"Morgan was still sitting beside the apparent sister of his coworker.

He was looking out for Spencer, waiting for him to pop out and suddenly not be a 24 year old boy.

If he was Spencer, and god that thought circled his mind often, he would probably say no, but he wasn’t Spencer and he dearly hoped he wouldn't send away the kid beside him.

He couldn’t determine her age, younger than 15, but he could determine how broken she looked.

He worked with the worst of humanity and the little glimpse of happiness (or pastel pink, as Anastasia would later point out) he saw in the victims when they rescued them, when they were saved, wasn’t really the win he told himself it was.

And he saw it in this girl, in her eyes that scouted around, the nails that were bleeding a bit, and the scars on her arms that he tried to ignore.

He couldn’t say what she had been through but it was more than just learning you have a genius brother."

She had found an article on her computer earlier about the book and it was the main motivator, to read the analysis, and understand a new topic

Spencer was sitting in a chair beside the couch she was occupying

He was doing something with a notepad

“Can I ask you something?” Spencer cleared his throat after the silence that had filled the air

“Sure” she closed the book, using her finger as a bookmarker, looking at her brother

“Do you think Morgan and Garcia like each other?”

“Well they seem to like each other, they’re pretty good friends” she paused “but if you mean like then the answer is a no”

“Really?” his usually sure voice sounded so different when he was genuinely confused

“See it in this way, when I suggest you and Morgan are dating, you aren’t bothered, right?”

“No, I don’t really mind because I know I’m not attracted to him” Anastasia nodded at his words

The conversation reminded her a lot of the human communication afternoons she had at her foster home, you could taste the autism in the air

“They know they aren’t attracted to each other in that sense, they just have a flirty nature with each other” she tried to find another example “like when straight girls flirt with each other”"

Spencer thought for a second “of course it’s not a big deal, I mean, it’s just you, but it can be a..” he looked for a word “handful to say”
