Studio Dáárheen participates in the group exhibition 'Digestible' at artcenter Artphy.

Artist and speculative designer Nicole Spit gives her vision of the field bean of the future in 6 works of art. On display are her works of art in which nitrogen fixing root nodules, 'field bean blood' and the future of agriculture are discussed.

This special group exhibition, dedicated to the protein transition, presents new works by international artists: Anna Dumitriu, Ana Kun/Dan Perjovschi, Marc Bijl, Mitzi Schreuder, Dasha Tsapenko, Nicole Spit, Maro Pebo, Danielle van Vree, Špela Petrič and Domenique Himmelsbach de Vries.

The exhibition promises to be a unique experience, in which art in relation to the protein transition is central. You are most welcome to the opening of the exhibition 'Digestible' on august 5 from 3 p.m. to admire the exhibition.

Artphy Digestible book : "For Nicole (speculative designer and artist), science is the starting point. What is going on under the ground, in that soil that is doing not so good. What is the future of agriculture? Do we have to choose between technological developments like genetic engineering or can we learn from ancient techniques and the plant and soil systems themselves? Or a combination of both? Not long ago, nitrogen was to most people a meaningless, invisible chemical compound in the air. Now it is one of the biggest problems in the Netherlands. We just don't have a picture of it. Nicole depicts how field beans, working together with rhizobacteria, bind nitrogen." 2023

In this intriguing lecture, speculative designer Nicole Spit will take you to the world of tomorrow. Speculative design explores plausible future design products and scenario's based on current developments and existing recent scientific knowledge. Nicole reflects in her art and design often on the tension between the makeable, manipulable and the idiosyncratic character of biological nature. This time she raises questions about future products in relationship to our forests. What if we could use a 'Synthetic Tree Root Communicator' to interfere with the myceliumnetwork underneath the trees, the Wood Wide Web? What if we use genetic manipulated plants or animals in our forests? Should we discover the soil world underneath us like the deep sea and space? How can we merge forests and urban design? Speculative design can be a great inspiration and discussionstarter for designers, business, students, scientists and everyone who influences the future. Thus, also for you.

The BioTronicols by Studio Dáárheen are products which combine living cells with electronics. The BioTronicols are  part of the project 'NeoBio'

"The surnames are typical for the Dutch region where i grew up, Twente. Whenever i here someone calling those kind of surnames in for instance Amsterdam, my thoughts go immediately to Twente. However i feel totally at home in my new environment, nearby the Dutch coast, Twente still gives me the 'at home- feeling".--- With the synthesized memory pill, the pill activates  exactly those neural pathways in your brain to provoke your personal 'at home- feeling' just by use of chemicals and adjusted neurotransmitters. The MMRY Synthesize Set consists of six items; a Catalyst, an Extractor, a Translator, a Converter, a Synthesizer and a personalized pill.) 5 ZAT souvenirs with typical surnames for Twente. : 'Averink', 'ten Brummelhuis', 'olde Wolderink', 'Geerdink', ' Bökkerink'.

The MMRY Synthesize Set.

Is it possible to synthesize the 'home feeling' , so that that exact feeling can be artificially generated in the brain by means of a personal neurotransmitter pill? Soon.

(The set consists of six items; a Catalyst, an Extractor, a Translator, a Converter, a Synthesizer and a personalized pill.)

Wouldn`t it be nice to take the 'at home feeling' with you to wherever you're going?

Studio Dáárheen is deelnemer aan 'Zuhause - At home- Thuis' Het Tandemprojekt is een samenwerking tussen Marion Tischler/Bramscher Bahnhof D. en MIKC/Kunststation Delden NL. De twee kunstinstellingen zijn beide gesitueerd in een voormalig stationsgebouw waar de treinen nog steeds aankomen en vertrekken. Concept van het tandemproject is: Een KUNSTKIOSK op beide stations met ZUHAUSE/ATHOME/THUIS souvenirs die de reiziger het thuisgevoel mee op reis geven. Het thuisgevoel op reis mee nemen, maar ook je thuis voelen in een nieuw land. Hoe zou je dat kunnen bewerkstelligen? De ‘Z-A-T’ souvenirs zullen laten zien hoe een souvenir kan appelleren aan het thuisgevoel of je in gedachten weer even thuis laten zijn. Deelnemers ca. 20 internationale kunstenaars op elke locatie
