I know pets don't care about gender identity - why would they? - but every time I see a pet owner misgender their own pets deliberately, I feel it is incredibly bizarre and kind of fucked up.
For example, there's this one queer guy on YouTube who owns a pet duck. This duck is biologically male, yet his owner always refers to him by a female name and feminine pronouns.

Read a Tumblr post recently that asked why we don't watch stories where we root for a couple to break up instead of getting together, and I have a realistic answer for that person.
I was a little kid when my parents got divorced. Before they divorced, they were always yelling, screaming, and cursing at each other, and generally making my life a living hell. When they told me they were divorcing, I was EXTREMELY FUCKING HAPPY about it. My parents and even my stepmom thought I was sad, but no. I was ECSTATIC.
Do you have any fucking idea how mentally, emotionally, and psychologically exhausting it is to watch two people in a failing relationship constantly fighting each other? It's draining for everyone involved. It's not entertaining at all.
You want audiences to sit through stories where the couple is screaming at each other and tearing each other apart before they can finally break up and end the tension? Congrats, you're going to torture them. The story stopped being interesting at the very start and became tiring. THAT is why we don't have stories like those.
I don't understand how cis people obsessed with gender norms think trans people are the weird ones. they're going around believing that your name has to correlate to your genitals. your fashion has to correlate to your genitals. your behaviours have to correlate to your genitals. your hobbies have to correlate to your genitals. who you date has to correlate to your genitals. whether you can put sparkles on your eyelids or not has to correlate to your genitals. and then people like me go "hmm. I just spent my child/teen years with structured institutions like school while not having to worry about whether I had a roof over my head or food to eat and spent my early adult years using up every bit of adrenaline I will ever have to ignore the fact that I've been chronically burnt out my whole life.
