Ayato stares deep into your soul trying to decipher exactly what that dumbfounded expression means, slightly narrowed eyes, pressed lips, slightly rosey cheeks.
"Eh? Pancake why do you look like that? Do you need your one and only to wipe it off your face?"
Your expression deepened now with a pout added on top of it. "Ayato-kun... I need to leave.."
It was his turn to change his reaction — a smug smile painted his lips as his hand shot out to grab your shaky arm. He pulled you closer, to his body, his lips right next to yours.
"You dare try to go against your one and only?" He licked your neck to prepare you for the inevitable, "It's time you get punishment"
It had been just after waking time when Ayato caught you wandering the halls searching for your journal. He had told you he knew where it was. Despite knowing better, you were lolled into a sense of security because he was nice for the past few weeks, so much so you had forgotten what he was.
Ayato had tried to be more normal. But he hadn't fed as he usually did, his hunger nipping at his self control until his old habits came back.
"I won't let you go until I'm satisfied, pancake."
Sharp pain tore down into your neck. Familiar searing heat built tears in your eyes. Yet, that agony which once rose quick digging its claws into your souls felt more like a small prick now in comparison. Your Ayato was still there marred and hidden by that older mask but shone through in his own way.
Perhaps there was still hope that you could end your torment, that your suffering in this castle would become better than it was before.
Dawned moonlight kissed the crevasses of the earth, its gentle light soothing Adam's children to bed. Yet the sons of Eve remained awake, their fangs hungry for forbidden fruit flowing deep beneath your flushed skin.
Hiding had long been abandoned as a solution, their sharpened senses breaching any place you make safe housing within. However, a safety net had cast itself not in the form of wood or brick, it came in the form of monster made man.
You trudged through long hallways, your eyes trained not on looming doors but on lush carpets. You searched for a long figure laying about, disconnected from everything around him. Shuu Sakamaki rested against hard walls, lost as always within rhythms. You never understood how he could rest anywhere he could lay his head against yet you learned quickly that questioning got you nowhere.
He says nothing when you sat on the opposite side of him. Silence continued lurking even as you stared at him breathe in and out.
"Bitch-chan!" A familiar voice called out.
"Shut it Laito" Shuu answered back, his voice calm and steady in contrast. Shuu's tone sent relief crawling down your spine.
"No fair, I want to play with little darling over there, you always hog them." He trailed his eyes from his eldest brother to you, "Or are you hogging him you s-"
"This is getting annoying." The oldest brother replied.
You grit your teeth, he usually walked away leaving you to fend for yourself until you found him again. However, this time as his figure stood, he turned towards Latio not away. He leaned forward, whispering something to his brother's ear before returning back to his spot.
Irritation shifted subtly underneath pools of green shadowed by slight surprise. Widened eyes playfully narrowed down.
"Well, Bitch-chan, you really are a minx," he shifted on his heel, "Good luck, darling."
Silence blanketed every inch within the hallway once more settling down your weary bones. Once your shoulders sloped down releasing the tension within, you laid back finally able to close your eyes to rest.
"Come here." Shuu called.
Immediately you jump forward, your heart already hammering within. Fear rooted in your shaking hands, you weren't free anywhere in this hell house, not even near the only one who never bothered to be near you.
You move towards him, every part of your mind screaming at you to run, to fight him, screaming back, your heart had already pulled dispare like a leash guiding you forward.
Shuu moved his hand towards you pulling you next to him. Music played low in your ear, he had placed an earbud in your ear letting you solve the mystery of what he listened to. The shock rooting you in place intensified when he placed his head against your shoulder.
"Be useful and relax, Pillow." Shuu whispers, his voice trailing off, becoming deep breaths. He truly fell asleep, perhaps for the first time in a long while.
