When this day creeps up on me each year, my thoughts circle around you. It's that time of the year again. The day comes closer and I think back to you.

I would love to see your reaction to so many things that have happened in the last few years, I can imagine the way your face would twist and how you'd chatter away. You had so much energy and joy, despite knowing what was ahead of you. Never willing to give up once you had something you put your mind to. I admire that to this day. You'll be forever missed and loved, my friend. Until we see each other again.

What's the title of your blog from, or why'd you pick it?

"Poison Eater" is the title of a song from my second band NUL., first and foremost. I changed the title to Poison Eater a few years ago because I've been through enough shit with enough people that have been commonly considered toxic but yet I bounced back instead of letting them have the best of me. So it was more of a symbol to myself that their poison can't harm me but also that I'd rather swallow their poison in trying to get to know someone and make my own experience and judgements than blindly trusting a third person that tells me that xyz person is horrible. And I'd always do it again, big fan of forming my own opinions.

Also beautifully ties back to the new release of my band D'espa after our reunion; in the MV to "Rapture" my bandmates resurrect me from my grave with poison. So yeah, I'mma eat that poison up and see for myself what it does, what might kill others might strengthen me ww

16 years is a very long time, but as long as you feel good and your voice is doing better, that is all that matters. I'm glad you pushed through and got to the place you are, and let me tell you: The new single is dope, and on another note, I have had "Lizard" on repeat because the rhythm and your voice is just so good.

It may be a hot minute until I can make it back to japan, but I take your word on that <3 Maybe you manage to come over the ocean, too, for some touring and festival summer in Europe. A Wacken 2.0 would not be so bad, would it?

Well actually! I will be in Europe next month. In Paris, to be precise. We're participating in the B7Klan Festival. On the 11th and 12th of July, our perfomance will be on the 12th. Sooo, if you're free around that time..

Also, I don't remember that patch all to clearly, to be honest. I'm sorry about that, but I am glad I was able to help you.

Pandemic did a horrible thing or two to the scene and music business here in Europe, so I am really more than glad to see you've been able to get back into the band. And the shaving thing was... Necessary in a way, but damn was that cold at times. I bet guys feel the same when they shave off the beard.

And Hatchi, well. He's been having a good time, but he suffered from kidney insufficiency in the end. Managed to give him a respectable rest underneath an old appletree at my parents. Haven't gotten another dog ever since then, but I do sometimes walk past the dog park.

Yeah my brain is wired like that.. do I remember what I had for breakfast this morning? Nope. Do I remember Zero making an utter fool of himself when D'espa was playing cards against humanity a decade ago? Absolutely ww I may not always remember everything, but I do remember what matters most to me, I'd like to believe.

Yeah the music industry all over the world was very affected by it, it really wasn't an easy time. It's sad to see how many great bands disbanded as a result. As for me, D'espa was never off the table, I'm just fortunate enough that my voice recovered enough that we could finally have our reunion that we've always worked towards. Just took us 16 horribly long years.

Oh damn, I'm sorry to hear that. I'm sure he's still watching over you in one way or another. When you're in Japan the next time, let's go to a dog café together, yeah?

Well, band disbanded during the pandemic, but I have my own solo project going. Shaved off my hair for a while, then let it grow back. It's been wild, I tell you.

And yeah, I do occasionally check on the people I have mad respect for and still cherish <3 (If I don't forget, duuuh...)

Of course I remember. I don't forget people I hold dear. And look at yourself, you remember me still, too! Plus, you've unknowingly been there for me while I was going through a rough patch, I don't forget kindness that easily.

Ah damn, sorry to hear about the band, I know how bad that shit hurts. But I'm glad to hear you're still going strong and going your own way solo now. I'm proud of you. Wish I could've been there with you when you shaved your head tho, must've felt liberating. How's your dog doing? Hatchi, if I remember correctly?
