But S’yhuh awakening came some time after he left his tribe. He was curious about men during his time in the tribe, but of course, discouraged to ever explore anything in that area.

Once he actually begins to travel outside the bounds and restrictions of “family”, he did notice there were a lot of handsome men. A lot. And women. And everyone in between of all different kinds of lifestyles.

He eventually began to just realize something important to himself: he just likes everyone and everyone is lovely looking and ethereal.

💋 - Their first kiss

This wasn’t the same, this wasn’t the same. This was not the same! He yelled at himself, again and again in his mind. The evening had been lovely and, seemingly for once in a lifetime, the streets of Ul’dah had been mostly empty. Maybe it was the area of the city they were in, maybe it was the time of night, there were many factors. None of them really helped S’yhuh’s anxiety and worry.

The past few nights had been very pleasant in fact. He had been meeting very frequently with a member of his adventuring party and company, a bard named Zuma. She was a miqo’te like himself, albeit a Keeper of the Moon as opposed to himself. He was still but a novice to adventuring and she was absolutely more than happy to show him the ropes. And ropes of other kinds as well. Sightseeing, attractions, food, you name it. The bard had shown her new black mage friend so much beauty to be seen, and that was just in their surrounding area. They had almost been spending too much time together. S’yhuh had worried about them going out together, night after night, until Zuma had assured him that he could rest easy. ‘Hells,’ she had joked at him earlier in the night. ‘you could even call this a date if you want!’ In reality, they had.

S’yhuh, on a date? Now that was a thought that he had dismissed as nigh impossible. Especially after the catastrophe had had been his previous “love life” if that’s what one could call it. No, the days of his tribe were over and in the past for S’yhuh. And in his mind, his days of desire and pining and want for attention. The man had written himself off as “fully undesirable” after the embarrassment and felt he was far too weak to be deserving of any love. But here he was. On a “date” with a beautiful woman, one who clearly had interest in him as she had been spending so much time with him. Her left hand on his and her right gently touching his cheek. And the touch filled S’yhuh with fear.

This is not the same! He repeated to himself in his mind again and again. Back in the tribe, S’yhuh only had any experience with this sort of thing when he held that position of power. And it hadn’t been out of affection clearly. There were so many factors as to why he had received that sort of adoration from his tribe, and remember them made him sick to his stomach and very core. But he braced himself. He told himself over and over: this was not the same. This was someone who valued him. Someone who actually viewed him with worth. Someone who cared about him.

The bard’s fingers gently stroked across his cheek as she gave him a clever little smirk. Leaning in to the man, their lips met and pressed, locking them both into the most gentle and sweet kiss S’yhuh could ever image. It was, well, tender. And it was nice. It seemed to last an eternity in his mind, but it was only a second or so before they broke it back. Both miqo’te smiled a bit bashfully at each other.

“There, see? That wasn’t so bad was it?” “N-No. It was…different. It was. It was lovely.”
