Surf Dive 'n Ski have recently opened an exciting new store at Westfield Miranda. Being a first class redevelopment centre the brief called for a more creative and bespoke approach to the shopfront.

Design Gallery worked together with Snell Architects to produce a rolling dynamic wave feature with illumination to crash against the display window. The effect makes for a statement entrance which compliments the styling and design of the interior.

MDM Travel and Events is a boutique travel agency specialising in luxury travel, resorts, spas and cruises. The store was designed to have an elegant and inviting feel reflecting the relaxed costal location, appealing to the demographic of the Marina Mirage.

Overall the space caters to the requirements of the travel agency, while maintaining a unique and fresh feel.

iBarber

Westfield Mt Gravatt

iBarber is a chic, modern barber shop located in the newly refurbished Mount Gravatt Westfield Shopping Centre.

The Shopfront is eye-catching, striking and masculine, featuring full height glazing and a floating, textured black timber element which wraps around the corner location and creates the perfect backdrop for the stores large, iconic ap-shaped logo.

Internally, modern finishes such as gloss black bricks, grey toned timber and bright white dibond create a fresh and contemporary aesthetic.

Tara Thai

174 Wickham St,

The refurbishment of Tara Thai has transformed the restaurant into a light, clean and contemporary dining space. The concept brief was to create a fresh design identity, and to make the space lighter and more inviting throughout, with the addition of a car on the mezzanine for future function events.

The solution exposed the gorgeous timber floorboards and installed a simple materials palette, with natural materials and potted plants creating a relaxed yet modern environment. Stained ply is used effectively to bring the whole design together; from perforated screens on the shopfront, through to functional wall features and bench style seating deeper in the tenancy. The yellow pop colour brings the concept to life, inspired by the client's cherry sunshine napkins.

Cooly Hair Colour Café

Cooly Hair Colour Cafe is a cafe/hair salon as the name suggests, is located in the heart of Coolangatta.

Nestled in an 80sqm space with adjoining outdoor seating area, the fitout design has a modern-industrial aesthetic, showcasing rustic brick and timber cladding, glossy white joinery and modern charcoal accents.

The Large pendant light, suspended over the large colour bar, was custom designed to create an architectural feature element within the space.

2014 Wrap Up

Thank you to everyone who made 2014 an enjoyable year. We love working with such creative and pleasant clients and colleagues. 

This year we've worked internationally and throughout Australia including locations such as the exotic Solomon Islands, our major cities and regional areas. We have enjoyed working with all our clients and business partners and completed many successful projects throughout the year. 

  Our team here at Design Gallery have had a very busy schedule in 2014, and we are very proud of our team members, who have been outstanding in contributing to the success of our organisation.

Jash Living, had a dedicated following through its online store, and were looking to expand out to create a physical retailing experience as a premier destination for elegant fashion, home and giftware. Encompassing a broad product range including women’s fashion, accessories, homewares, scents and furniture, the retail space needed the flexibility to showcase these items in creative and interesting merchandised zones. 

  Additionally the shopfront was to be a signature element reflecting and reinforcing the presence online, creating an iconic and classic design which would have strong associations with the brand. A subtle and sophisticated pallet of warm neutral tones and interesting textured finishes create an chic setting for the merchandise to be displayed.

  CUA is currently undergoing numerous upgrades of existing branches throughout Australia.  Design Gallery has been engaged to facilitate this process and is producing documentation in a timely manner for the fitouts. 

  Wynnum in Queensland was the first of many and as you can see the results speak for themselves. A fresh, welcoming and modern interior was created with client, users and customers all pleased with the outcome.

Cooly Hair Colour Café

Cooly Hair Colour Café is aptly named after its location in central Coolangatta and the services it has on offer - uniting the art of hair styling & coffee making in one! The industrial-chic salon & café space was inspired by the client’s desire to utilise genuine recycled and reclaimed materials.

A minimalist colour palette was introduced, focusing on bright white, clean black and natural timber, with an injection of real brick, exposed block work and sleek glazing, to create a strong & timeless interior.

Liberty Hair Salon

  Liberty Hair is a new and upcoming Salon in the heart of Noosa Civic. The design of the elegant salon reflects the image and level of service provided in this upmarked pampering experience. 

  Using luscious materials and opulent finishes the salon has a welcoming, and luxurious feel to it. A creatively individual shopfront with organic shaped screens provides a showcase window for patrons passing by. The high ceilings are played up to with generous mirros for the cutting stations, and feature pendant lighting. The overall effect is a warm and relaxing environment for patrons and staff.

Little Birdee

  Little Birdee, a young and vibrant Brisbane-based cafe franchise has opened a new location within the St Andrews Hospital premises in Spring Hill. 

  With a fervent regard to sustainable and environmentally- friendly practices (the name Little Birdee itself embodies the notion of 'cradle to grave') the materials used throughout the fitout were of low impact and locally sourced. Plywood was used heavily throughout and the strong and youthful logo colours, yellow and black, were introduced via bright wall graphics and loose furniture. Offering a sunning and cheerful setting for patients, hospital staff and visitors alike.

Surf Dive 'n Ski

Over the past year, Surf Dive 'n Ski have been ongoing in the rollout of the new store concept throughout Australia. Design Gallery has been assisting in design and documentation of stores located in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. Emporium in the heart of Melbourne now boasts a 350m2 A grade store, where planning challenges and site constriction have helped create an individual in engaging space.

  Indooroopilly and Kawana locations have both recently been opened with the more traditional application of the design concept. With 4 new stores in development, and additional refurbished stores, Surf Dive 'n Ski and Design Gallery are moving from strength to strength. The relationship between both companies allows for an efficient and comprehensive turnaround of sites, strong application of concept and ultimately an end result everyone can be proud of.
