My brother was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease when he was 15 that has destroyed his lungs. After years and years of trying, he is finally very close to getting his lung-transplant. The only hiccup is he has to move to Pittsburgh, where his transplant team is, like next week. He was going to move in with family who live a few hours away (which would’ve been good enough), but they have refused to get the COVID vaccine. With his respiratory system as delicate as it is, COVID would likely be fatal for him pre-surgery, and post-surgery even if he survived, he would have permanent damage to his new lungs. So moving in with them is no longer an option. He’s set up a Go Fund Me to try to raise enough to live off of for the time he needs to be in Pittsburgh pre- and post-transplantation. If you’re able to donate anything it would be immensely appreciated, but if not, if you could share it around, it would mean the world to us. He’s been fighting for this transplant since he was 17 and we’re so close.
