No, you did not just read about a racist protest that took place in the 1950s. THIS HAPPENED RIGHT HERE IN 2017…… Dozens of white supremacists gathered around with literal fucking torches while chanting nazi ideologies as an intimidation tactic… you wanna know the scariest part? they’re not wearing hoods or any other form of “protection”, which means they don’t even care about being exposed anymore…. I’m telling ya’ll white supremacy is one of the biggest threats to america. we cannot allow history to repeat itself by allowing this terrorism to continue
oh yeah, and one more thing. no one was arrested during this so called “protest”. sure, the police showed up….. but all they did was tell them to leave. no tear gas was thrown, no beatings, no rubber bullets, no national guard, no charges brought up…….. just a good ole peaceful disperse of a racist ass crowd..
but god forbid BLM protests against police brutality while holding nothing but signs
WHAT THE FUCK WHATTHEFUCK WHATTHEACTUALFUCK
Maybe because black lives matter protests usually end up with them damaging property and getting arrested for actually assaulting people who disagree with them, meanwhile these white supremacists aren’t doing anything beside using their first amendment right to freedom of speech. I don’t care if your black lives matter or a nazi cult. You should be able to exercise your first amendment right, but you will be arrested if you do illegal shit. Get that through your goddamn snowflake brains.
white supremacy is a huge threat to this country, and it always have been. “ white supremacists aren’t doing anything beside using their first amendment right to freedom of speech”…… are you fucking serious??? did you actually type that up without even thinking about how oblivious you’re being??? those people were literally pushing nazi ideologies, an ideology that’s responsible for killings millions of people. this is not something to excuse as “freedom of speech”.
the first amendment exists so that the government doesn’t dictate what we have to say. that doesn’t mean people should chant racist and nazi related bullshit in the middle of a field. this is still a form of terrorism and if this shit gets too out of hand, it can even turn into a serious of hate crimes……. i love how we’re the “snowflakes” yet these white supremacists are whining over a statue of someone who died over 100 fucking years ago.
“black lives matter protests usually end up with them damaging property and getting arrested for actually assaulting people who disagree with them”……. what the alt-right is doing is literally the epitome of attacking people for disagreeing with them. they’re using fears tactics to scare minorities who don’t agree with having that statue up soo…. you pretty much just contradicted yourself there. i highly suggest you open up a history book before spewing the bullshit you just typed up.
Imagine being so fucking racist you put down civil rights activists to defend Nazis
Am I truly reading a post with ppl defending white nazi right to protest by saying that black lives matter protester r violent. First I am pretty sure those with the ignorant preception of black lives matter movement r protest haven’t ever been to a blk lives matter protest. So to ignorantly say stuff abt a protest r protesters because of the preception on TV u r very ignorant. Further more Nazi having a right to spread hatred because of the first admenment r somehow better and peaceful than the blk lives matter protester who some of y'all ignorant preceive as violent because the media preceive them that way r just beyond trash.
These same white fools are going to be crying foul when years from now they can’t be hired because the internet keeps everything.
@stayingwoke the fact that these ppl r trying to defend Nazi and Robert E Lee is just beyond disgusting yet the leve of delusional and ignorance when it comes to blk lives matter protester and protest is pathetic. Like when has blk lives matter protester and protest ever killed anyone but Nazi rhetoric has.
I’m not surprised about white folks defending this. They continue to show us who they are.
Sociologically speaking a generalization is different from a stereotype because generalizations are based on empirical data while still allowing for the occasional outlier; all for the purpose of properly categorizing a thing, a group in a way that allows for quick recognition of what we are looking at. Stereotypes on the other hand are based on lies, half truths, anecdotal information which is then turned into what’s called an “over generalization” for the purpose of passing judgment, defaming, disrespecting and often dominating a thing or a group.
I said all that to say this, when American Blacks and other people of color generalize white people as racist that’s based off of 240+ years of data. 240+ of concrete evidence of how white people view and deal with other races and deal with race as an overall topic. That also includes watching white people today in 2017 defending a group of white people pushing Nazi ideology, defending confederate monuments and actually uplifting those actions and people over Black people and movements fighting to not have their black lives and the black lives of their loved ones treated as worthless by the police, killed and get away with said murder.
