'Dots Obesession on A-POC' By: ISSEY MIYAKE & Yayoi Kusama (1999-2000)
'Dots Obsession' visually approximates the hallucinations Kusama reportedly suffered as a child, in which the entirety of her surrounding space was covered with repeating patterns.
1999-2000, Yayoi Kusama collaborated w/ ISSEY MIYAKE using a white 'A-POC King & Queen' as a canvas upon which to paint.
Update: Chaima
Yesterday we thought Chaima Ameziane was going to open Saint Laurent but it was actually last season. Yes, it happens to us to get tired too... No worries, though, she walked the FW23 show (and shined again on the runway despite those huge sunglasses) after appearing in the brand's SS23 campaign by Juergen Teller.
Rare and precious but definitely one to keep in mind, this one-of-a-kind beauty working with Viva has probably more possibilites hidden in her sleeve. Of course, we'd love a full polaroid set but how couldn't we be delighted by these portraits by Oleg Borisuk? And hopefully we'll get to feature her work on this page again, the sooner the better.
Update: Fatou Seck
Everybody's favorite? Almost and, if not, it's something on process. Fatou Seck, discovered not so long ago by The Olz wearing a now-infamous mask, only needed three polaroids to become an instant favorite here.
Also represented by The Claw, she went from Fendi to Dior couture via Valentino, Double magazine and more. Selective, A-list bookings that matter are always a treat for a model on the rise. Now, as today comes to an end and tomorrow sounds as busy as heck, we're just in the mood for (sharing the) love. May the good winds carry you forward, Fatou.
Update: Rachael
Who said London fashion week is useless and shamelessly boring? Not us for sure. Latest proof to date, Burberry's F/W 23-24 show, opened by rising star Rachael Carruthers, one of our recent favorites. This peculiar beauty secured the best spot of the runway show after working for sought after magazines like Dazed or AnOther. We're already tuned for the next moves and evolution of her book at Storm Models and beyond.
New Face: Zinnia
If most of our time is currently dedicated to the current show season, we're not close to give up the relentless quest for brand new faces, no matter where they sit at the moment and how long they've been modeling. This morning, we stopped by KT Mgmt, whose motto is clearly stated on their homepage: "not your average mother agency". And there we got caught by the beauty and skills of Zinnia.
"Not your average new face" would sound like a good depiction of what we felt looking at her test shots. Soft with a twist of darkness (unless it's the other way 'round), the 5'9"5 tall young sprout isn't signed internationally for now but we bet it's just a matter of time until it happens. Who would seriously overlook her? Obviously not us.
