The renowned phantom thief, Kaitou Joker, and his apprentice, Hachi Fuuma, traveled to Tropical Land for a heist, where they encounter the high school detective, Shinichi Kudo.
However, during the heist, Joker and Shinichi are captured by members of a criminal organization, who attempt to kill them with an experimental drug. Instead of dying, though, both Joker and Shinichi's bodies end up shrinking into the size of children.
Now, Joker and Shinichi must cooperate to take down the organization and find an antidote that'll return their bodies back to normal - not knowing of the various mysteries, enemies, and rivals that awaited them along the way.
Kaitou Joker and Hachi went to the Tropical Land amusement park to steal the carousel's Silver Unicorn ornament.
However, while waiting for nightfall, they unexpectedly became suspects in a murder investigation, leading them to meet Shinichi Kudo, a high school detective who happened to be there with a childhood friend.
After the murder was solved, Joker managed to steal the Silver Unicorn before he and Hachi split up to avoid getting arrested by the police.
Attempting to recover the stolen treasure, Shinichi pursued Joker to the park's outskirts, where they came upon a strange man dressed in black carrying out a blackmail transaction.
While distracted by the transaction, Joker and Shinichi failed to notice the man's partner until they were both knocked out cold by him.
And when Joker and Shinichi woke up, they were shocked to discover that their bodies had struck to the size of children!

"How the heck did we become children?!" Joker yelled while looking down at his small hands.
"Could this be the result of that drug?" Hachi wondered out loud.
"What drug?" Joker asked
"I overheard those men in black from the coaster saying that they were going to get rid of you with a newly developed drug." Hachiexplained
"I do remember seeing a pill before blacking out..." Shinichi said in thought
"You two were apparently their first human test subjects." Hachi said
"That explains why those guys are nowhere to be seen. If they knew about this side effect, they would've stayed to make sure we died." Joker said
"Hey, have you seen my phone?" Shinichi asked while searching through his pockets.
"It's right there, but..." Hachi said, pointing at the wall behind Shinichi and Joker.
"Hm? AH!!" Joker screamed when he saw both his and Shinichi's cellphones smashed to bits on the ground.
"I suppose they did it to get rid of the video evidence of their blackmailing." Shinichi said
"But you were the one recording, not me!" Joker angrily yelled "Ah-mo! This is all your fault! If you had just stayed behind with your girlfriend, I wouldn't be in this mess!"
"S-she's not my girlfriend, idiot!" Shinichi yelled back, his cheeks flustered "And I only came here to get back the treasure YOU stole!"
"Who are you calling an "idiot"? YOU'RE the idiot since you didn't think to check if his partner was around!"
"You didn't notice him either!"
"Because I was trying to get freed from your death grip!"
"Will you two stop fighting already!!" Hachi yelled "Arguing wouldn't fix your situation!"
"I think I see someone over there!" a male voice suddenly called out.
"It might be Kaitou Joker! Check it out!" another male voice called out.
"Crap! It's the cops!" Joker said as he hurriedly stuffed his cape, gloves, mask, and the broken cellphones into his hat "Let's get out of here before they spot us!"
"Why? The police can help us." Shinichi said
"You seriously think that they'll believe our situation?" Joker asked
"We just have to tell them who we are and explain that we were force-fed a drug that caused our bodies to shrink...." Shinichi's voice trailed off when he realized how ridiculous he sounded "Yeah, let's go..."
"Hey, you! Wait!" a cop yelled when he saw the group run towards the parking lot.
"Is it Joker?" the second cop asked
"No, just some kids, but they were dressed kinda strange...." the first cop said
"They were probably trying to sneak into the park, it happened before." the second cop said "Forget about them and focus on finding Joker."
While the cops continued their fruitless search, Joker, Shinichi, and Hachi ran over to where Road Joker was hidden.
"Where do we go now?" Hachi asked after they all climbed into the car.
"Let's go to my place. My mom kept my old clothes, so we can change into those." Shinichi said
"Alright, and on the way there..." Joker said when his stomach let out a loud growl "Any chance we can get something to eat?"
"Don't be ridiculous! We don't have time for -" Shinichi began yelling when his stomach also let out a loud growl "... I guess a sandwich wouldn't hurt..."

Rain started pouring down as Hachi exited the convenience store, where he bought some tonkatsu sandwiches for Joker and Shinichi to eat. Hachi then drove through the backstreets of Beika City until they arrived at Shinichi's house.
"Nobody seems to be home." Hachi said when he saw the darkened house.
"Yeah, I've been living alone ever since my parents moved to America." Shinichi explained "You can hide your car in the garage, just give me a second to-"
KABOOM!
Shinichi was interrupted by a explosion that destroyed part of the stone gate in front of the house next door. The group watched as an old man climb out of the ruble and roll onto the street. He was wearing a white lab coat over a dark blue long sleeve shirt that was light blue over the collar, blue jean pants, white socks, and blue slippers.
"Professor Agasa!" Shinichi yelled as he got out of the car and ran over to the old man, now known as "Agasa".
"So much for hiding..." Joker thought as he and Hachi chased after Shinichi.
"Hm? Who are you?" Agasa asked when he saw the group.
"It's me! Shinichi!" Shinichi said
"Oh, your relatives of Shinichi?" Agasa said, standing up "Shinichi's house is the next one over."
"No, I'm Shinichi!" Shinichi said "Here, I'll prove it! Your name is Hiroshi Agasa, and your 52! You're an eccentric inventor and claim you're a genius, but everything you make is junk!"
"How is insulting him gonna make him believe you..?" Hachi thought with a sweat drop.
"You also have a mole on your butt that has a hair sticking out of it!" Shinichi finished saying.
"M-my butt... Only Shinichi knows about that!" Agasa said "He's been spreading my secrets around, has he?"
"No! It's because I'm Shinichi! We were forced to take some weird drug which made our bodies shrink!" Shinichi frustratedly yelled, pointing at himself and Joker.
"A drug that shrunk you?" Agasa questioned, in which everyone nodded their heads. But Agasa started getting angry "Hmph! If there is such a drug, I want some proof! I'm taking you strange kids to the police!"
"Wait! I know it sounds impossible, but it's the truth!" Hachi said as Agasa grabbed Shinichi and Joker by their arms and started dragging them down the sidewalk.
"Professor! You just ran back from the Columbo restaurant, right?" Shinichi said, causing Agasa to freeze.
"How do you know that?!" Agasa asked in shock, letting go of Joker and Shinichi.
"Because of you're clothes, Professor. The front of your clothes are still wet, yet the back is completely dry! Proof that you were running from home in the rain." Shinichi explained "Also, there's mub splashed on your pants. The only road you could've gotten muddy from in this area is the construction area in front of Columbo! Plus, some of Columbo's special meat sauce is still on your mustache."
"You are..." Agasa said, his eyes widening in realization.
"Tisk, tisk... Elementary, my dear Agasa!" Shinichi said with an wink and big grin, causing Agasa to finally see him as Shinichi.
"S-Shinichi...." Agasa said in disbelief "Wait, are you really Shinichi?!"
"That's what he's been trying to tell you." Joker said
"But then, who are you two?" Agasa asked, looking over Joker and Hachi curiously.
"I'm Kaitou Joker, the Miracle Maker! You might've heard of me." Joker said proudly
"And I'm Hachi Fuuma, his apprentice." Hachi introduced himself.
"P-phantom thieves?!" Agasa said, more confused than ever.

