Blessing at the Burning Bush
by Jan Richardson
You will have to decide if you want thisâ want the blessing that comes to you on an ordinary day when you are minding your own path, bent on the task before you that you have done a hundred times, a thousand. You will have to choose for yourself whether you will attend to the signs, whether you will open your eyes to the searing light, the heat, whether you will open your ears, your heart to the voice that knows your name, that tells you this place where you standâ this ground so familiar and therefore unregardedâ is, in fact, holy. You will have to discern whether you have defenses enough to rebuff the call, excuses sufficient to withstand the pull of what blazes before you; whether you will hide your face, will turn away back towardâ what, exactly? No path from here could ever be ordinary again, could ever become unstrange to you whose seeing has been scorched beyond all salving. You will know your path not by how it shines before you but by how it burns within you, leaving you whole as you go from here blazing with your inarticulate, your inescapable yes.
âForgive the past. It is over. Learn from it and let go. People are constantly changing and growing. Do not cling to a limited, disconnected, negative image of a person in the past. See that person now. Your relationship is always alive and changing.â ~ Brian Weiss âŸ
Forgiveness is so powerful, we often consume so much energy holding onto anger than we do from simply letting things go. Forgiveness does not mean we have to allow these people back into our lives, rather it allows us to move on from a situation and release ourselves of any suffering đ

âBefore you awaken to what you are, ten thousand words and a myriad of spiritual experiences will not be enough. After you awaken, just one is too much.â
â Adyashanti
When we feel emotions arising like anger, shame, jealousy, we often will think that we are the ones reacting. As we gain clarity in our spiritual practice, we come to see that this is the ego.
The trick is to remember that we arenât reacting to the ego, the ego is reacting to itself. You donât have to stop your reaction, because itâs not coming from you. Itâs coming from conditioned behaviors and beliefs.
Observe this. Ego plays with ego. Know yourself as the one who sees this.
Facing personal truths and purging yourself of addictions or manipulative habits require strength, courage, humility, faith, and other qualities of a soul with stamina, because you are not just changing yourself- you are changing your universe. Your soul is a compass. Change one coordinate in your spiritual compass, and you change your entire lifeâs direction.
There is no light without shadow and no psychic wholeness without imperfection.

you gotta laugh at how god literally wonât let you have what is not meant for you. you will not force anything. you can pray all you want. if itâs not meant for you, itâs just not happening. god will snatch it right from under your feet and replace it with what you deserve. that is the difficult but lovely truth we have to face.
âEveryone carries a shadow, and the less it is embodied in the individualâs conscious life, the blacker and denser it is.â
