My one year old niece adores Minie Mouse. She has a ton of Minie toys, and also quite a few Mickey’s. But she refers to those as Minie. It’s not because Mickey is more difficult to say for her. She can, for example, say words like “me” or “keys” perfectly well, so Mickey should not be a huge stretch from there. But she insists on calling every Disney rat “Minie”, regardless of whether it is wearing a bow and a skirt, or shirt and pants.
And you know what? She is right. Mickey and Minie look identical, except for their clothing. So it is a perfectly valid to assume that Minie sometimes chooses to wear pants instead of her skirt and a bow. I mean, why wouldn’t she?
So this kid saw through the bullshit that is gender coding the character using accessories, and is currently calling bullshit on it. She rejects the idea that Minie is just a female version of Mickey and instead assumes Minie is the default, and that she sometimes chooses to wear different clothing. It makes sense.
So I’m not correcting her anymore, because she is right. It’s kinda bullshit that Minie is just Mickey with a bow and there is literally zero reasons why it couldn’t be the other way around.
TL;DR: my one year old niece is woke as fuck

Another dumb Overwatch comic. This one has extra Genji butts.
Warhammer Fantasy Battle logos. Games Workshop/Citadel Miniatures 1983-2006.
I love that weird “A” on the older logos; they should never have dropped that.
RIP Warhammer Fantasy. Nevar forget.
Furiosa isn’t the female action hero we’re used to. Furiosa doesn’t have a dad who taught her boxing or five brothers who taught her how to fix cars. Furiosa wasn’t a tomboy growing up, who preferred to play with the boys. Furiosa isn’t avenging the murder of her husband/brother/father or hunting down a rapist.
Furiosa comes from a community of women. She was raised by women. She works her way up through enemy ranks until she’s in a position to rescue women. Furiosa is here for women, she is here with women, and she is here because of women. Her rage, her ruthlessness, her courage – these are all things she learned from women, and from being a woman.