"I see..." Agasa said after Hachi explained what happened at Tropical Land "The drug that those men in black tested on Shinichi and Joker had a unique effect and made their bodies shrink."
"That's the gist of it." Shinichi said as he and Joker walked into the room after changing out of their baggy clothes.
Shinichi was now wearing a blue blazer with a single yellow button, a pair of bluish gray shorts, a white buttoned up shirt, a pair red and white trainers sneakers, white socks, and a red bowtie.
Meanwhile, Joker kept on the indigo-colored stickers over his scar and was now wearing a plain dark blue short-sleeved t-shirt with orange lining around the collar and sleeves, dark blue jean pants, a red sleeveless zip-up hooded sweat jacket, white socks, and a pair of red, gray, and blue colored sneakers.
"I don't know what's weirder. The fact that I fit perfectly in my old childhood clothes..." Shinichi said while glancing over at Joker "Or that my clothes fit perfectly on you."
Joker just shrugged before looking at Agasa "So, Shinichi mentioned that you're some kind of genius. Any chance you could undo the drug affects?"
"I'm afraid not, since I don't know how the drug was made." Agasa explained
"Could you run a blood test on them?" Hachi asked
"If what those men claimed about the drug being untraceable is true, a test would be pointless." Agasa said
"No biggie! I'll just steal some of that drug for you." Joker said while walking towards the door.
"Hold on a second! Where do you think you're going?" Hachi asked as he stepped in front of the doorway, preventing Joker from leaving.
"Back to Sky Joker to get ready for my next heist, of course!" Joker said "I'll simply use my image gum to look like my normal self when I steal the treasure -"
"ARE YOU AN IDIOT!!!!!?????" Hachi angrily yelled, causing Joker to cover his ears "If you do that, then those men in black will discover that you're still alive and come after us!"
"So? It's not like we haven't fought against an evil organization before." Joker said "Plus it'll make it easier to get ahold of that drug. The professor should be able to make an anecdote with that, right?"
"Well, probably..." Agasa said
"That's not the point! We might be able to protect ourselves, but what about Shinichi? Because they'll realize Shinichi is alive as soon as they learn you're alive." Hachi pointed out "They've already attempted to kill you, so who knows what they'll do in order to finish the job!? They may even target our family and friends in order to get to you two!"
"Hachi is right." Agasa said "Both of you share a common enemy now, so you'll have to work together if you want to regain your original bodies!"
"I hate to admit, but they have a point." Shinichi said
"....*sigh* Oh, alright." Joker said "I'll cooperate, but only until my body is back to normal!"
"Listen, this situation must stay a secret between the four of us." Agasa said "We mustn't tell anyone because doing so will put them in serious danger!"
"But how are we supposed to gather information on the men in black if we can't tell anyone?" Joker asked
"Shinichi, are you there?" a female voice suddenly echoed in the hallway, startling everyone.
"I-it's Ran!" Shinichi said
"You mean the girl that was with you at the park?" Hachi asked, in which Shinichi nodded his head.
"You three need to hide!" Agasa panickedly said when the sound of footsteps started getting closer to the library door.
Joker, Shinichi, and Hachi managed to hide underneath the work desk right before Ran entered the room.
"If you're home, then you could at - huh? Professor Agasa? Where's Shinichi?" Ran asked when she saw the professor.
"W-well, he was here earlier, but he said he had something to do and left..." Agasa lied, trying not to sound nervous.
"Then who were you talking to? Because I heard several voices coming from this room." Ran said as she began looking around the library.
"This isn't good..." Joker thought when he spotted a pair of black framed glasses sitting in the open drawer next to him "There's no way this is gonna work, but..."
Joker quickly removed the lense from the glasses before handing them to Shinichi.
"Put these on, quick!" Joker quietly whispered to Shinichi before popping a piece of image gum in his mouth. While Shinichi put on the glasses, Joker used the image gum to change Hachi's attire.
Hachi was now wearing a yellow plaid unbuttoned shirt with blue and gray stripes over a white short-sleeved t-shirt, gray jean pants, gray and yellow sneakers, and a yellow beanie hat.
"Hm? These kids..." Ran said when she found the three boys, getting down on her knees to get a better look at them. Ran stared at them in silence for a moment before pulling them all into a big hug "They're so cuuuute!♡"
"I can't believe that worked..." Joker thought, letting out a sigh of relief.
"Who are they?" Ran asked Agasa as she let go of the three.
"Oh, er, distant relatives of mine..." Agasa said
"How old are you?" Ran asked thethree of them.
Joker and Shinichi quickly answered "Seven", while Hachi answered "Six".
"So you're first graders?" Ran said while standing up "What's your names?"
"My name is shin - no, I mean..." Shinichi nervously said
"Jack!" Joker suddenly said, surprising everyone "My name is Jack Edogawa! And these are my cousins, Conan Edogawa and his little brother, Allan!"
"Conan and Allan? Those are odd names..." Ran said
"Our parents are big fans of mystery novels." Shinichi, now known as "Conan", said "So they named us after Conan Doyle and Edgar Allan Poe."
"I-it's very nice to meet you." Hachi, now known as "Allan", said with a small bow.
"My~, how polite. I'm Ran Mouri, it's nice to meet you too." Ran said
"Oh, Ran! I have a favor to ask!" Agasa said "Would you mind taking care of these three at your place for a while?"
"Eh?!" Joker, Shinichi, and Hachi said in confusion.
"You see, Conan and Allan's parents are in the hospital because of an accident, so they asked me to look after them." Agasa said "But I live alone, and taking care of three boys at once is a bit much for me."
"Why don't you ask Jack's parents?" Ran asked
"well, um..." Agasa stammered when he realized his mistake.
"My parents died last year." Joker said "I was adopted by my aunt and uncle."
"Oh, I see..." Ran said with an saddened expression on her face before looking back at Agasa "I'm willing to take them in, but I'll have ask my father first."
"Oh, great! Then can you wait outside while we pack a bag for tonight. They can come back tomorrow to pick up the rest of their things." Agasa said
"Sure thing." Ran said as she left the room.
"Are you crazy, Agasa? What if Ran finds out our identities while we're staying with her?!" Shinichi said as soon as Ran closed the library door and then looked at Joker "And why did you play along?!"
"I figured it would be a bad idea for us to get separated." Joker said
"The first step to turning you and Joker back to normal is finding the men in black who used that drug on you two." Agasa explained "And Ran lives in her father's detective agency!"
"So we might come across information on them during her dad's cases." Joker said, understanding Agasa's plan "It's a long shot, but it appears to be our only option at the moment."
"I know it's too late to ask, but are you sure I should be going with you?" Hachi asked
"It'll be safer this way. Those men in black might come looking for you when they find out that our dead bodies never showed up." Joker explained "Plus, you're already small enough to pass off as a little kid!"
"That last part wasn't necessary!" Hachi said with an ikari mark on his forehead "What about my outfit then? You can't expect me to wear image gum for the rest of the night."
"Don't worry, your outfit is made up of clothes I spotted among Shinichi's old clothes." Joker said
"Are you okay with not wearing a disguise, though?" Shinichi asked Joker "You didn't even hide your scar."
"It's fine! There's only a few people in the world who knew me as a kid, and none of them are here in Beika... hopefully..." Joker said
"Oi.. Oi..." Shinichi said with a sweat drop.

