sort of emotion, nor is he permitted to partake in any activity that could render a strong emotion.

Name: Reed “Ed” Hunter-Smith, a.k.a. “Rush the Determined”

Occupation: CEO and founder of Eden Corporation, a company that secretly owns pretty much every human-run business on the planet, using its profits to conduct private research projects, as well as run surveillance on anyone Reed considers his enemies.

Hobbies: Rose gardening, making homemade rose hip tea

Magician Ancestor(s): N/A (he is not a Descendant)

Magical Ability: Reed is a highly-experienced sorcerer who is capable of many feats, a sort of jack-of-all-trades when it comes to magic. However, he is not particularly strong in any single area. What he lacks in power he makes up for in knowledge, being one of the last humans on earth to possess true knowledge of the arcane. For years, he has been developing new spells, technology that utilizes magic, and magical artifacts of his own design. He’s also insanely rich, and is pretty much the most powerful man in the world in that respect.

Worth mentioning is that Reed has created a spell using dark magic called a “Soul Lock”. By placing mystical chains and locks on a person’s soul, certain emotions - or even ALL emotions - can be restricted, thus rendering the victim incapable of feeling said emotions. This can be devastating to other magic users, as magic is an expression of the user’s feelings.

Also worth mentioning is that Reed is the only magician on the planet who knows how to create monsters artificially, using magic, dust, and his own soul power. Has he done it before? Maybe.

Spellcasting Technique: Reed uses a metal staff with a crystal orb to channel his power however he sees fit. A human like him can’t use magic without the aid of a tool.

Strengths: Reed is a master of manipulation who will charm your pants off. He has an insane amount of knowledge about many topics, not the least of which is magic. He has crazy stamina in hand-to-hand combat, he’s a crack shot with guns, and good at using staffs as weapons. And despite being the richest man on earth, he manages to keep a notoriously low profile.

Weaknesses: While his physical stamina is excellent, Reed’s magical stamina is lacking in comparison. If he performs a particularly powerful spell, he needs to sit down and rest afterwards. Reed is also overly confident in his ability to cover all his bases and knowing what to expect from others. He has every right to be confident, yes, but he’s always left at a loss when things don’t go according to plan. And when things don’t go according to plan, he gets angry, and then all hell breaks loose.

Name: Shannon Wahl

Age: 40′s

Soul Color: Light Blue

Occupation: Psychological therapist

Hobbies: Collecting owl memorabilia and casually (read: intentionally) freaking people out with her collection. The birds are in her blood.

Family: Otis Wahl (father; deceased), Athena Wahl (mother; deceased)

Magician Ancestor(s): Ascala the All-Seeing

Magical Ability: Shannon’s ancestor was a warlock, who had long ago made a pact with an owl spirit to have increased awareness: to see through lies, deceit, and illusions; and to access the astral plane and project their spirit anywhere in the physical and mental realms. Years later, Shannon has inherited all of that power.

Shannon’s ties to the astral plane make her feel many emotions at once, and so it would be easy to be overwhelmed when she projects. If she is not careful, she could be stuck outside her body forever. Also, she needs to keep herself level-headed in order for her to see through deceit and illusion, or she’ll be fooled just as easily as everyone else.

Spellcasting Technique: Shannon places her hands beside her head, palms forward, and flaps them.

Strengths: Has the patience of a saint, is incredibly open-minded, fun-loving, and is never afraid to be herself. It’s also hard to make her angry; she can be annoyed at times, but full-on anger from her is rare.

Weaknesses: Shannon’s tiny stature and eccentric personality makes it difficult for people to take her seriously sometimes, so she has to work extra-hard to get people to realize when she’s right. Fortunately, she has the patience for that. The time, however, depends on the situation.

Name: Raymond “Ray” Montag

Age: 40′s

Soul Color: Orange

Occupation: Firefighter

Hobbies: Watching football, reading, and generally leading a quiet life when he’s not working.

Family: None, nor does he desire to have any.

Magician Ancestor(s): Robin the Courageous

Magical Ability: The ability to control the elements. Water, fire, earth, air, wood, metal, or electricity, Ray can manipulate them with ease. He’s sort of like Aang from “Avatar: The Last Airbender”. The stronger Ray’s emotions are, the more powerful his magic becomes.

Spellcasting Technique: Ray makes hand gestures in tune with whatever spells he casts.

Strengths: Has a strong body, a friendly and humble personality, and a big heart.

