I was soooo scared they were going to do routes again. But it doesn’t look like the case this time??? Pls. But also the player character being called the true protagonist. 😭😭 I wanted the four to be the focus.

Also also casually showing Seteth. I didn’t even register the name, but when I heard Mark Whitten start to say a line I’ve heard one million times……

It does seem to be a prequel. So that is also a plus for me.

What the heck. This was kind of fun though. They kept slowing me down and grabbing me!!! I didn’t realize Haste negated Slow completely. :0 Luckily I had quite a collection of Hermes’ sandals, so after equipping them onto Celes and Sabin, it became much more manageable. Also a Ribbon on Celes to negate poison damage. Then Bio’d them back!!!

Dag nab. I did enjoy Devil’s Daughter. Phoebe being the perfect blend of both her parents. So headstrong!! And I did enjoy seeing so much of Vincent and Evie. I hate again that they use titles for them instead of first names. They do feel kind of like they never aged though. You can’t convince me they’re grandparents.

Idk if I’ll check out the other books. I’ll think about it.

Finally almost done with the Cupid Parasite FD. Free me. I’m getting a little burned out on fan discs. I almost want to start a new game next instead of Birushana’s FD, but!!! It’s Birushana!! I almost want to replay Yoritomo’s route. Truly his is the route I think back to most. I just hope… Shungen and Benkei aren’t too much of a slog to get through.

I think overall I’m disappointed with the Cupid parasite FD. Taking into consideration both routes and characters as a whole, my ranking is:

1. Ryuki

2. Peter

3. Allan

4. Raul

5. The other two

The one I enjoyed the most from beginning to end is probably Ryuki. Peter is very entertaining as Peter/Chii. Alan has a great backstory. But both fan disc routes just had too many issues.

I think I will allow myself to skip the extra stories for Gill and Shelby. I made it through the main route. That’s enough for me. I just have to get through the new parasite’s route…..

I think there was a version of the game that worded this part differently. Glad the pixel remaster kept this.

I bought it since it went on sale at its lowest price yet on the eshop. Even with my backlog. I started playing it just to get past the beginning a bit, thinking I would play for like 15 minutes. But here I am an hour and a half later.

Love love love the QOL changes. This time for sure I’ll finish this game.

The soundtrack is too good. I almost stuck with the classic soundtrack, but I’ve heard what they’ve done in the first three pixel remasters, so I decided to check it out here too. Beautiful. All of them great. Except for maybe Mt. koltz. I think I still prefer the original there. 🤔🤔

Almost called Terra Tina just because. Almost called her my name just because she’s basically the main character for now. I’ve always loved her. 😭😭 and I was just the sort of audience they targeted by changing her name to Terra. I’ve grown to love other characters more since first meeting Terra. But still.

For a game I really only experienced through my brother as a kid, it truly is special to me. Encompasses so much of what I love about Japanese media. It’s a little corny to me now, where as a kid I took it more seriously.

No way Ryuki’s hair can turn into that with just water/styling. Unless. 🤔🤔 Since he seems to have dyed his hair black for the ceremony, maybe he grew it out too??

See I like the idea of physical video games. But then I hear stuff like having to play your 3DS cartridges every few months to keep them working and ughhhh. That’s too much work.

I have a bunch of 3DS games that are going to stop working soon, because I won’t be able to keep up with this maintenance. And yet if I had bought them in digital format, they would be fine as long as my 3DS remains fine.

I think I would have been able to back up my files locally too. So if there was a problem with my sd card and I wasn't able to redownload them from the eshop, I'd still be good.

And then the physical space it takes up. I love the boxes, but to carry them around everywhere with me in life? Idk. It's not as important to me anymore.

It all breaks down. I will lose access regardless of whether it's in physical or digital. I'll let other people do the work of archiving physical media. I don't think it's for me. I'll stick to just playing my video games in the now.

I've been buying a lot more digital media in the last couple of years, because my games have been cheaper that way. Plus the 10% discount on eshop gift cards I get at Costco.

