dex dizznee. your anger is scarier than anyone else’s. was your decision to not tell the vackers objectively a betrayal of your friend’s trust? a little bit. however, i can only imagine how freeing it must feel to shackle your tormentor. there’s something so poetic about dex, a boy who was imprisoned, scarred, and electrocuted to the point of near death, creating the device that imprisons, scars, and electrocutes his abuser. this is a legacy gisela longs for.

unpopular opinion time!
I don’t know if this is a hot take or a warm take, idk.
A lot of people are saying kotlc should be rated for higher age groups or at least not for nine year olds, but I 110% think that it’s exactly FOR 9-12.
because yeah, people get kidnapped, drugged, killed, etc. but the thing is that it’s not described in FULL detail. We obviously know that it happens, of course, but it’s written in a way that younger kids can understand. And older audiences can understand that it’s more than it seems, like when Sophie came back to havenfield after the big ogre battle, but kids won’t really.
for the romance, it is VERY clean. Yeah Sophie is a bit boy crazy, but there is VERY little mention of sex. In fact, the only mention in the entire series is when silveny shows her and greyfell ‘PlAyInG’, which is vague enough that it will skip over younger ages heads. When I was 9 and reading neverseen, I skipped over that part completely and only realised it 5 years later when I reread neverseen. Besides that, there are 2 times she kisses guys. And it ain’t even that long, just a little smooch.
And overall the writing style is directed to younger audiences. It pisses me off when older ppl say “The writing is too kiddish! She should age it up!” The target demographic is KIDS. NO WONDER THE WRITING IS KIDDISH!

He betrays them (again)
My personal favourite. Turns out he was working with Gisela the entire time and he ‘coincidentally’ found keefe in the lost cities and ‘helped’ him shape his abilities just so Gisela can come back and do something cause idk what her plans are.
2. He comes back to the lost cities and helps the crew / Keefe-and-friends (VERY unlikely, but hey we have to consider every possibility)
He realised how much of a jerk he was and repented and gets away with no punishment despite being a terrorist because the council are shit at punishing people.
3. The crew / keefe-and-friends have to go to London to find something and they find him (or just anywhere in the forbidden cities)
this is also very possible, bonus points if they SOMEHOW run into elanor and keefe has to struggle to explain what happened lol

HC that elves only have sex when trying to reproduce, since they don’t want any “accidental babies” and it’s seen as this beautiful ritual that you only get the privilege to do once married and ready for kids. But since it’s so personal and special no one is taught about it and have to “trust their instincts” when the time comes. But Sophie, who was around high schoolers at age eight, has been disgustingly educated on sex, especially after finding an ACOTAR book at age 11.
So imagine they’re all having a sleepover and Sophie has this realization; “Wait, don’t you guys have sex?” And then someone goes “what’s sex? You mean the Elite Reproductive Ritual?” And Sophie’s just fucking floored.
