Being a pangkey fan is so weird nowadays. No I will not elaborate. Not right now at least
Do people understand? Do you realise? I have spoken to several people in this fandom, active on tumblr btw, not twitter or anything, who are so anxious about their pangkey posting because of how negative people have become about this. The tag is dying AND ITS NOT JUST CUZ THERES LESS PANGKEY CONTENT. I know theres still plenty of fans around.
But, between people who resent pangkey fans over discourse dating back to the realm, people who are trying to call pangkey (REAL PEOPLE BTW) queerbaiters and people who have been in the fandom losing interest due to the lack of content and deciding either a) pangi and lukey must have partners irl b) the fandom behaviour they themselves have participated in is parasocial (<- a word that is most often used incirrectly btw) or c) rpf shipping them is only for freaks and weirdos, its insanity inducing. Especially since there isn't as much content, it feels like we're being kicked while we're down.
And yeah I get it some pangkey fans are annoying. But like. All this negativity has killed off so many people from this community. Its not that the ship has died. Sure, they flirt less but people are just as hyperfixated as before.
So lets clear some stuff up.
No, not all their flirting is for the money, pangkey enjoy this, they have openly said that AND they do it off camera. They have also openly said theyre fine with being shipped, so idk why were getting all "stop being invasive about this" from. They aren't doing this for us, actually, they wanna flirt on minecraft smps and when they hang out irl and thats THEIR decision.
If you think private speculation in private places (tumblr) based on public information is invasive, then surely the people who speculate about pangkey having partners are just as invasive (trust me, its a lot more common than u think if u haven't seen that). And no it isnt invasive either that people have looked at a man who hasnt labeled his sexuality and assumed hes not straight (although ill admit with pangi that topic is more complicated and comes with the layers of questionable "calling pangi gay" joke related baggage).
Annoying chatters aside, most of the pangkey fans arent really doing anything particularly bad. Like I feel like yes there are people who cause issues in this fandom (like there are in every fandom) but mcyt in particular has this superiority complex where there must be a group that is more problematic and that has become pangkey rpf fans because pangkey has been decontextualised from the realm and their 2025 content and become "two random (assumed straight) white men" in a "popular" ship and somehow that makes everyone seem crazy and over the top when it comes to them.
And I get if you dont ship them anymore but thats a you issue. Its not that the fandom has suddenly become unbearable or that pangi and lukey are magically unshippable. Sure, they talk less on camera, and they flirt less but that doesnt erase anything they did in 2025. Dont start doing revisionist history where we forget the ancient texts (or do revisionist history and pretend that the people you criticise were any "worse" than you used to be urself).
So uh. Can we be normal again please?