In the end one of the things that really matters to me is cost. The savings have made digital worth it for me. I still go physical if cost isn't a factor though. But now I'm thinking I might stop prioritizing physical media. I don't have the capacity.

Anyway, all that being said about my 3DS, I actually installed custom firmware and have installed all my games digitally. With copies saved in local storage. Truly the best solution for me. Digital media convenience without being at the mercy of Nintendo's servers. That's the kind of archiving I'm interested in. Having this, I'm less concerned about my physical media degrading.

Whew. Finally done with Gill’s route. Finally done with my two least favorite people. Next is Raul. I should be excited. And yet. It feels like I won’t truly be excited until I see Ryuki again.

I remember liking Raul though. So surely I’ll enjoy his route significantly more than the prior two.

Hm. Maybe I should just skip to Ryuki to revitalize me. But no. The least to most liked order must be followed.

So excited for my other visual novels tho!!! But the one at a time order must be followed.

Thinking 9RIP or Olympia next. Oh but also Birushana FD??? That might take precedence tbh. I miss them. And also I like to play fandiscs before the details of the original game start fading from my brain. The FD prioritization rule must be followed.

Birushana!! Yoritomo….. I wanna replay his route again tbh. It was so good.

My disappointment at returning to 3H world!!! my love of fire emblem!!! At odds with each other. The lore inconsistencies people are finding in the trailers. A whole missing island in the map??? I don’t wanna try to understand the lore. It’s too messy.

I still preordered the CE though. 😎 and unfortunately I’m still excited!!!

I still don’t get how preorders go live. Unless the trailer specifically mentions the date, I never seem to realize preorders open. All these years and I still don’t get it.

Anyway FE CE sold out at Nintendo store. :/ it’s fine. I usually get my fire emblem from a physical store near me. But…… I wanted to use my eshop funds. For that 10% discount.

Playing violet this time around. On my switch 2 tm. Not bad. I sprung for the dlc too and it’s great so far. Carmine is perfect and Kieran is cute. I love when people are tragically, drastically misunderstood/villainized. It’s so sad and terrible. And gets me every time!!!

Very very casually replaying sacred stones. I can never remember if I finished it. I think I did. First playthrough I dropped it in the last few chapters. Maybe because I used up Myrrh’s dragonstone too soon. And also because the thrill wasn’t there? Second one I’m pretty sure I stuck it out to the end. I think. This time for sure.

Anyway I got unexpectedly stuck at the Ephraim/Eirika route split. Why can’t they just stay together?? 😭😭 I’ve trained myself since a young age to always play as a girl character if I can. And so I’ve always gone Eirika. But tbh I don’t remember it being that interesting. And I heard Ephraim has the tougher maps?? Plus I do like Ephraim.

If only Seth was an Eirika exclusive unit. 😭😭 Then maybe this would be easier. It just feels so wrong for Eirika to send Seth away. Everyone else, sure, go with Ephraim. Seth should still be fine. But to leave Eirika with no Renais support?? It’s not safe……. No matter how friendly they are, why would you trust your princess to foreign troops??

Ephraim has proven to be reckless, so him going off on his own makes more sense in my head. As does him leaving behind his knights. Of course he would do that. He’s shown he is able to overcome terrible odds. But my Eirika?? She’s too kind. Too trusting.

Am I babying Eirika??? I need to be there to watch over her……

Basically the more openly and genuinely they’re besotted with their wives, the more I like them. Which is why Alisander ranks so highly among the karadok men. Sincerely apologizing and befriending Gunnilde just to get back in his wife’s good graces.

One of the few names I sort of remember. Though I frequently forget who he is, because they keep referring to him as Viscount Bardulf. Idk who that is. Truly the superior Oswald though.

Seeing my Cuthbert grow up book by book. He’s no longer a baby, but still a good kid. And just as weird. I’m glad he remains very knowledgeable on herbal medicine. And as mysteriously prescient as usual.