Jack, Conan, and Allan packed an overnight bag after Allan had changed into his new attire. By the time they joined Ran outside, the rain had cleared up. After saying goodbye to Agasa, they left for Ran's house. The four of them walked down the sidewalk in silence until Ran spoke up.
"Hey, is there anyone you guys like?" Ran asked "Anyone you're interested in, like at school?"
"Why are you asking children that?" Jack thought before answering "No, there isn't."
"Me either..." Conan said
"I like the Shuffle Sisters, especially Ai-chan!" Allan said
"Oh! I know that group! Their songs are really fun to listen to." Ran said
"How about you, Ran-neechan? Do you like anyone? Say... that Shinichi person you were looking for earlier?" Jack asked with a mischievous grin, earning a glare from Conan.
"Yup!" Ran said with a big smile.
"Huh..." Conan said, surprised by Ran's answer.
"Ever since he was little, he's been a jerk, always full of himself, always a detective nerd..." Ran said "But whenever you need him, he's dependable, brave, and cool. I really love Shinichi! But don't tell him, okay?"
Both Jack and Allan had to cover their mouths to keep from laughing out loud when they saw Conan's whole face turn bright red in embarrassment.
A few minutes later, the group arrived at a small café called "Poirot" on Beika Street. Right above the café was a office with the words "Mouri Detective Agency" painted on the windows and on the floor above it was a associated apartment.
"This is my house. And starting today, it's your guys house too." Ran said "It's almost like I've gained three cute little brothers. I can talk to you guys about anything."
"Ran..." Conan thought sadly "Maybe we should—"
"You better not be thinking about telling her the truth." Jack whispered to Conan.
"N-no I wasn't!" Conan whispered, looking away from Jack.
"You're reaction saids otherwise..." Jack whispered
"What are you two whispering about?" Ran asked
"Ah, we're just talking about how cool it is that you live in a detective agency!" Jack said
"I guess..." Ran said, looking up at the agency sign "My dad doesn't get many cases though. Anyway, let's go inside and I can introduce you to him."
"What about your mom? Isn't she home?" Allan asked
"No, my parents separated when I was kid." Ran explained "But it's only a matter of time until they're back—"
"I got one! I got one! AAAHHH!"
Ran got interrupted when a men suddenly fell down the staircase, landing right on the sidewalk. He was a fairly tall and fit man with high cheekbones, a short mustache, and short black hair. His hair was constantly slicked back with two loose locks hanging across his forehead. And he wore a muted blue suit, a white button-up shirt, black dress shoes, and a red tie.
"Jeez, Dad, you scared me!" Ran said to the man "Where are you going at this time of night?"
"It's a job! My first job in six months!" Ran's father said with excitement as he quickly stood up "Someone kidnapped a rich guy's daughter! A witness said that the kidnapper was a man dressed in black!"
"Man dressed in black?!" Conan, Jack, and Allan thought simultaneously, picturing the same men in black from before.
"C'mon, let's go too!" Conan said
"Huh? Wai—" Ran barely had time to react when Conan grabbed her hand and dragged her to the taxicab that her father had flagged down, with Jack and Allan following after.
"Take me to Yayoi, to the big mansion called "Tani"!! And step on it!!" Ran's father said to the taxi driver as he climbed into the cab. As the taxicab drove onto the highway, Ran's father began laughing to himself "Heh heh heh... This case is calling my name! Calling the great detective known as Kogoro Mouri!"
"Not "great", but more like "confused"."
"WHAAA—?!" Kogoro yelled when he saw his daughter and three little boys sitting next to him, all of them giving him an unimpressed look "Why are you here?!"
"Because they climbed in before I could stop them!" Ran said, looking down at the boys.
"Yippee, a car! Yay!" Conan said in a childish voice.
"C-can't wait to see where we're going!" Allan said, playing along
"And we get to watch real life detective work! Yay!" Jack said
"We sound so pathetic..." Conan, Allan, and Jack thought simultaneously
"And who these kids?!" Kogoro demanded to know.
"They're Professor Agasa's relatives!" Ran explained
"Get off!! You're going to wreck my job!!" Kogoro yelled
"We can't get off!! We're on the highway!!" Ran yelled back
"This gonna be a LONG night..." Jack thought while Ran and Kogoro argued with each other.

LOCATION 》 TANI RESIDENCE (BACKYARD)
"The person kidnapped was my only daughter. Her name is Akiko Tani and she's 10-years-old." the CEO, Mr. Tani, explained while handing Kogoro a picture of his daughter.
Mr. Tani was muscular man with short black hair, thick black eyebrows and mustache, and purple colored eyes. He was wearing a brown/greenish business suit, a tan vest, a white buttoned up shirt, a blue tie, and dark brown dress shoes.
"My butler, Aso, saw it with his own eyes." Mr. Tani continued
"Could you describe the kidnapping?" Conan asked while Allan wrote down the information in a small notebook.
"Huh? Who are these kids?" Mr. Tani asked, looking at Conan in confusion.
"Oh, they're just children of an acquaintance of mine..." Kogoro said before grabbing both Conan and Allan by their collars and handing them to Ran "Ran! Keep an eye on these kids! Wait, where's the third one..?"
"Don't you remember? Jack went straight to the bathroom when we got here." Ran said, setting Conan and Allan down on the ground.
"Oh, right. Anyway, Aso-san..." Kogoro said, turning his attention to the butler "Can you describe the kidnapping in detail?"
Aso was a skinny elderly man with short gray hair, thick gray eyebrows, gray mustache, and blue eyes. He wore the average black butler suit with a white buttoned up shirt, a black bowtie, black dress shoes, and thin black framed round-shaped glasses on his face.
"It occurred when she went to play outside after returning from school." Aso explained "Suddenly, from the corner of the garden, a man in black jumped out and grabbed her. The kidnapper instructed me to tell my master that if he wanted his daughter back, he needed to close his company for a month. And if we involved the police, he'd kill Miss Akiko. The kidnapper then climbed up the pine tree, jumped over the wall and escaped."
"Did you see his face?"
"Huh?" Aso looked down to find Jack, who had returned from the bathroom, standing next to Kogoro "No... my eyes aren't what they used to be, so..."
"What about his voice? Did it sound familiar?" Allan asked, in which Aso shook his head.
"That's too bad..." Conan said
BONK! BONK! BONK!
"OW!!" the three boys yelled out when Kogoro punched their heads.
"You guys shouldn't get in the way of dad's work." Ran said
"Did anyone else hear the kidnappers voice or any sounds out of the ordinary?" Kogoro asked the two maids.
The first maid was an elderly woman with blue eyes, back-long gray hair that was pulled into a loose ponytail, and was wearing a green kimono. The second maid was a young woman with short brown hair, blue eyes, and was wearing a red/pinkish kimono.
"No. Other then Aso-san's shouts for help, it was completely quiet." The elderly maid answered
"Which means Aso-san was the only one who saw the perpetrator." Kogoro said in thought "Judging from the demands, the kidnapper is likely someone from a rival company."
"To think they would want money on top of that demand!" Mr. Tani angrily said
"Money?!" Aso questioned with a mixture of shock and confusion on his face "The kidnapper said he wanted the closure of the company, but he didn't say anything about money..."
"There was a phone call just now!" Mr. Tani explained "They demanded that I prepare 300 million yen, all in used bills!"
"There must be some sort of mistake, sir!" Aso said, worriedly.
"Silence! You will remain quiet!" Mr. Tani angrily yelled
"Hey, I'm pretty sure those men in black aren't involved in this kidnapping." Jack whispered to Conan as they walked away from the group.
"Most likely..." Conan said as he began bouncing a pink ball with his foot "Except for the money, the culprit acted way too carelessly when kidnapping Akiko. It would've been easier to kidnap her on her way home from school than in her own backyard. Something not right about this case."
"About that..."
"AAAHHH!" Jack was interrupted by Allan suddenly screaming, catching everyone's attention.
Everyone ran over to check on Allan, only to find him lying on the ground, laughing, surrounded by three big dogs, one of which was licking his face.
"Are you alright, Allan?" Ran asked
"Yeah, sorry for startling you." Allan said while standing up and brushing the grass off his clothes.
"What happened?" Conan asked
"I was looking at the tree that the kidnapper used to escape when the dogs jumped out of the bushes." Allan explained
"Dogs by the tree..?" Kogoro mumbled, but shrugged it off "Well, I guess any house this big would have a dog or two."
"How rare it is for them to be friendly with a stranger." Mr. Tani said, making Jack raise an eyebrow.
"But if that's true, then why..." Jack thought when his eyes widening in realization.
Jack and Conan glanced at each other, confirming that they both reached the same conclusion. Jack then walked over to one of the dogs, gently petting it's head.
"These dogs must do an amazing job protecting your home." Jack said in a childish tone to Mr. Tani.
"Yes! These are quite superior guard dogs." Mr. Tani said
"Then it's no surprise that they'll bark at anyone they don't know." Conan said, which caught Kogoro's attention.
"Wait... The kidnapper supposedly climbed that tree... But when the maids ran out..." Kogoro thought, recalling Aso and the elderly maid's statements.
"Where are you going, Mr. Butler?" Jack said, causing Aso, who was tiptoeing away from the group, to freeze mid-step.
"Aso-san..." Kogoro said while walking over to Aso "There's something strange about your story! If the kidnapper escaped by climbing that tree, the dogs should have been barking like mad! And after he got away as well!! But when the maids rushed out, they didn't hear any noises but your shouting."
Aso began sweating nervously as his mouth repeatedly open and closed like a fish out of water, struggling to come up with an explanation.
"Plus, your testimony is too full of ambiguity! Was there really a man dressed in black, Aso? No..." Kogoro said before grabbing Aso's shirt and pulling Aso close to his face "Mr. Kidnapper!!!"
"Aso! How dare you!" Mr. Tani angrily yelled, his hands clenching into fists.
"p-PLEASE FORGIVE ME!" Aso cried out as he fell to his knees, bowing his head.
"Why did you do this?! Did someone put you up to it?!" Mr. Tani yelled
"N-no, I did this all by myself..." Aso said
"So, where's the girl now?" Kogoro asked
"In a hotel nearby..." Aso said
Kogoro sternly glared at Aso for a moment before a big silly grin appeared on his face "WOOHOO! CASE CLOSED! With Detective Kogoro Mouri on the job, no case goes unsolved!"
"Sir! There's a phone call!" the elderly maid said as she panickedly ran over to Mr. Tani with the telephone.
"I'm busy. Tell them to call back later!" Mr. Tani said, but when he saw the nervous expression on the maid's face, he decided to take the phone "This is Tani."
"Have you prepared the three million yen yet?" the caller asked
"W-who is this!" Mr. Tani asked, completely shocked.
"I just called you a little while ago, remember? I'm the man who kidnapped your daughter." the caller said
"That's impossible! The kidnapper has already..." Mr. Tani said, looking at Aso.
"So you did have accomplices..." Kogoro angrily whispered
"No, I did do it alone! Please believe me!" Aso whispered back
"I think he's telling the truth, old man!" Jack whispered to Kogoro "Aso would have added the three million yen to the list of demands if he had wanted it. So, his accomplice wouldn't need to call the house."
"But if that's true, then who's on the phone with Mr. Tani?" Ran quietly asked
"Don't tell me... Akiko got kidnapped again by a someone else?!" Kogoro quiet said
"Papa! Help me!"
"Akiko!" Mr. Tani yelled when he heard his daughter's voice on the phone.
"I'm an impatient man." the kidnapper said with a wicked laugh "Hurry and get the three million yen ready, or there's no telling that'll happen to your daughter."
"Please! I'll get the money somehow! Just give Akiko back unharmed!" Mr. Tani begged, falling onto his knees.
"Sir, try to stretch out the conversation and find out where he is." Kogoro whispered to Mr. Tani
"Who's there?! Don't tell me it's the police." the kidnapper said, making everyone panic "If you mess around with them..."
"Papa!" Akiko's voice suddenly cut through the phone, interrupting the kidnapper "I'm in a storeroom of a school! I can see a big chimney from the window—KYAH!"
"Akiko!" Mr. Tani worriedly called out
"I'll call again in one hour. Get the money ready by then!" the kidnapper said before ending the call.
"A big chimney visible from a school storeroom." Kogoro said in thought "Unfortunately, that isn't enough information to pinpoint which school it is..."
"Allan, we need to borrow your phone!" Jack said
"Sure, but do you need it for?" Allan asked
"It hasn't been very long since Akiko was kidnapped, so they might be somewhere nearby..." Conan explained while he and Jack looked over google maps.
"I see—wait! What are doing?!" Allan yelled as he watched Jack and Conan jump onto a security dog and rode them right out the front gate.
"Ran, Allan! Follow them!" Kogoro said as he ran towards the front gate "Mr. Tani, you prepare the money to keep the kidnapper busy!"
"Understood!" Mr. Tani said

