Interview with Karl Fornarve from Nya Carnegie Bryggeriet
Karl Fornarve is part of NCBs brewing team alongside Chris Thurgesson, Daniel Sjögren, Josefin Karlsson and brewmaster Anders Wendler.
This is what it what you find out about Karl on NCBs homepage; “Karl has been in the beer business since 2010. With a background in home brewing he always comes up with new ideas about recipies, among other things his beer “Black Lager” got voted winner at the Beer of the day-competition 2012. Despite being passionate and enthusiastic about beers, he also loves old synths and is very musical.” Besides all that and being a fun and sweet guy he also agreed on answering a few questions.
Every workplace has some type of tradition. Does your brewery have some type of tradition on brew day or at another time? For example, using a special tool that has been around for a very long time, play specific music while brewing, etc.
-Not really.. we do lots of bad... i mean really bad puns... well not all of us maybe..
Since the brewery bar opened, NCB has had a strong connection to food. Do you have a favourite beer and food match?
-Amber is a very good beer for steaks.. I never had an 100W with any food but I'm sure it would be great with mexican food.
You and me are both fans of classic styles right? Is wellbalanced and subtle beers ever going to make its way into beernerds, hipsters and the ratebeermafias hearts alongside IPAs and BA Imperial Stouts?
- Hopefully yes. I think a lot of classic malty styles going to increase a lot in popularity.. but thats up to up and coming breweries I guess..
Stockholm Beer and whisky is around the corner, what are you looking forward to this year?
- To see if “up and coming” breweries even TRY to make classic well balanced and subtle beers, haha! (Saison seems to be a popular style)
You enjoy tweaking synthesizer knobs. Which beer is best for noisy Electronic jamming ?
- I love this question! Porters are usually very good.
Please describe your perfect beer day.
- A day with good beers along with good friends i guess.
Anything exciting from Nya Carnegie to look forward to this wet, windy and dark time of year?
- We have lots of new great beers. 100W will be released on 33cl bottles soon and we might have some barrel aged stuff too. More on that later.