Weaknesses: Despite having friends, he refuses to get too close to anyone. Ray has a fear of intimacy, because he knows he could easily die on the job, and doesn’t want anyone to miss him or be sad when he’s gone.

Name: José Diego Francisco “Pepe Dago” Rodriguez

Soul Color: Purple

Occupation: Professional flamenco dancer and instructor

Hobbies: He doesn’t really have any. He pours almost all of his energy into his love of dance. However, he does like caring for his pet, Pumpkin, a Mexican redknee tarantula.

Family: Juan Rodriguez (father), Paula Ruiz (mother; deceased), a bunch of unnamed relatives on his father’s side

Magician Ancestor(s): Halah the Nimble

Magical Ability: José can influence the emotions of other people, whether it’s through his dancing, or merely by interacting with them. His naturally infectious and passionate personality makes it easy for him to do this. At the start, he never does this on purpose. But when he starts to gain control of his magic, he’s able to do it on command.

Spellcasting Technique: Dancing

Strengths: José’s body is very nimble, flexible, and swift; in a fight, he is able to dodge attacks with ease. He also has tremendous stamina, able to outlast even the most energetic opponents. His father had taught him how to defend himself since he was young, so José can bring the smackdown on someone easily, but only if he absolutely has to. He’s also highly intelligent and charismatic, able to improvise plans on the fly, and talk his way in and out of just about anything.

Weaknesses: José always puts his loved ones above all else, and while some might consider that a strength, it’s also something someone can easily take advantage of. He even forgets sometimes to take care of himself in favor of the people he cares about. He also has a terrible tendency to hide his negative feelings behind a mask.

Magical Ability: Tucker is basically a male witch. He can tap into the surrounding environment and draw out their magical energies, then use it to affect the physical realm. This includes healing spells, protection spells, purification spells, and the occasional love spell. In other words, he uses “support” magic.

However, the effectiveness of Tucker’s spells depends highly on his emotions. Positive emotions can help his spells be executed perfectly, but if his emotions are negative, they can go horribly wrong.

Spellcasting Technique: Hugs himself, then quickly throws his arms outward

Strengths: Very kind and generous to those whom he feels deserves it.

Weaknesses: Has limited patience for stupid people; holds grudges; and can be kind of an ass to people who anger him.

Magical Ability: Dot is an enchantress, able to create illusions that fool even the smartest people. With practice, she might be able to make her illusions real. Her illusions may warp and falter if she does not remain level-headed.

Spellcasting Technique: Finger-guns at her target

Strengths: Not easily intimidated, despite her short size. Keeps her cool at all times. She also has, as her soul color indicates, a strong sense of justice that will not bend… though this can be a bad thing as much as it is a good thing.

Weaknesses: Jaded by her sergeant job, as she hates giving orders to people, and she really hates the politics involved in the police force. Acts bigger than she actually is, which can be risky. Secretly stressed out, depressed, and tired. Has an intense fear of being alone.

Magical Ability: Like Emily, Norman has the ability to see people’s memories. Unlike Emily, however, he cannot feel any emotions that were tied to those memories. This power activates whenever he feels a strong emotion. Sadly, Norman’s most frequent emotion is anger, so chances are one will not be able to witness his ability unless they piss him off. And that’s incredibly dangerous…

Norman is currently training to be a blood mage, a type of magician that manipulates the essence of human life to their whims.

Spellcasting Technique: Norman draws his finger across his neck in a threatening gesture.

Strengths: A complete charmer. Even at his age, he can pull off a certain boyish charm that everyone falls for. Analytical, methodical, and good at planning.

Weaknesses: Constantly allows his anger to get the better of him. Easily irritated. Hateful. Secretly afraid of everything, but would sooner die than let anyone find out.

Magical Ability: Francine has the ability to summon animals to do her bidding. Upon being summoned, the animals temporarily share a mental link with her, following her directions and responding to what she’s feeling. Fran must be careful when she summons something, because if she’s feeling aggressive or angry, that animal will either fear her and not follow her commands, or they will become aggressive as well and do unwanted damage.

Spellcasting Technique: Random hand gestures

Strengths: The ultimate mother figure - human, plant, animal, whatever, she’ll be there to take care of you.

Weaknesses: Incredibly eccentric, and a bit obsessive. Also has a short attention span.

Strengths: Highly affable, adapts to most situations with ease, talented actress, uninhibited, good at making people happy.

Weaknesses: Secretly depressed, to the point where she’s close to becoming an alcoholic. Makes inappropriate jokes and observations at the worst possible times just to get a reaction.