"According to this map, there are five schools in the area which you can see a chimney." Jack said as he and Conan rode the dogs down the streets.
"We need to hurry! The kidnapper is probably in a panic now that we know where he could be!" Conan said
"No need to tell me twice!" Jack said
Jack and Conan searched every school one by one, but none of the storerooms had a clear view of a chimney. They finally took a break from running after searching the last school building.
"Dang it! It wasn't any of them!" Conan said in frustration
"There has to be something we missed." Jack said, looking over google maps again "Because there aren't any other schools that have views of chimneys!"
"Hang on, take a look at that!" Conan said, pointing at a tall building.
"You don't think..." Jack said
"There's only one way to find out!" Conan said as he and Jack hopped back on the dogs.
They raced down the road until they reached a spot where they could see the side of the building which was completely black.
"This is it!" Conan said "She saw this building from the side and mistook it for a chimney!"
"Futatsubahi Middle School! That's the only school that has a side view of this building!" Jack said before him and Conan took off towards the school.

"Place the money on the bench in Hyakujii park. Once I have it in my hands, I'll release the girl." the kidnapper said
The kidnapper was a tall skinny man with short black hair and blue eyes. He wore a dark green unzipped jacket over a light blue buttoned up shirt that was tucked into his tan colored pants, a white & green baseball cap, and brown & white sneakers.
"Le me hear Akiko's voice once more!" Mr. Tani begged on the other side of the phone.
"Heh! You'll have plenty of time later to hear it." the kidnapper said before ending the call.
the kidnapper looked over at Akiko, who was tied up with rope and hand duck tape over her mouth. Akiko was currently wearing a fluffy pink sweater over a white buttoned up shirt, a red skirt, pink fluffy socks, red dress shoes, and her hair was pulled up into pigtails with red hair ties.
"We've come to an agreement. Which means your role is just about over with." the kidnapper said with a sinner smile on his face.
Akiko's purple eyes widen with fear as the kidnapper pull out his hunting knife.
"Not so fast!"
"What?!" the kidnapper barely had time to respond when both the security dogs jumped and started attacking him while Jack and Conan ran over to Akiko.
"It's alright now." Conan said, taking the duck tape off of Akiko's mouth.
"Who are you two?" Akiko asked
"I'm Jack Edogawa, and this is Conan." Jack said
"We're detectives." Conan said, which caused Jack to flinch.
"It's so weird being called that..." Jack thought with a sweat drop.
Just then, both dogs let out a whimper before running out the storeroom.
"Don't be mocking me, you little brats!" the kidnapper yelled while swinging a medal baseball bat at Conan and Jack, who managed to jump out of the way.
Conan attempted to kick the kidnapper, only for the kidnapper to grab Conan by his leg and threw him into a pile of soccer balls. Jack then jumped onto the kidnapper's leg and bit down on it.
"Ow!" the kidnapper screamed, pulling Jack off his leg and throwing him into the wall.
"How about this?!" Conan yelled, kicking at soccer ball at the kidnapper, only for him to catch it with ease.
"Crap! We're both weakened because of these small bodies." Jack thought as he stood up "And all my tools are at Shinichi's house! There's got to be a way to beat him!"
Before Jack had the chance to look around the room for ideas, the kidnapper hit Jack right on his stomach with the bat, sending him flying into the jumping boards.
"Jack!" Conan yelled as the kidnapper swung his bat at Jack again.
Jack closed his eyes, bracing for the impact, only for it not to come. When he opened his eyes again, Jack found Ran standing in front of him, blocking the bat with her arms.
"HAAAAAH!!" Ran yelled as she repeatedly punched the kidnapper in the stomach before jumping into the air and kicking him right in the face, sending him flying onto the ground and knocked out cold.
"S-so strong..." Jack thought as his jaw dropped in stock.
"Jack! Are you okay?!" Allan said as he and Conan ran over to Jack while Ran untied the ropes on Akiko.
"Yeah, I'm fine. But how did you guys know to come here?" Jack asked
"We followed you guys here and saw the dogs run out of this room." Allan explained, glancing at the knocked out kidnapper "But I was completely shocked when Ran started beating up that guy."
"Well, Ran is the captain of our school's Karate club." Conan quietly whispered "She's also the Kanto Region karate champion—huh?"
Conan was interrupted when both Jack and Allan placed a hand on his shoulders.
"She's a keeper." Jack and Allan said symmetrically, giving Conan a thumbs up.
"Oh, shut up!" Conan said, his cheeks red.
"Oh, you're the one behind this?" Kogoro said when he came into the room and walked over to the knocked out kidnapper. Kogoro kicked the kidnapper a couple of times before doing a triumph pose "Kidnapping case? Detective Kogoro Mouri is your man! Hahaha!"
Jack,Conan, and Allan just shook their heads while letting out a sigh while Kogoro walked over to Akiko and Ran.
"And you don't have to worry about that butler of yours! He's already awaiting to be arrested by the police." Kogoro said
"What?! no!" Akiko said panickedly "There's no reason to do that!"
"But, he kidnapped you..." Ran said
"No he didn't!" Akiko said, looking down at the ground "It was.. well..."
"Could be that you faked the first kidnapping?" Jack asked
"Huh?! What are you—"
"How did you know?!" Akiko interrupted Kogoro
"EEEHHH!!??" Allan, Kogoro, and Ran yelled out in shock.

