"Prosecutor Miles Edgeworth chooses death"
in Apollo Justice case 2 when ema skye says “oh I thought you were one of [klavier gavin’s] boys”
And Apollo is like uhh?? No???

beanie phoenix is so important to me as a character. like he starts out as this spunky defense attorney who explicitly gets into the profession to save a friend, then ends up solving the murder of his mentor and a whole bunch of other horrible stuff, but through it all he remains at his core the same: hopeful, candid, earnest.
then 7yg happens. and the phoenix we meet isn't just aesthetically different, he's different in almost every way. he's a little bit of a crashout, but underneath that is also a thoroughly intense and conniving person - he's *had* to be, to protect Trucy and provide for both of them *and* subtly go to war against the man who framed him seven years ago. he doesn't hesitate to both a) fabricate evidence and b) manipulate apollo into using it in his first trial ever. on the one hand he's still a man of principle because he doesn't just accept defeat and move on - on the other hand he abandons every standard of honor and honesty that used to hold meaning for him, commits the same manipulations that he begged edgeworth to stop so many years prior.
just. ugh. the concept of doing the right thing so goddamn hard you become exactly what you used to fight against. because there's no other choice. because someone has to.
chill bro he's not going anywhere (this time)
turnabout sisters is so insane in hindsight. you are miles edgeworth. mia fey, the first defense attorney you ever went against, has been murdered and you are prosecuting her little sister for the crime. not only are you intrinsically tied to her because of the circumstances surrounding your father’s death but you both watched a man kill himself your first time in court. you think this case could not be more emotionally charged. then you walk into court the day of the trial and who do you see on the defense? your fucking childhood best friend who you haven’t seen in 15 years.
One of the best genre of Ace Attorney Posts is definitely "Oh..... I thought people shipped the Blue One and the Red One just cause they were the two main guy characters in the franchise.... turns out they really are just..... Like That"
contemplating writing a fuck-off long fanfic mashing up a couple cases and exploring how fucked the justice system in Ace Attorney really is. narumitsu of course
well approx 3.8k words have flowed out of me in less than two days on this so i guess i'm writing this. watch this damn space everybody
ive talked about "childhood friends gone wrong" on here before right
there's probably already a name for this but it's a trope i coined for a very specific type of dynamic that im consistently obsessed with. give me two people who grew up together and played together and were each other's best friend and then Something Happened and now everything's fucked up but they're still friends. or they want to be at least. you look so different now and everything is so much more complicated now than when we played in your backyard but literally who else knows me better than you. who else could i ever call my best friend
