“definitely.” dex answered easily, sliding the sunglasses down the rim of his nose to look at her, “not really, actually. technically we’re not romantically involved, but rhys loves me, don’t let his sullen puppy face tell you otherwise. and don’t tell the two girls over there that we aren’t dating; it took three months of me playing the jealous boyfriend to get them to leave rhys alone.”

he glared at the other. this situation he was in was the exact reason as to why max didn’t like socializing. “is this your party persona or are you just always this annoying?" 

“a party persona?” dex laughed, “always like this, i’m afraid. does that mean life’s a party?” rolling his eyes, he continued, “are you always such a crowd pleaser yourself, or have i just caught you at a good time?”

“you know,” she started, hazy eyes watching as he slid the glasses back on before she’d stepped in front of him, leaning forward to check her lipstick in the mirrored frames. “actual badasses don’t claim they are badasses.– you do make a good compact though.” rory smiled, running her finger along her lower lip to remove the ‘invisible’ smudge of red. “but who’s rhys? is he hot?”

dex blinked, once, twice----not that she could see, but it took a moment for him to try and clear his head. he was barely expecting any response at all, much less one from such a pretty girl. his brain was moving much slower than usual, but his eyes tracked the movement of her finger swiping across her lips, and he bit his own for a moment before answering, “rhys is------yeah,” no use lying, “but----some people say, y’know, that if rhys and i were brothers-----i’d be the more handsome of the two.” sorry, rhys. his lips quirked upwards, “you, uh, missed a spot.”

max eyed the other after they spoke to him. they were wearing sunglasses—at night—and they had called them-self a badass. merlin is already testing me and it’s only the first night, he thought to himself. “lad, i imagine the sun set a couple of hours ago.” 

“you think, or you know?” dex asked, grabbing a drink and leaning against one of the guard rails, “i feel like the setting of the sun’s a pretty sure thing. cyclical, y'know happens every day. how’d you miss it, then?”

the hits he’d taken before taking the portkey had been a little too strong, so he slid the sunglasses over his eyes despite the black night sky above them. he quickly took them off, looking down at them quizzically, “why do i have rhys’ sunglasses?” shrugging, he put them back on, “the sun never sets on a badass like me.” he said to the person next to him----not that they asked.

hey hey hey it’s me (arielle) back again with muse #2, declan hughes (but pls call him dex he thinks declan is a bit stuffy). his stat sheet can be found here, and there’s more info under the cut!

dex was born on december 8th, 2003 and was adopted by henry and ava hughes only a few weeks later. both of his parents being muggle, dex had no idea about the magical world until he was eight years old and invited to attend mahou no bashu. the hughes live in hong kong, and dex still spends most time when he’s not at school in the city.

okay anyway dex is a pretty chill guy with a very quick mind. he’s wicked smart—-actually, he has an eidetic memory so he not only picks up on things quickly but is able to recall that information pretty well, though not perfectly, obviously. despite this, he’s pretty lazy and unambitious? he sort of coasts through school—you know those annoying kids that do—and really has few plans for the future because nothing interests him enough to dedicate a career and his life to it? he’s a big learner when it comes to something that interests him (ask him about the gaming computers he builds from scratch over the summer) but the idea of sticking with one area of interest for his whole life just seem so boring and stifling to him.

dex is also a big partier like…. if someone is planning a party he either is part of it or knows who is. he’s a big drinker and smoker and just—-yeah, a bit of a lush and way over-indulgent in those kinds of things.

personality wise he’s pretty amiable, he never really means to hurt anyone but he can be pretty tactless and insensitive at times. he’s pretty adventurous and impulsive as well which sort of leads to a lot of rash decision making and regrets in the morning, and although he can be a bit snappy if you bite at him, he has a good heart at the center of it all and is always up for a laugh.

possible plots/connections:

hookup/ex hookup/fwb: dex typically isnt the committed relationship type unless it really clicks for him, but he’s definitely down for casual things!

dex also will do homework/write essays for other students (or possibly even tutor them) all for the right price of course.

maybe someone who just rubs him the wrong way or vice versa? dex is normally a pretty easygoing guy but when irritated can be pretty snappy.
