My Hobby Pt. 2
My Hobby
There's two videos to this project, but I've created a time-lapse video of myself playing a video game I enjoy. The engagement and adrenaline I have when being competitive in video games gives me an exciting rush feel. But most importantly, it's what I enjoy on doing in my free time. It puts me in a spot away from school, work, stress, and making time for myself. I chose to make this as my project to also keep the theme I had for the last project by having myself included and give you the exclusive "behind the scenes" lol.

Performance: A Hidden Story
This reading elaborates on how performance art is a natural effect to art history. Performance art is not really a continuous theme in art but when it occurs, it mostly is seen in areas with big crowds minding their business. It depends what the performance is about, which makes the crowd wonder and be interested more with the artist doing their performance. This is because the artist is trying to get groups of people to stay for the end (if it includes one) and conclude what will happen next. Just with our guest speaker on Monday, she explains her experience when performing and how long it took, actions she made, and feelings she had.
The Other History of Intercultural Performance
This reading provides information about intercultural performance art and its timeline of how people performed their work. These performance include artists/performers from Asia, Africa, Europe, and America. Also includes Australian Aborigines, Tahitians, Aztecs, Iroquois, Cherokee, Ojibways, Iowas, Mohawks, Botocudos, Guianese, Hottentots, Kaffirs, Nubians, Somalians, Singhalese, Patagonians, Tierradel Fuegans, Kahucks, Anapondans, Zulus, Bushmen, Japanese, East Indians, and Laplanders have been exhibited in the taverns, theaters, gardens, museums, zoos, circuses, and world’s fairs of Europe, and the freak shows of the United States. Most of these performances were racist and considered them as origins of intercultural performance in the West. In the 1550s, Native Americans are brought to France to build a Brazilian village in Rouen. The King of France orders his soldiers to burn the village as a performance. He likes the spectacle so much that he orders it restaged the next day.
Art Project #3: Resident Evil Series Supercut Video
Artist Statement #3
Resident Evil (Biohazard) is my favorite game to play. I was captivated by its atmosphere, the strategic survival horror gameplay, and most of all, the the adrenaline.
I wanted to make my viewers feel the same way as I did. To make them feel anxious, on edge, and captivated while watching this video.
The purpose of this video is to show all similar situations from every series which is chaos and fear.
The clips are pulled from YouTube and from my own PlayStation console as I recorded some of the moments. The clips are put together with faster speed. The music is also being sped up every few moments to give that build-up feelings.
The clips in this video: Resident Evil 1 Remake, Resident Evil 2 Remake, Resident Evil 3 Remake, Resident Evil 4 Remake, Resident Evil 7, and Resident Evil Village.
SPEEDRACER
(HEADPHONE WARNING / HEADPHONES RECCOMMENDED )
Artist Statement:
When this movie first came out in theaters, it was absolutely demolished by the other movies created around that time. It didn't do so well and was considered a "flop." But not to me. When 8 year old me first laid my eyes upon this movie I was hooked in. The story, the characters, the message, the visuals, the action, the stunts, and the race CARS!! I never once liked cars but the way they made these cars? Ugh they look so cool. I realized later on that no one really knew about it. It made me quite sad how no one knew about this cinematic masterpiece. And so, I made this compilation of clips in tribute of SpeedRacer: THE BEST MOVIE EVER.
Art Project #3: The Supercut Video (A Supercut of Us)
Artist Statement:
I made this supercut to capture a montage of just really special and happy times that I’ve had with my friends. My friends are such an important and influential part of my life that without them I don’t know where I’d be. Whenever I’m with my friends, it’s only good vibes and I always just have a great time and I wanted to capture that joyous feeling through this supercut video.
I was scrolling through my camera roll trying to find videos to include in this montage while still unsure of what song I wanted to use when I came across the first video clip. After a very adventurous day, I took numerous videos of my friends and I singing songs in the car and we happened to be singing “Tongue Tied” by Grouplove as one of them. When this song had first came out, I was obsessed with it because it always just made me feel nostalgic to all the happy summer days I would have being out with friends and how special those days were.
I decided from there to use this song and had the idea to transition us singing the song into the actual audio of the song. I then put the audio and the first clip into the editing app I use on my iPad (Premiere Rush) and then from there found a variety of short videos of my friends and I and put those in as well.
