HE laughs. IT’S A PLEASURE when someone has the guts to crack a joke at Matt’s expense. MANY ignore his blindness out of fear. Jessica Jones has not. 

“Fuck it!!” Matt agrees. Taps the cane as they part ways. “You’ll see me before I see you!!”

A THUDDING PULSE steals MATT’s attention. FEAR. There’s someone who MAY be in TROUBLE. Matt’s ride is still blocks away, so he goes to INVESTIGATE.

At the end of an alley, he calls out, “ARE YOU okay??”

SHE makes a GOOD ARGUMENT. The SAINTS and the WICKED. GOOD and EVIL.

THE CHANGE of EMMA FROST is sudden. Unexpected. Startling. If MATT did not hear her SPEAK, he would’ve thought she was DEAD!! He gapes, closes his mouth. Opens it again. “HOW are you DOING that??”

“I’M afraid of SILENCE.” Matt has no reason to lie again. “It makes me feel ALONE.”

But if she wants answers, she has other ways. She’s not a private investigator for nothing. “Like I said,” she nods. “Most things are.” She studies him a moment longer, then looks away. For her sake, not his. “Still. Sorry to hear it,” she says, with a small sigh. “You guys were good from what I hear.” 

IT’S NICE to hear Claire isn’t upset with him. “That’s ENOUGH SHARING on my part!!” Matt says, trying to joke about it.

“Nice to meet you too. So would this have been like a consultation or something? I have some cash…” she hesitated. She probably should have asked that at the beginning.

She thought she could see something there, he must have liked his father. That was nice to hear. “Oh yeah? Was he a lawyer too?”

“JUST A CONSULTATION.” Matt doesn’t want to charge her. CASES like STEPHANIE’s are pro bono.

“A BOXER. He never gave up in the ring.”

     “ i already got an AGENT and a superhero name. adding a THE would just be a bit extra, don’t you think ?? ” it’s nice, though, to talk to an old friend. she needed this. “too fast. how’s the LAWYER thing working out ?? you got a cool night job too ?? ”

“ISN’T that the thing now?? EXTRA??”

Matt DOESN’T want to SPILL that secret over THE PHONE. “Lawyer thing is FINE. My night job...it’s a SECRET.”

Ever the punctual, Wanda arrived at his offices an hour later. When the secretary lead her into his office, she took a seat across from him. “Wanda Maximoff, I was your… mysterious caller. You said you’d help my brother?”

THE TIME passed like nothing else. MATT waits patiently for his client and after she’s sitting in front of him, he takes a MOMENT to study her. There is a RED sheen to her, curling around her EDGES like smoke. WANDA MAXIMOFF. AVENGER. The call makes sense!!

“That I did.” Matt turns the laptop so she can see the screen. “Let’s get started.”

DAREDEVIL’s secret is SAFE. He feigns a sweeping look of the bodies. IN REALITY, Matt is LISTENING to groaning breaths, creaking bones, thundering pulses, and smelling blood from ALL SIDES.

“Of course.” HE catches the SOUND of a struggle FOUR BLOCKS from them. “See you around!!”
