update to La Reine Claudia, in which Lestat and Louis are corralled into an arranged marriage so that Claudia can be born as foretold and save everyone's ass.
“Louis, Claudia's favorite color is yellow.”
“…Yellow.”
“Yes, right? Who knew. Green I understood—obviously. But…”
“Well, it’s just not a very nocturnal color.”
“Louis, do you blame my human heritage? Could this be my fault? She’ll never see the sun, but I did, and not that long ago, relatively speaking.”
“The sun as a spectacle is overrated, and yellow is very much a nocturnal color,” Armand intoned, managing to type on his phone and talk at the same time. “It is arguably the most important color in the nighttime: yellow is the color that stands out. The glow of lanterns, tungsten lightbulbs, fire, streetlights, headlights. The shine of gold in the shadows. It is the color of her birth parent’s hair. And, yes, it is the color that burns us. It is a most sophisticated choice.”
Louis and Lestat looked at each other for a moment. “Oh.”
“You do make a good case.”
Armand did not look up from his phone.
“Armand, is yellow your favorite color?”
