New Tumblr site http://joewilldesign.tumblr.com/!
Sneak peek at two recent projects for Delhi Telephone Company. On the left is a welcome folder, on the right is a telephone directory cover. The themes for them are about connectivity and smart home offerings.
LIFE IS SHORT. BITE HARD! Poster design for amazing film about a rescued Belgian malinois. MicaPie CrankyPaws (of the title) came from very rough beginnings before finding her human pack, and this movie is that story. Filmed by Jessica Vecchione, Mica’s human, Heather Rolland, and premiering July 11, 2015 in Pine Hills, NY.
Two different projects, same great SPACE! Not only am I happy to have been commissioned for these projects, they appear in one of my favorite buildings on the SUNY Oneonta campus. LEED Silver certified Fitzelle Hall is naturally well-lit and trafficked, which makes it the ideal location to display these program/diversity banners and Graduate Studies panel graphics. Thanks to everyone at SUNY O. for the opportunity to make these projects a reality!
NOW IT CAN BE REVEALED! If you’re a NASCAR fan, and who isn’t, you might have seen the SpongeBob takeover of Kansas City Speedway. I had the pleasure of designing the driver’s stage for the event, which made the small screen as well as some web home pages (that’s NASCAR and Fox Sports shown in the second row). Designing large-scale work is a blast and this was no exception! Special thanks to the folks at Nickelodeon for the opportunity and direction, NCR for creating the great imagery to play with, the project people who kept things on track. Oh, and some guy named KAWS also designed some stuff too, including the trophy(!).
This was a quick, fun logo project for sometime collaborator and the best videographer in the Catskills, Jessica Vecchione. Be sure to check out her commercial work and documentary projects!
STAY IN SCHOOL! Summer school, that is! SUNY Oneonta promotes continuing education classes over the summer, with premium giveaways and a poster series I designed. Each poster relates to a giveaway item, such as a branded frisbee or sunglasses.
Had the chance to be at the SUNY Oneonta campus and got to see the banner I designed for Hunt Union. Also created an insignia, featuring the likeness of Mr. Hunt himself, which is making appearances around the Union. Good people and great events!
The Catskill Mountains Film Festival is offering film making workshops again, this November 8, 2014! Great classes by industry professionals on topics such as cameras, lighting, script writing, sound, and MORE! Register easily online. Submissions are also being accepted online through March 1, 2015. Above is the workshop poster, designed by yours truly.
Created the graphics — lower thirds, titles, and captions — for the MARK Project's public awareness video with Vecc Videography. Such a great group of people to work with!
Part of the MARK Project project included an update of the logo, in addition to video graphics. The MARK folks are a great bunch to work with, and doing GREAT things.
My good friend, Craig, puts on music shows in the Orlando area under the pugilistic nombre Punching Babies. He's got a big show with international acts coming up in Oct, which I heartily recommend, if you're into the punk rock (with a dash of pop thrown in). This is the poster he asked me to do to promote it.
Just a reminder that the Catskill Mountains Film Festival is coming up again! As with last year there will be film making workshops offered (in November), with professionals giving talks and demonstrations. Open to any skill level or age.
Films can also be submitted for 2015's film fest. Go to catskillmountainsfilmfestival.org for more info.
Here's a fun video I created graphics for, briefly explaining the benefits and process of biomass fuel (an important topic, especially here in the northeast). This was brought to life by the talented, amazing, and always busy Jessica Vecchione, of Vecc Videography.
Collateral for the Great Western Catskills has been coming together for the past year. Starting to be quite the collection. I'm not just the designer, I totally recommend the Catskills!
Another HUGE project wrapped up this week: The Catskill Mountains Film Festival. Three days of films and almost a year and a half of hard work for everyone involved.
I can finally share some logos I worked on for the newly open Nickelodeon Land Parque de Atracciones in Madrid, Spain! After many months (and for which the rest of the team spent a couple of years on), I was pleased to see how the finalized logos and signage were utilized. Dig the dimensional eyeball in the Café logo! I couldn't be prouder to be part of this effort. The group really is like family and I'm honored to work with them every time.
Also provided concept and art direction for marketing collateral, seen in bottom image.
