to this day it amazes me that the Collarbone Sprites exist. they have like. 3 lines total. and YET nankidai just. made two whole-ass sprites like this. well sure they have just different facial expressions so its more like 1.1 sprites of work but. GOD THEY EXIST. it probably would have easier to make a nonpanicked version of that "open arms" sprite series but we got this instead. im not complaining just. god the work for something that appears for 3 lines?

tbh i would have a great giggle if the COLLARBONE SPRITES came back AND WERE IMPORTANT. can you imagine. there's a serious discussion and suddenly BAM collarbones. i'd die on spot. theres not a single instance where id survive that hit, for real. i dont know what i want more, for those sprites to be a one-off fanservice moment (the hilarity of making two sprites for 3 lines of text) or for them to come back in an important moment (the hilarity of such dumb sprites being crucial). for real.

A Serious Analysis of the Collarbone Sprites (& other Shin sprites)

Absolutely delighted that you asked me about this, Anon. Very important topic for Shin fans. Ah yes, those sexy collarbone sprites. I know that you just wanted to share a good laugh with me, but…I think these sprites are important to the plot! I think it is important he’s wearing that handsome smirk! And I’m not at all surprised that Nankidai drew a unique pose for this important scene!

I touched on this topic before; those sprites are super important because it’s the first time we get a full look at Shin’s key necklace!

I really believe that the necklace is what Shin used to unlock his collar. That’s what the imagery strongly suggests. We first see the key necklace when Keiji asks Shin if he even has a collar, and Shin reveals that he does, but he shows that key necklace at the same time… The irony that Shin could still unlock the collar is delicious.

But you didn’t ask about the key necklace; you’re here to talk about the sex appeal! So let’s talk about that. Or, more specifically, let’s talk about the symbolism behind Shin hiding and showing his neck to us, since that scarf functions as the mask for his “Sou” persona.

The fact that Shin covers himself up in winter clothes ties in nicely with the fact that he is someone who wants to cover up his “true self.” This is especially true of his scarf, which belonged to Original Sou. It’s no coincidence that Shin’s most frightening sprites are when his scarf covers up half his face, leaving us only a glimpse of his wicked eyes.

In contrast, my favorite sprites are the “arms open” sprites you mentioned.

Nankidai uses the “arms open” sprites for Shin beginning in 2-2, post-collar reveal. He uses these sprites to show Shin being more emotionally vulnerable. Shin wears his “arms open” when he is at his most desperate, when he is feeling protective of Kanna, and when he is begging Miss Sara for her help. His fear and anger and heartbreak are on full display for the world to see, along with the glimpse of his neck behind the scarf. To me, these sprites feel like Shin being Shin. He’s being himself and not hiding anything. That’s why I love them so much.

But back to the collarbone sprites. Besides showing off his collar and necklace, I think it’s important that Shin looks confident for this reveal, because he’s coming from a place of strength! Shin is used to coming from a place of weakness. But in this scene, when Shin shows off his collarbone, he just accomplished three things that make him feel strong:

He successfully won the laptop for himself.

He made Keiji look like a fool in front of Miss Sara.

He just delivered Kugie’s smartphone to Kanna with the changed message! In Shin’s mind, he just thwarted Miss Sara’s Evil Plans to break Kanna’s heart, and instead gave his girl a reason to live. He must feel pretty good about that!

Because Shin feels so strong in this moment, he’s confident enough to show off some skin, even though it’s a “vulnerable” look for him. Because he’s that self-assured that Miss Sara and Keiji can’t hurt him right now. He can flaunt a little sexy pose for his enemies, as a treat.

I don’t expect to see the collarbone sprites again, since they feel so specific for this reveal. However, I suppose if Shin wanted to teach us something about the collars or his key necklace, it would be a fun callback for Nankidai to make Shin pose like that again. And then…we all die on the spot together, haha.

I wanted to end this by saying that I love the irony that Shin doesn’t have…you know…a “hot bod.”

But you know what he does have? A fun personality!

So he can flaunt off his neck and pull it off with such flair that he still feels sexy to everyone.

Love that for my man.

Okay, I'm done with finals now so at long last:

The Shower Method

(This is not my method; I found it on as a tiktok reposted on insta and revised it a little.)

The Shower Method is an awake shifting method.

Get in the shower, and close the shower curtain tightly. As you shower, imagine your ORself 'washing away' and being replaced with your DRself. You can have subliminals on if you're comfortable with having your phone in the bathroom while you shower.

Now that you are your DRself, think about your OR going down the drain as well; with each drop of water it fades further and further from you.

Here can also think about the new water being from your DR; is it a different color? What type of showers do they use? Are you in your home, gym class, the locker room?

When you're ready, turn off the water and open the curtain to find yourself in your DR.

The reason I use this method is because this is also how I ground and meditate already! You can practice and get comfortable with this by imagining the water washing away the stresses of the way and sending them down the drain.

This can also be adjusted for taking a bath! If taking a bath, as you drain the tub, think of it pulling your OR in with it, leaving your DR behind (if you like bath bombs and don't mind sparkles/glitter, you could use one of those and each piece could be an aspect of your DR.) When you get out of the bath, you will be in your DR. I recommend closing the curtain for this one as well.

Again, think about where in your DR you want to get out. Maybe you're swimming with your friends, or in a hot tub, or bathing at home.
