With two brothers ahead of her, it was very unlikely that Rosalinde would make it onto the throne in her lifetime, mind. Still, advice is advice. If you could count that as advice.

A smile twitched at the corner of the king's mouth. It wasn't often that his daughter kept his company, but when she did, there was often amusement to be found.

Edmund mused this for a moment. It seemed rather a benign question… Animals had never held much interest to him, although they had owned plenty in the course of their time.
That said, when it came to the big divide between feline and canine…
"I prefer dogs. Hounds are loyal. They can be trained to follow commands.”
They had a large pack of hunting dogs on the estate. Each and every one was like a small soldier, obedient to the last. It was quite impressive, really. Their kennel master must be a good man… Though he couldn’t recall ever actually meeting him.
"Cats are… Pompous. Sly. Eager to scratch and bite as they please. Detestable animals, at the end of the day.”
Plus they liked to piss up things, especially toms. You can train that out of a dog, but a cat does as it likes.

"Yes… I don’t know if fond is still the right word, but dogs over cats. Definitely.”

She would rather shake the hand free of her shoulder, but he seemed determined to keep it firmly in place.

A wry smile played on the soon-to-be-king’s lips. Princess Marcella of Armone. She should, of course, have been married to his brother. But their father dying earlier than expected had managed to royally cock that up.
And then he had toyed with brother dear and the blighter was deemed too unstable to be marrying anyone.
So he’d got lumped with her instead. That hadn’t been part of his plans, but he could make it work.

Edmund shrugged. He had only met the girl twice and had yet to be at all enamoured.
"Still… Tradition is tradition, hm?"

A raised eyebrow and a cool glare met the woman’s words. The hand that was now resting on her shoulder remained unmoved, despite the command. No, no, not ‘command’… Demand.
He was the king and she was only the queen, after all.
"I’m sorry… Is there a law against a man touching his wife?”
It wasn’t as if he had hurt her in any way. Simply came up behind her and laid a hand on her shoulder. And this was how he was greeted? Typical. They had might as well not even been married.
"Not that you act like a wife in the slightest."

His smile seems as insincere as hers does forced. But she knows to soften the expression lest she appear uncomfortable in the presence of a fellow royal.
Though, it seemed discomfort followed her everywhere nowadays, no matter who she finds herself in the company of.

A cool glance is spared to the girl before the prince, disinterest the only emotion given forthwith. Women were a bother, a distraction. He didn't need it. Not now. But appearances were everything. Be courteous. Be gracious. Continue the charade. A smile flickers in greeting, not reaching the eyes. A hand is extended, slow and unwelcoming. "Good day to you, princess. A pleasure to meet you at last."