The Next Day....
LOCATION 》 KUDO RESIDENCE (SHINICHI'S BEDROOM)
"The girl faked her own kidnapping?" Agasa said, listening to the story of the case that the boys got involved in last night while Conan packed up his childhood clothes into a suitcase.
"Yeah. Apparently the girl's father starting working all the time after his wife died. So she devised the kidnapping scheme, hoping that Mr. Tani would spend time with her once the company closed down." Conan explained before looking at Jack "But when did you figure it out?"
"When I was using their bathroom, I noticed that her hairbrush and toothbrush was missing." Jack said "So I checked her bedroom and discovered that some of her clothes were missing while her laundry basket was completely empty. Though I honestly wasn't completely sure until she confirmed that Aso wasn't the kidnapper."
"Akiko and Aso did get scolded by the father a bit after he found out what happened." Allan said "But then planned a week-long vacation to Australia for himself and Akiko."
"And? Did you convince Kogoro to let you guys live with him and Ran?" Agasa asked
"Yep! He said we might be a good luck charm for him with solving cases." Allan said
"OK, I think that's all of it." Conan said, zipping up his suitcase "What do we do now?"
"Next, we go to our airship where Joker will set up our new cellphones while I send an email to Queen and Spade so they hopefully don't come looking for me and Joker." Allan said before letting out a sigh "Though, I really hate having to lie to them."
"It's for their protection." Jack said "Plus, we're not really lying to them. We are only telling them half the truth; that we're taking a break from stealing to look for a certain "treasure"."
"Oh? You must really care about them." Agasa said
"No, Joker just doesn't want them to make fun of his situation. They'll never let him hear the end of it." Allan said
"Ahem! Anyway..." Jack said, glaring at Allan "After we set up our phones, we need to go clothes shopping for me and Hachi."
"And don't forget about buying school supplies." Allan said, making both Jack and Conan let out an annoyed moan.
"I can't believe we're being made to take elementary school!" Jack said
"For once, I agree with you." Conan said "And what's worse is that it's the same elementary school I attended as a kid!"
"But Joker, will you be able to afford all the stuff you need?" Agasa asked
"Yep! I have plenty of money!" Jack said
"It's not stolen money, right?"Conan asked
"...."
"Jack..."
"...Will you look at the time? We should get going so we're not late for dinner!" Jack said as he bolted out of the bedroom.
"JACK!!!!" Conan yelled as he chased after Jack.

"Hurry up, Shinichi!" Ran said as she ran over to the line leading to the ticket booth.
Ran was currently wearing a dark blue long sleeve turtleneck shirt, the front of the collar was split, revealing the white underneath the shirt's collar. Over her shirt, Ran wore a light blue hooded winter jacket, unzipped, that was orange on the inside while the hood had white fur around the edges. She also had on light blue jean shorts, white ankle socks, and light blue & white sneaker shoes.
"You could slow down a bit, Ran." Shinichi said as he walked over to her.
Shinichi was wearing a yellow long-sleeved shirt with a orange colored collar and a dark blue hood attached to it underneath a green unzipped jacket, light blue jean pants, yellow long socks, and orange & white sneaker shoes.
"I want to hurry and go on the rides before your terrible luck ruins our fun!" Ran said
"Huh?! What is that supposed to mean?!" Shinichi angrily asked
"You know exactly what I mean! Whenever we go out to places like this, a case ALWAYS happens!" Ran said "Remember what happened at the aquarium?"
"Cases don't always happen, idiot!" Shinichi said, earning a glare from Ran.
Just then, the sound of sirens filled the air and a bunch of police cars came racing through the parking lot. After the cars came to a screeching halt at the entrance, Shinichi spotted a short man wearing a green suit step out one of the police cars.
"As soon as we're inside, set up a perimeter around the carousel and begin looking for Joker!" the short man yelled at the police officers.
"Yes, Inspector!" two female officers responded
Shinichi and Ran watched as the Inspector and the large group of uniformed officers ran past them, straight inside the amusement park.
"You see, what did I tell you?" Ran said while crossing her arms.
"T-this doesn't count! We're not inside yet, so it obviously doesn't count!" Shinichi said, making an X sign with his arms "Plus, we don't even know if there's actually a case-"
"Oh! If it isn't Kudo and Ran!" a familiar voice said behind them.
Shinichi and Ran turned around to find Inspector Megure with a couple uniformed officers behind him, walking over to them.
"Fancy seeing you two here." Inspector Megure said
"Inspector, you have terrible timing..." Shinichi quietly mumbled while hanging his head down.
"Hm? Did you say something?" Inspector Megure asked
"Ah, no. It's nothing." Shinichi said
"We were just talking about how cases always follow Shinichi, that all." Ran said, getting an annoyed look from Shinichi, but Ran just stuck her tongue out at him.
"Haha! I can understand that." Inspector Megure said "But there's no need to worry, a case hasn't happened yet."
"Yet?" Shinichi and Ran said symmetrically.
"Yes, an advance notice card was delivered to the police and park this morning." Inspector Megure said while pulling out the card from his coat.
Inspector Megure then handed the card to Shinichi, who examined card for a moment before reading out loud the following;
"Joker? Who's that?" Ran asked
"Kaitou Joker is a wanted phantom thief who has stolen various of treasures from around the world." Inspector Megure explained "Not only is he famously known, but his skills are top notch, being able to to escape the most dangerous situations with his miracles."
"Miracles?" Shinichi questioned
"Yes. There are many reports of Joker using unimaginable tricks that could only be described as "miracles". People have even given Kaitou Joker the nickname, Miracle Maker." Inspector Megure said
"I don't remember hearing anything about this on the news, though." Ran said
"The park requested that the theft not be made public yet." Inspector Megure explained "Mainly because they're worried about losing costumers."
"But Inspector, why are you here? I thought you worked on murder cases." Shinichi said
"I do, but Inspector Nakamori said that he's too busy dealing with his own phantom thief to help Oniyama capture Joker. So he asked the department to have me take his place." Inspector Megure said
"Why did he request you?" Shinichi asked
"I think he's still mad about what happened at the clock tower." Inspector Megure said
"Ah, right. Sorry..." Shinichi said with dotted eyes.
"Speaking of which, would you like to help out? We could really use your skills on this, Kudo." Inspector Megure said
"To be honest, it doesn't sound all that interesting to me." Shinichi said "I am a little curious about his so called "miracles". But he's just a thief, right? Surely you don't need me for that."
"Well, if you say so. I have to go meet with Inspector Oniyama, but if you change your mind, come to the carousel after it gets dark." Inspector Megure said as he headed inside the park.