White people deserve the label of racists. They’ve put forth 200+ years of work into earning that title. They are still holding on to that title in 2017 as well. The super duper rare truly actively non-racist white folk is an outlier (something that generalizations allow for by the way) but that does not change the reality of what the group is-racist as fuck. And they are never going to change. If you can stoop to defending nazism, there is no hope for you at all ever.
5th Anniversary
Also? Pay attention to what your state legislatures are doing. Because, in most cases, state legislatures are the ones who draw up the voting maps. There have been a LOT of reports of redistricting to ensure that whether a majority of the voters vote for Democrats or not, the Republicans will win actual seats in the midterms. There are also a lot more bills (some of which have already been passed and/or signed by state governors) to make voting and voting registration harder, especially for younger and minority voters…who tend to vote Democrat.
Which is why Ryan, McConnell and their ilk are so arrogant. They feel that their seats are assured, even if the majority of the voters want them out of office. It’s the November 2016 election all over. They don’t mind having the illusion of elections, but they don’t want elections to have any impact. They are in office–and they never intend to leave.
This is the OPPOSITE of democracy.
Friends, this coup has been in the works for A WHILE. We all got too comfy having Obama as our guy and didn’t pay enough attention to state and local elections (which has always been where conservatism operates most successfully.) The election of Trump was the icing on an anti-democratic garbage cake. Gerrymandering and voter suppression secured victory across the board in house and senate elections, starting in 2010. (Or really, right after Obama was elected.) And this investigation of the fictitious millions who voted illegally for Hillary in 2016 could make it even harder to vote in swing states in the future.
But even though impeachment is pretty much only something Democrats are yelling about right now, there is limited Republican support for an independent investigation of Trump’s ties with Russia.
Here’s a WaPo article keeping track of who’s where on this question. LEAN on your Republican congress-members. Let them know that aligning themselves with a president who publicly admits to obstructing justice is not gonna look good come re-election time. Add it to the pile of other unpopular shit Republican Congress is cooking up, and they’re gonna get worried.
Here’s the thing
The OTHER thing ruining our country is the worthless fucking Democrats who have too much in common with their Republican peers to aggressively challenge this shit like it needs to be.
We need people who are electable (not just the less awful) candidates, and we need Democrats who are willing to actually fucking FIGHT this. Not just with words. No more goddamn “they go low, we go high” nonsense. No more puffery and grandstanding without teeth.
We need a party that will use the exact same techniques the Republicans are using to counteract it, because one of two things will happen: it’ll work; or, the Republicans will have a conniption fit and ban theses techniques across the board. Either way we’ve made progress.
But until it actually serves them better to win than to lose, we’ll be beholden to all of these bullshit big money interests.
True 👋

Dropping knowledge.
More history that our schools fail to teach
Wow! That’s unbelievable and most including myself had no idea that he was throwing it back out of harms way to protect innocent people…
My heart goes out to him and his family!!

If your representative voted Yes on Trumpcare, there’s an upside: You still have a crucial, furious job to do.
The most effective protest, and the one with the best optics, is the one you make physically: showing up at your shitbag Representative’s district office, camera in hand. Be there when he gets to work in the morning. Be there when she leaves. Ask her if she is embarrassed. Ask him if he is ashamed. Tell her interns and assistants about yourself, about your loved ones. Explain to your local newspaper, to neighborhood blogs, to your facebook friends and Twitter followers why you are furious and disappointed and why you will not forget.
If you would rather call, here’s a potential script. It is maybe not the best? I’m pretty angry.
Hi. I’m calling to register my anger and disappointment at Rep. ____’s Yes vote on the AHCA. [I/my loved ones] am now at risk of losing my insurance, and I am appalled that social programs that personally affect me and my loved ones will be stripped in order to provide tax breaks to the wealthy. Rep. ____ should be ashamed of himself. I and my community will not forget this vote. Will you please take down my information and send me confirmation that the Congressman is listening to constituents? Thanks.
If your rep voted YES and you don’t want to call them, there are PLENTY of people on tumblr who will call on your behalf.
