âIt takes time, and patience, and is deeply unpleasant for the demon. Itâs a one at a time process, Seth. It can be done.â
âPain and I are old friends. Whatâs the cure?â
âA human purifies human blood, injecting it eight times over eight hours into your neck as youâre bound in a devilâs trap on consecrated ground. After the eighth hour, a final exorcism. It turned my vessel back to human once upon a time.â

âWell, Iâm sure I could come up with some kind of a distraction for you there. First thingâs first, letâs go lie down.â Shane smiled, getting up carefully and holding his hand out to Dean to take.  âI have a single room. We can go lie down in my bed.â
Dean slipped his hand into Shaneâs in a way he so rarely did when there was a chance of anyone seeing. He wasnât ashamed of Shane, more ashamed of himself, because the voice in the back of his head sounded more like John than himself.
He followed him to one of the rooms, thanfully in a hall nowhere close to where his own room was along with Samâs or any of their other family.
âYouâre a good distraction, Iâm just glad Michael didnât get hold of you.â
allurfavesrtransâ:
Ben wasnât gonna argue with his father about this when it wasnât entirely useful to do so. So, he let it go - and just tugged on Deanâs hand a little bit.  âI can offer a distraction? I built my own motorcycle. Itâs in the garage, wanna take a look at it with me? I need to tune Duchess up, anyway.ââ
âYou built your own motorcycle?â he questioned, definitely distracted from his own brain right then.
Damn, Ben really was his kid.
âHell yes, I wanna see. Duchess, huh? She must be a classy lady,â he grinned, already heading towards the garage. He needed to not be in the main bunker anyway. Not after everything.
dextramanudeiâ:
He squeezed Benâs hand, smiling thinly.
âNo one wants to admit the father of their kid is a drifter who was on the FBIâs most wanted, Ben. I get it. Reputation matters.â
âI canât just sit down. Feel like Iâll go out of my mind if Iâm not movinâ.â
âSomehow I doubt my mother, who had a child when she was young and very much out of wedlock, gives a single solitary fuck about reputation.â Ben said gently.  âBut thatâs neither here nor there. What can I do to help you?â
He just wanted Dean to be as okay as he was gonna get. If it meant pacing, then so be it.
âBen. Sheâs a yoga teacher. Reputation matters.â
âHonestly, I ainât sure whatâs gonna help, because nothing has so far.â
thepocketqueerâ:
He shifted so he was facing Dean a bit more and carded a hand through the manâs hair gently.  âHence why I suggested we lie down together instead of try and sleep.â Shane murmured with a soft laugh.
A tattooed arm curled around Dean and he kissed his boyfriendâs hair gently.  âI donât doubt it. What do you need me to do, babe?â He asked softly, giving Dean a little neck massage as he carded his fingers through his hair.
Dean melted a little into the touch and just... existed for a moment. Something that was preciously rare and so often never happened at all.
âCould do with layinâ down, and just... not havinâ to think would be a start. I canât turn my brain off, and not even the whiskey is takinâ the edge.â
dextramanudeiâ:
âSomething you wanna say? Spit it out.â
âYou are Dean Winchester. I haveâŠheard about you.â
âWell, Iâve got no idea who you are.â
allurfavesrtransâ:
âIâm an adult now, Dean. I think I get tâdecide if I wanna soothe my own father or not.â He teased gently, keeping his hand in Deanâs as he spoke.  âI know what she said. You think I didnât wonder either - that I didnât ask? I was old enough tâdo math. She wasnât ready for either of us to know and that sucks butâŠthereâs not much either of us can do about that. Ainât anybodyâs fault.â
Ben tugged on his fatherâs hand.  âSit down? Please?â
He squeezed Benâs hand, smiling thinly.
âNo one wants to admit the father of their kid is a drifter who was on the FBIâs most wanted, Ben. I get it. Reputation matters.â
âI canât just sit down. Feel like Iâll go out of my mind if Iâm not movinâ.â
thepocketqueerâ:
âHey there.â He smiled gently, making sure it was clear there were no hard feelings.  âI bet. I know what itâs like to have your self control hi-jacked by someone else. Iâll admit itâs a little different when itâs an archangel butâŠitâs still not easy.â
Shane scooted himself close to Dean in his chair, a patient and understanding smile forming.  âWhy donât we go lie down in my bunk, Dean? Donât gotta sleep but yknow you could do with some rest.â
âI can sleep when Iâm permanently dead. Seriously, my perfect heaven is a California King bed.â
He sighed, leaning in towards Shane for a brief moment, forehead pressing to his shoulder.
âGuy once said being ridden by an angel was like being strapped to a comet. Archangels are like being dipped in lava.â
allurfavesrtransâ:
âI will hardly excuse your fatherâs actions, little one - but I can explain them.â Amara said gently.  âYour father and I had nothing in the way of parents. I do not think he knew the first thing about parenting. Truth be told - neither did I and yet I raised him as best I could. It excuses nothing - but I have found explanations can soothe certain pains a little.â
She kissed Michaelâs forehead fondly.  âYou are my family. I will never fully leave you, though I may need to take a few earth days to myself here and there. Your fatherâs creations can be quiteâŠloud.â
âEarth days mean little, as long as you are not gone one Cage day. The time stretched impossibly, short and long, eons in seconds and seconds in eons...â
Michael paused, glancing towards the heavy wooden door that lead to the rest of heaven.
âThey are very loud, and very... resilient, like insects but with vocal folds.â
allurfavesrtransâ:
âHey.â Ben caught his dadâs hand as he paced.  âBreathe. Itâs okay.â The young man coaxed, trying to help where he could. His father had been through a lot and it wasnât an easy situation for the guy. Finding this out wasnât going to make it easier, naturally - but Ben could try to soothe where he could.Â
âCâmon, Ben, last thing you should be doing is tryinâ to soothe me. Sâposed to be the other way around. I know that much about parenting at least. Iâm breathinâ, I just... your mom said you werenât mine, and I was prepared to accept that.â
thepocketqueerâ:
âYou this grumpy with everyone, handsome? I meanâŠthatâd be pretty fair.â Dean had been through a lot, grumpiness was to be expected. Shane sat down next to his boyfriend and patted his cheek fondly.  âOnly thing I got tâsay, Dean - is Iâm glad youâre back.â
âShane...â he started, then stopped. He really didnât have a defense. Heâd been pretty awful to most everyone that mattered to him today. Why stop at his boyfriend?
âI hope Iâm back. It still feels like Iâm drowning under it all.â