Meanwhile, inside Tropical Land.
Kaitou Joker and Hachi were hiding inside a fake rock that sat on the performance stage next to the carousel.
"Good evening, everyone. This is Kaitou Joker." Joker said in spooky voice while holding a flashlight up to his face "And I'm here to haaauunt yoouu~!!"
"What do you think you're doing, Joker-san!!?" Hachi yelled, punching Joker in the head "Aren't we hiding in order to steal the treasure? Please quit messing around."
"Ow ow ow. I know that!" Joker said, rubbing where Hachi hit him "But we've been hiding here since last night. I can't help it if I'm bored."
"I guess I can understand that." Hachi said "Can I say one more thing though?"
"What is it?" Joker asked
"Aren't there way too many people here~~!?" Hachi quietly yelled while looking out through a peephole, seeing all the people who were enjoying themselves at the park.
"It's an amusement park, what did you expect?" Joker said before loudly slurping up some of his cup ramen, making Hachi shushed at him.
"Oh?" Joker said while looking out another peephole "Look, Hachi. The scary old man and his posse have arrived."
Hachi looked through the peephole again to see Inspector Oniyama, with a large group of police officers including Ginko and Momo, following behind him. Also following Inspector Oniyama was a man wearing a dark brown jacket and hat, with more officers following behind him. Hachi surmised that the man had to be an inspector as well.
"Have you found Joker yet?" Inspector Oniyama asked the officers who were standing in front of the carousel.
"No, sir! There's been absolutely no trace of him anywhere!" one of the officers reported
"YOU FOOOOOOLS!!" Inspector Oniyama yelled out loud, scaring the officers "Search for him as if your lives depended on it!!"
"Now, now, Oniyama. Please don't make a scene." the other inspector said
"It's not my fault, Megure." Inspector Oniyama said before pointing up at the Silver Unicorn ornament that sat on top of the carousel "It's because the amusement park spent such an extravagant amount of money on the carousel's ornament that they have a phantom thief plotting to steal it!"
"But Joker isn't coming till tonight, right? Can he really be here already?" Inspector Megure asked
"There's no doubt about it!" Inspector Oniyama said "Joker is definitely hiding somewhere, watching our every move, and most likely..."
"Most likely?" Inspector Oniyama repeated
"Happily stuffing his face with food while deciding which amusement ride he wants to go on first." Inspector Oniyama said, deadpan.
".......huh?" Inspector Megure confusingly said with dotted eyes.
"Probably so." Ginko said
"It wouldn't be a surprise." Momo said
"Seriously...?" Inspector Megure asked
"Seriously." Oniyama, Ginko, and Momo answered simultaneously
"Hey, Hachi!" Joker said after finishing his cup ramen. Joker held up a map of Tropical Land with a big grin on his face "Let's go on some of the rides! Which one do you think we should do first?"
"They definitely weren't wrong." Hachi thought with a sweat drop before asking "But isn't it a bit risky to be moving around?"
"We'll be fine as long as we disguise ourselves." Joker said while pulling out some image gum "And the police will be too busy keeping an eye on the treasure to search the entire park for us. There's plenty of time before the heist, so we might as well have some fun!"
"The ice area does look like fun..." Hachi said in thought while looking over the map "Sure, why not!"
"Great! Let's hurry and get changed then." Joker said
Joker and Hachi blew up their image gum, that surrounded their bodies and transformed them into the following disguises: Joker no longer had his mask and scar, his eyes were hidden behind a pair of fake round glasses, and his icy blue-white hair changed into short hazel brown hair. His outfit consisted of dark blue jean pants, a yellow turtleneck shirt, an unzipped purple hooded winter jacket, and purple tennis shoes. For Hachi's disguise, he also wore a pair of fake round glasses while his haircolor changed to dark orange. His outfit now consisted of a light blue & white baseball cap he wore backwards on his head, blue denim pants, blue & white tennis shoes, and a zipped-up teal blue winter jacket.
Joker opened up a trap door that was on the floor, and the two of them climbed underneath the stage then hurried out the back stage door into the busy crowd. After they got some distance from the police, Hachi took the opportunity to look around the park.
"Listen up, men!" Inspector Oniyama yelled, catching Hachi and Joker's attention "No matter what happens, you don't take your eyes off the treasure!"
"Ready, and... HAH~!" Inspector Oniyama and the rest of the officers, with the exception of Inspector Megure, Ginko, and Momo, were glaring at the Silver Unicorn ornament so intently that Hachi thought their eyes might pop out.
"Mama! Look at the weird old men!" a little boy said while giggling.
"Don't look at them!" the kid's mother said, pulling her son away from the carousel.
"They're really into it this time, huh." Joker said before heading over to the popcorn stand "Let's go get some popcorn, then we can go on the ferris wheel!"
"But you just had ramen!" Hachi said