I’m really happy with how the video came out and I genuinely think I captured some of these momentous times with friends. I can feel how happy I get every time I watch it, which I’ve rewatched it an ungodly amount of times at this point.

D.VA Compilation
This project was inspired by videos I captured in a game called Overwatch 2; D.VA is the character used in these clips. For clarity, D.VA's ultimate (the icon in the middle that looks like a bunny) is basically a nuke that eliminates opponents who are in view of the mech (her mechanical robot she jumps out of). More kills I get, more points I receive and higher chance of getting the play of the game! I'm a heavy gamer and love to play with friends. Using Premier for this project was really fun to use but also hard to get the right timing and transitions, especially having to restart when my whole video went black after adding a type of into. Although, I'm very proud of the turnout of this video and quality. I sometimes think I'm too old for video games but it's just what I love to do and such a good topic to talk about haha. P.S. Song choice is called "Be With U" by Coco & Clair Clair (feat. DETO BLACK) been obsessed with this song recently haha.
Experiment #3 / The Music Video Mash-Up
Reading and Response #3
In Sean's article, "Projection: Vanishing Becoming", he talks about lighting, vanishing points, and terms such as digital which all relate to video making. What I most found interesting was the examples provided in this article such a Figure 20.3 that was called "Nascent" by Gina Czarnecki. When viewing the piece, you can see blurs of figures in the center and creates a frame on top of the black background. Even though you can't tell who specifically these people are, it's understandable they're odd figures. This piece gives an example of vanishing.
Lea Collet's article "Introduction to Video Art", was interesting to read about and see video art pieces. The style these artists have in video art is amazing with music videos, themes, placement, and especially color. For example, June Paik made a video art piece called Zen for Film. They placed TVs with an error filter on the screen and having tons of plants crowd over these tv's which create like a dreamcore theory.
Project 2: Gif Series Part 1
Gif Project part 2
Art Project #2: Gif Series
Animals add so much joy to our lives! Pets remind us to be present, play, have fun and be goofy. I experimented with a variety of my own videos, which included nature, art, dancing and sports. The GIFs I most enjoyed creating, sharing and looking at were those of animals. I don’t have any pets, but I love everyone else’s pets and I think these looped/edited videos show that. Making these GIFs have restarted the conversation with my husband and I about when we will be ready to adopt our own pet ~ perhaps this fall... “we’ll see.”
Art Project #2: Gif Series
Artist Statement:
The GIFs I chose to make were based on some of my favorite scenes from the movie Pearl. This movie came out recently (end of last year) and I had paid to rent the movie on YouTube since it’s difficult to find on illegal websites but due to copyright, I was unable to screen record or download the movie. Instead, I was able to find YouTube videos of some of the most iconic scenes from the movie and was able to screen record those and make GIFs out of them. The process of making the GIFs was difficult at first because I was unable to figure out how Photoshop worked and was having difficulties with my subscription but I was able to easily import the clips into ProCreate and it would automate a GIF for me. In order to make it below the maximum space limit on Tumblr, I changed the resolution so it’s more pixelated (Web Ready) but was able to upload. I really enjoyed doing this project because Pearl had recently become one of my favorite movies - as well as the overall movie series - since seeing it in theaters and the psychological horror as well as the classic style scenes to fit the time period all tied together and were things that I immediately thought of capturing for this project. I also love this movie and the eerie visuals in each scene that are so casually and oddly portrayed to convey the story of Pearl being trapped and isolated on a farm taking care of her father but striving to be a star one day to escape, moving forward to this goal by murdering numerous people. It’s a difficult movie to explain with many underlying psychological meanings so I would recommend watching it because it’s one of the best movies I’ve seen.
Artists through Gifs
For my series of gifs, I decided to do my favorite artists. I love listening to music and watching music videos and this was an opportunity to create gifs through them. The movement in each of these gifs are so playful to watch and seeing the different paces in each gif. Especially the color palettes from each video such as Amy Winehouse being black and white and Kali Uchis having a glamour effect. My process through this project was simple for me because I got the hang of creating and editing the videos, just took some time with taking out extra frames and condensing the file for it to be able to upload.
