A regular, flawed human being,
To be visually appealing.
Why? Am I addicted to perfection,
And when I fall short—which I will,
I give myself no understanding,
All the years of self-hatred, thoughts of my death,
Everyday, I’d exclaim, alright life, what is next?
There were not many others that could connect,
So, alone in my head, I reflect.
I was the vessel through which others finally felt safe.
Needed to pass the time from this dark mind,
Always felt out of place.
I learned others so deeply, to avoid looking within.
Don’t get me wrong— I in no way regret learning how to listen,
But it might be worth it to mention,
There comes a time to redirect your attention,
So, to avoid answering the hard questions,
You seek to find yourself in others?
Seeking yourself through others,
Leads you to getting lost.
I did not write down the date on this one in my poetry book— no idea when I wrote it. Hope you guys liked the poem. I always lean towards writing about the human experience, so that it is something anyone reading can maybe relate to in some way, shape or form. If it is not your favorite, I apologize that our perspectives did not align. Namaste 🌻