TIME SKIP.....
"That was fun!" Hachi said as he and Joker walked away from the bumper cars "What should we do now?"
"Hmm... We just re-did our disguises, so I think we have time to go on a couple of more rides and eat dinner before our image gum wears out." Joker said while looking down at his watch. Joker then pointed towards a roller coaster ride that caught his eye "Let's do that one next!"
"I think I'll pass on that one." Hachi nervously said
"Why? I thought you liked mysteries?" Joker questioned
"I like mystery novels, there's a difference." Hachi said "You don't have to worry about something jumping out at you in a book."
"You'll be fine!" Joker said "Besides, it's just a roller coaster. What's the worst that can happen?"
"Well... Alright, I guess one ride won't hurt." Hachi said before the two of them walked over to the line leading to the coaster.
Also in line was a young couple that stood in front of Joker and Hachi, a girl with light brown hair wearing red headband, a red dress with a black fur coat, thin black tights, brownish/red boots, and was holding a brown handbag. Standing next to her was a man with black hair wearing a pink button-up shirt with a light gray suit jacket, dark gray pants, and black shoes.
In front of the couple was two teenagers, a girl with long bown hair and a boy with black hair. And lastly in front of the teenagers were two women, one with long bown hair wearing light blue headband, a dark blue turtleneck dress with a light blue sweater over it, a pearl necklace around her dress collar, light brown shoes with light blue socks, and had a light brown purse hanging on her shoulder. The other woman had short dark brown hair, round-shaped glasses on her freckled face, a brown turtleneck, tan pants, light brown shoes, and had a black backpack.
Joker's attention was drawn onto the two teenagers, mainly because the boy was happily talking non-stop about Sherlock Holmes.
"The coolest thing about Holmes is when he first met his assistant Watson, he could tell he went to Afghanistan as a military doctor just by shaking his hand!" the teenage boy said before he took ahold of the woman in the blue dress hand "Like this!"
"Huh?" the woman in the blue dress said, surprised by the sudden action.
"You're in a gymnastics club, aren't you?" the teenage boy asked
"H-how did you know?!" the woman in the blue dress said in shock.
"Do you know him, Hitomi?" the woman with glasses asked
"I don't think so, Reiko..." Hitomi said
The teenage girl looked between the boy and Hitomi in confusion.
"It was the blisters on her hands." the teenage boy explained "Only girls who train on the horizontal bar ever get this many of them."
"But you can get blisters doing tennis too..." the teenage girl said
"Actually, I saw earlier when the wind blew her skirt up! Only those with experience on the horizontal bar gets marks like that on their thighs!" the teenage boy said, making Hitomi blush.
"You're so full of yourself.... You knew that even before you shook her hand, you cheater!!" the teenage girl said "How long are you going to keep holding her hand?"
"Huh?" The teenage boy looked down, noticing he was still holding hands with Hitomi, and quickly let go "Oh, right!"
"Hey, you!" the man in the pink shirt yelled at the teenage boy "Quit bothering my pals!"
"A friend of yours? In that case, why don't we switch places in line?" the teenage boy asked Hitomi.
"No, that's ok!" Hitomi said
"Plus, it'd be impolite to disturb Aiko and Kishida-kun!" Reiko explained
The teenage boy looked back at the said couple to see them share a small passionate kiss. As Joker let out a quiet laugh at the scene he just witnessed, he noticed Hachi was deep in thought while looking at the teenage boy.
"What's up, Hachi?" Joker asked "Do you know him?"
"No, but I feel like I've seen him somewhere before. I don't remember where, though..." Hachi said
"Hm.... Oh! It's our turn on the coaster!" Joker said "Let's go."
Joker and Hachi followed the group in front of them over to the coaster. The group then sat down in the coaster in the following order from front to back: Hitomi & Reiko, the two teenagers, Kishida & Aiko, and lastly Joker & Hachi.
"Out of the way! We're first!" a voice suddenly yelled out after an employee helped Joker and Hachi put on their safety guards.
Joker looked over towards the yelling to see a man holding a briefcase, rudely pushing his way past the line. This man was muscular with a wide chin, and wore a black suit, a dark red button up shirt, a black tie, black fedora, black sunglasses, and black dress shoes.
Following behind him was a a tall man with a slim build, pale skin, green eyes and long silver hair that went down to his hip. He also wore a black fedora, along with a black trench coat with its collar upturned to obscure a part of his face, a loose green turtleneck, black trousers, and black dress shoes.
Joker watched as The two men in black sat down in the cart behind him and Hachi. Joker quickly looked away though, when the silver hair man glanced his way. Joker couldn't help but feel, no, he knew that something off about those two men.
"Now departing!!" a park employee said as the coaster began moving forward.
The coaster rode up the starting ramp, giving the riders a clear view of Tropical Land.
"Wow! You can see the whole amusement park from here!" Hachi said in amazement "Look! You can see the performance stage and the carousel!"
"Oh! And there's the ice rink, where you kept falling on your butt!" Joker said
"Will you let that go already?!" Hachi yelled
"Hahaha! Sorry, sorry!" Joker said
When the coaster reached the top of the starting ramp, it plummeted down the ramp at high speed. Most of the passengers' screams echoed as they entered a long dark tunnel, where different types of monsters popped out.
But right before they were about to exit the tunnel, a loud painful scream filled the tunnel.
"GYAAAAH!"
"What?!"
"What happened?!"
"I can't see anything, it's too dark!!"
When they emerged from the tunnel, they discovered Kishida had been completely beheaded, and his blood was gushing out into the air. Hachi and the girls began screaming in terror as the coaster rode up to the loading platform. The people on the platform also began screaming as soon as they saw the decapitated Kishida.
"Hachi! Go to the carousel and bring one of the inspectors here!" Joker said as everyone hurried out the coaster.
"Yes!" Hachi said before running out of the platform as Kishida's body on pulled out of the coaster by an park employee and put on the ground.
"H-how could this happen to Kishida-kun...?!" Aiko said as she fell on her knees, crying.
"How awful..." Reiko said as her and Hitomi also began crying.
"Huh? It's gone?" Joker though as he look at the other passengers then back at the coaster "Did it fall off during the ride? No, they would said something. Unless... this wasn't an accident!"
"Hmph... Unlucky schmuck..." the silver-haired man said as he and the muscular man began walking away from the coaster.
"Wait! This wasn't an accident! It's a murder!" the teenage boy yelled, making the men in black stop walking "And the killer rode on the roller coaster with the victim... One of us nine!"
"S-Shinichi..." the teenage girl said nervously as she hid behind the teenage boy.
"Psh... ridiculous, we're out of here!" the muscular man said
"I brought the police!" Hachi yelled out as he ran back over to the coaster.
"Out of the way, move it! This is the police!" Inspector Megure yelled as he and a few uniformed officers pushed through the crowd of people.
"Aw, shoot..." the muscular man mumbled in frustration.
"W-why are the police here already?" Hitomi wondered
"Didn't you hear about it in the news?" Hachi asked "A phantom thief announced that he'll be stealing the Silver Unicorn that's on top of the carousel tonight."
"No, I didn't know that..." Hitomi said as Inspector Megure got past the crowd.
"Oh! Looks like you end up involved in a case anyway, Kudo!" Inspector Megure said when he spotted Shinichi.
"What?! Kudo!?" the muscular man yelled in shock.
"Oh! I remember now!" Hachi said, pointing atShinichi "That person is the famous high school detective, Shinichi Kudo!"
Everyone else in the room looked at Shinichi in shock as the crowd of people began yelling out in excitement.
"Wow!! So that's the famous detective?!"
"The one they say solves all those unbelievable tricky cases..."
"The savor of the Japanese police!!"
"C'mere, c'mere!! It's Kudo-kun! ♡"
"I gotta see this!"
"Aw, great... Another high school detective. As if Hayami wasn't bad enough." Joker thought to himself before asking Hachi "How do you know about him anyway?"
"He's the son of the famous mystery novelist, Yusaku Kudo." Hachi explained "I've read all his Night Baron books! Mr.Yusaku also used to help the Japanese police solve difficult cases. But since last year, Shinichi-san has been the one solving cases."
"Hm..." Joker said as Shinichi began explaining the situation to Inspector Megure.
"But, did I hear him right? Was this really a murder?" Hachi asked
"Yeah, by the looks of it." Joker answered before whispering while looking at the other suspects "And the murderer is most likely..."
"Eh?! You know who the killer is?!" Hachi whispered, being careful not to yell.
"I think so, but the evidence to prove my theory is gone." Joker whispered back "So all we can do now is wait for the police to find it, or for that detective to figure out the culprit's trick."
A short while later, Shinichi and Inspector Megure were bending down onto the ground, looking over a drawing of the coaster's layout.
"Let me see if I have this right, Kudo..." Inspector Megure said "There are no signs of an accident or mechanical failure on the roller coaster itself. From the circumstances, suicide is unlikely..."
"Correct, inspector! This is clearly a murder." Shinichi said
"If we exclude you and Ran, we have seven suspects!" Inspector Megure said "In the first car, we have the victim's friends Reiko and Hitomi. Riding in the third car with the victim was the victim's friend and girlfriend, Aiko. In the car behind the victim was Hachi and his friend. And finally riding in the last car were the two men in black. But everyone had their safety guards on, so only the woman sitting next to him could have committed the murder!"
"Hey, can you hurry it up? We haven't got the time to play detective games with you!" the silver-haired man said, giving Shinichi an icy stare.
"Creepy! Talk about looks that could kill!" Joker thought as a shiver run down his spine.
"Inspector! There's a knife in this woman's purse!" a police officer said while holding open Aiko's purse, revealing a bloody knife with a piece of fabric wrapped around the blade.
"No way! I've never seen that before in my life!" Aiko yelled in disbelief.
"A-Aiko... How could you do such a thing...?" Hitomi said
"N-no!! It wasn't me!!!" Aiko cried, with tears flowing down her cheeks.
"I thought you said you two were getting along well..." Hitomi said "Why...?"
"It's obviously the girl did it! We'll be leaving now." the silver-haired man said
"Alright! Take her into custody as-"
"Are you all idiots or something?" Joker interrupted Inspector Megure, causing everyone to look at him "It's plainly obvious that she isn't the culprit."
"Huh? How so?" Inspector Megure asked
"Well first off, there's no way that a knife like that could cut off a person's whole head. And even if it somehow could, wouldn't there be signs of a struggle on the body? Furthermore, we would've heard the victim cry out for help." Joker pointed out
"He does have a point..." Ran said "I can't imagine anyone would just sit there and let someone cut off their head."
"Plus, if she was the murderer, why didn't she get rid of the knife after killing him? Even an idiot would know that the police would search our belongings. And if she held the knife with the towel, she wouldn't have to be worried about fingerprints." Joker continued
"Then, how did the knife get into Aiko's bag?" Reiko wondered
"The real killer put in there." Shinichi said
"But who is the killer?" Inspector Megure asked as he glanced at the remaining suspects.
"The one responsible is... you!" Shinichi said, pointing his finger right at Hitomi.
"W-what?!" Hitomi said in shock.
"But, how is that possible? She was in the front row of the coaster when he was killed!" Hachi said
"It's entirely possible if she utilized the coaster's speed in conjunction with a bit of piano wire or rope." Shinichi said before glancing over at the uniformed officers "May I have your assistance for a moment, officers?"
A minute later, Shinichi, Inspector Megure, and a few uniformed officers sat down in the coaster, with Shinichi sitting in Hitomi's spot and Inspector Megure in Kishida's spot.
"Look, everyone! Pretend that I'm the murderer, and Inspector Megure then victim. First, before pulling the safety guard down, I put a purse-like object behind my back. Then the safety guard comes down and..." Shinichi said while clicking the safety guard in place. Once the bar was fastened, he then slipped out of his seat "See? With the extra space, it's easy to slip out. Next, I take out a pre-prepared rope with a hook at the end. Then I put my legs around the guard, stretch back, and place the rope loop round the victim's neck. All while inside a pitch-black tunnel, of course."
Shinichi demonstrated this trick by stretching over the officers and looping the rope around Inspector Megure's neck, who gazed down at it nervously.
"Then I attach the hook to the rail. After this, the coaster's speed and power will take the head right off." Shinichi finished explaining
"A gymnast with a trained sense of balance would definitely be able to pull of this trick." Joker said
"This is crazy! What proof do you have?" Hitomi demanded to know.
"Let me ask you, the pearl necklace you were wearing before the ride... Just where is it now?!"Shinichi asked
Hitomi gasped as she placed her hand on her neck, where her necklace had once been, but was now missing.
"You most likely exchanged the necklace string for piano wire and kept the hook hidden in your bag." Shinichi said "You're tears served as another clue. You knew beforehand that the victim was going to die. The trails of tears that go horizontally across your face... The only way your tears could have flowed horizontally was if you were crying while on the coaster."
"H-he..." Hitomi mumbled as tears ran down her cheeks before falling on her knees and cried out "HE WAS AWFUL, EVERYONE!! HE DUMPED ME!!"
"H-Hitomi... You mean you went out with Kishida-kun..?" Reiko asked, looking at her friend in total shock.
"YES!! WE WERE IN LOVE A LONG TIME BEFORE I MET YOU IN COLLEGE!!" Hitomi yelled before glaring at Aiko "And then he dumped me for a woman like Aiko... So, so... At the place where we went on our first date... With the necklace he gave me... Framing Aiko for it... I WANTED TO KILL HIM!!!"
Everyone watched as Hitomi was arrested and a couple of uniformed officers led her out of the coaster's platform.
"Just in the nick of time..." Joker thought as he looked at the time on his watch "It's about time for the heist..."
"JOKER!!!!!!"
"EEHHH???!!!" Joker and Hachi yelled out in shock when they were suddenly surrounded by Inspector Oniyama, Ginko, Momo, and a bunch of uniformed officers.
"You're SO under arrest!" Inspector Oniyama said with a big grin on his face.
"As much as I appreciate your help with the case, I'm afraid this is as far as you go." Shinichi said
"Shinichi! What's going on?" Ran asked, both confused and shocked by the sudden scene.
"It struck me as a little odd that these two were aware that police inspectors were already present in the park and at the carousel." Shinichi said "But when I heard what Hachi said to Hitomi that I figured it out."
"F-figured out what?" Hachi nervously asked
"A phantom thief did, in fact, send the park an advance notice this morning, but the park asked that it not be publicized! You couldn't possibly have heard about it on the news!" Shinichi explained "So the only way you two could've known about it..."
"Is if we were the ones who send the notice, right?" Joker interrupted while clapping slowly "Impressive, Detective."
"Then, you really are..." Inspector Megure said
"Fufufu... I'm the phantom thief known as the Miracle Maker..." Joker said right as his and Hachi's bodies puffed up and burst apart with a pop!, changing them back to their original attire "Kaitou Joker!"
Upon seeing Joker, the entire crowd of onlookers erupted with excitement.
"I can't believe it! It's Kaitou Joker!"
"The savor of the Japanese police and the Miracle Maker in the same room! Awesome!"
"Somebody pinch me, I must be dreaming~ OUCH! I didn't mean that literally!"
"It sounds like they're more thrilled to see me than you, Detective." Joker said as the crowd started cheering his name.
"It doesn't matter." Shinichi said "Since these will be the last cheers you'll ever hear before going to jail."
"You'll need to catch me first!" Joker said with a smirk before pulling out his playing cards and yelled "Straight Flash!"
Everyone was forced to closed their eyes as the cards bright light filled the room. When they were able open their eyes, both Joker and Hachi had disappeared.
"Ginko, Momo! Stay here with Inspector Megure in case Joker is hiding in the crowd! The rest of you, hurry back to the carousel!" Inspector Oniyama yelled as he and most of the uniformed officers ran out of the coaster's platform.
"Hey, Ran. Do you still have the Tropical Land map you were given at the entrance gate?" Shinichi asked, which Ran answered by nodded her head "Can I borrow it?"
"Sure..." Ran said, handing Shinichi the map.
"You go on ahead home! I'll catch up with you later!" Shinichi said as he ran towards the platform exit.
"Wait!" Ran started to chase after Shinichi, but she stumbled when one of her shoelaces suddenly broke. Fortunately, Officer Ginko caught Ran before she could fall to the ground.
"Are you alright?" Ginko asked
"I'm fine, thanks. But Shinichi..."
However, when Ran looked back up, she found that her friend was already long gone.

