Final Fantasy 16: A Discussion

1.) “Why is it medieval?”

The real question is why you’re asking this when FF 1-5, 9, 11, 14, and Tactics have all been set in medieval settings. This is also not mentioning how classic D&D inspired the old FFs.

2.) “It ripped off [X]!”

We haven’t seen enough of the plot and gameplay to judge that for ourselves. Also, I’d like to mention that no one owns the concept of “dark fantasy”- it’s something that all of us can use for ourselves.

3.) “FF isn’t dark!”

Bruh. This series has literally had entire civilizations die. It ain’t a picture of purity.

4.) “It looks last-gen.”

It’s only the first trailer. Besides, what comes first, graphics or gameplay?

5.) “Why are you so optimistic?”

Cautiously optimistic, yes. While I’m aware of SE’s track record, my hopes are slightly boosted by the fact that BD3 is working on it. Given their own track record, my hopes are up.