By the time Inspector Oniyama and the officers returned to the carousel, it was already nighttime.
"Good, we beat Joker here!" Inspector Oniyama said when he saw that the Silver Unicorn ornament was still on top of the carousel "Get ready, men! Joker could appear anywhere!"
"Inspector! Look!" an officer yelled, pointing up in the air.
"Hm? UWAAAAAAA!!" Inspector Oniyama yelled out when he saw one of the park's huge advertisement balloons falling towards them.
With little time to move out of the way, Oniyama and the cops were crushed by the balloon.
"W-why is balloon so heavy?!" Inspector Oniyama yelled, snuggling to get out from underneath the balloon.
"I packed this balloon with special heavy gas! Making lifting something that big impossible!"
"KAITOU JOKER!" Inspector Oniyama yelled when he saw Joker and Hachi standing on top of the carousel.
"Wahahahaha! As promised, I've taken the Silver Unicorn!" Joker said, holding up the Silver Unicorn ornament, as he and Hachi hopped off the carousel and fled the scene "Welcome to the shining night!"
"Guuuh-! Why you-!" Inspector Oniyama frustratedly yelled while banging his fist on the ground "SOMEBODY! ARREST THEM!!!"
A few minutes later, Joker and Hachi hid themselves in an empty bathroom that was closed for maintenance.
"You remember the plan, Hachi?" Joker asked as he handed Hachi the Silver Unicorn ornament.
"While you distract the police with a fake treasure, I'll use the image gum to disguise both the real treasure and myself and leave the park." Hachi said "I'll then come get you with Road Joker once you're at the meet-up spot."
"Right! So don't get caught! You still need to make my victory curry!" Joker said while making the fake Silver Unicorn with image gum.
"You be careful too, Joker-san." Hachi said as Joker exited the bathroom.

TIME SKIP.....
LOCATION 》 TROPICAL LAND OUTSKIRTS
"Fhew... I finally lost them. Those cops are getting faster with every heist." Joker thought as he stopped running to catch his breath "Better call Hachi while I have the chance."
But right before Joker hit the call button on his watch, a familiar voice caught his attention.
"Sorry for the wait, company president."
Joker curiously peaked around the corner to see the muscular man from coaster talking to a nervous bald-headed man in a reddish suit, clutching onto a metal suitcase.
"You're late! I've been waiting for two hours!" the CEO said "T-those police officers in the park aren't with me! I promise!"
"Don't worry, I know." the muscular man reassured the CEO.
"Then, hurry and give it to me!" the CEO said
"Don't get ahead of yourself! The money comes first." the muscular man said
"Here! No problem, right?" the CEO said while opening the suitcase, revealing it was completely filled with money.
"Blackmail, huh..." Joker mumbled
"That's certainly a lot of money. There's gonna be at least 100 million yen there."
"Yeah... EH-MYH!?" Joker got startled when Shinichi suddenly appeared right next to him, who covered Joker's mouth with his hand.
"Ssshhh! Be quite!" Shinichi whispered while using his free hand to videotape the transaction with his phone.
However, while Joker was attempting to break free from Shinichi's grip and Shinichi was preoccupied with the transaction, they failed to notice the silver-haired man sneaking up behind them until he struck both of them in the head with a metal pipe. Joker's thumb ended up pressing the call button on his phone as he fell onto the grassy ground and blacked out.

LOCATION 》TROPICAL LAND PARKING LOT
"I wonder whats taking Joker-san so long..." Hachi wondered out loud as he sat in Road Joker, which was hidden behind some trees and bushes, with the Silver Unicorn ornament sitting next to him.
Hachi's cellphone suddenly started ringing. He pulled his phone from out his pocket and saw that Joker was calling him.
"There he is..." Hachi said before answering the call "Hel-"
"You need to learn to watch your surroundings better!"
When Hachi heard somebody other than Joker on the other end of the line, he immediately covered his mouth with his hand.
"What are these two doing here?!" another voice spoke up on the line.
"It appears that this thief was fleeing with the treasure, with this punk kid chasing him, when they came upon your transaction." the first voice said
"I recognize these voices! They belong to those men that were sitting behind me and Joker on the coaster." Hachi thought to himself as he continued to listen to the call.
"Should I take care them?" the muscular man asked, followed by the sound of a gun clicking.
"No. The place is still crawling with cops." the silver-haired man said "We'll use this. Our organization's latest poison. It won't even show up in autopsies. It hasn't been tested on humans yet, but let's consider this a trial run."
"Oh, no! I have find Joker-san, QUICK!" Hachi panickedly thought as he hung up the call, jumped out of Road Joker, and hurried to the meet-up spot.

"Ow... my head hurts..." Joker thought as he slowly opened his eyes, his vision blurry "What happened... I remember drinking something... then my body felt like it was burning..."
"Joker-san...?"
"That voice... Hachi..?"
When Joker's vision cleared, he found Hachi looking down at him with a confused and concerned expression on his face.
"You have no idea how happy I am to see your face right now, Hachi..." Joker said
"A-are you REALLY Joker-san?" Hachi asked
"What are you talking about? Of course it's me!" Joker said while sitting up "By the way, where did that annoy detective go?"
"Who are you calling annoy?"
Joker looked in the direction of the voice and found a small boy, dressed in oversized clothes, sitting on the ground next to him.
"Those clothes... could you be Shinichi Kudo?!" Hachi asked in shock.
"Yeah..." the small Shinichi said before glancing over at Joker "And are you... Kaitou Joker? What happened to you?"
"What do mean "What happened to me"? What happened to YOU?" Joker asked, earning an confused look from Shinichi.
"I think you both better take a look at yourselves." Hachi said as he took out his cellphone and turned on the camera's selfie mode.
When Hachi held his cellphone up to them, Joker's mouth dropped open in shock. Because staring back at him on the digital screen was a child version of himself, wearing an oversized version of his phantom thief attire.

Shinichi and Joker looked at each other, then at their own clothes, and then back at the phone screen before their faces turned white with fear and screaming "WE SHRUNK~???!!!!"
